Scavone Plumbing Reviews (13)

I initially contacted *** plumbing after reading through some good reviews on googleBut ***, the contractor at *** was not available and so he recommended Frank ScavoneSince *** had good reviews, I went with his words blindlyThat was mistake number one
The problem was: there is a leak in the ceiling when the AC was running
Frank had a quick inspection and said my AC unit is not leveled on the Attic and thats the reason for the leak and he had to insert an extra stud and straighten itand it wud take $400+ to do soSo after week, he showed up to work and did what he saidhe also mentioned he will add a new sensor to stop the unit the moment there is a leak, the unit will stopand he wud also clean the unit..That was another $
when he opened the unit to install the sensor and he tripped the thermostati had a spare thermostat, he installed it and that got burnt as wellthen he blamed the installation of the thermostat and fixed something and replaced a cheap basic $thermostat
After all these drama, the AC wont workTook two days to track himThere was an electrician and mentioned about some fuse gone and he had to replace itso he charged $as the electrician
The AC was working fine untill he showed up the only problem wasit was leaking on to the ceiling And thats why I called himTo fix the leak
After down with almost more $600+ I switched on the ACthe leak is still happeningI called himhe said he will come to fix itbut he wouldntI climbed up the attic and noticed that there was a busted pipe that carries the condensed water, and thats the origin of the leakit was a min job for himand he did not even notice it
I called him to come and fix it cause I paid him 600$+ and still have this problem, he said he would come, but did not
Finally I fixed it myselfI am clearly ripped of
On top of thishe was swearing at every irritation, the entire time while he was at his job
I surely dont recommend him to any one

I provided my credit card information to Scavone Plumbing the day they started working on a major issue at my house. I was told that providing my credit card number was for the purposes of securing a down payment on the work to be done. I was not charged at that point and eventually cut ties with Scavone Plumbing prior to all work being completed due to their failure to provide me with a quote and for lying about workers being at the house to complete work. Once I cut ties I asked for an invoice and was told that it had been emailed to me; it never arrived. I was then told that it had already been mailed to me; two weeks later it has not arrived. However, they did charge my credit card over $3,000 for the work done. I have no problem paying Scavone Plumbing and Heating for the work they had completed but I need to see an invoice and give my consent to the company to charge my credit card. No invoice was ever received and no consent was ever given for the charge!Product_Or_Service: Leaking tub and damage to floor and ceiling.Desired SettlementI want the invoice for the work completed to see what I paid for.Business Response We gave him the copy of the invoice Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Company owes $630.00 to me since my hot water tank was covered under warranty. This company came to my home on 6/5/13 to replace my hot water tank which was covered under warranty. We gave company [redacted] in cash for our water tank which they made me aware it would be reimbursed back to me. The company left a check in my mailbox on 10/10/13 in the amount of [redacted]. I have been trying to contact the company to get the rest of my money. This company should not be in business at all. Here it is Jan 2014 and I am in the process of taking this company to small claims court since they have been unresponsive to give me the rest of my refund. This company should not be treating any customer like this they have very poor communication skills and I feel they don't know how to handle customers. Desired SettlementI want my 630.00 from this company. I just mailed out my application to the small claims court in Worcester, MA to get my money from this company. I am not sure what you all can do but I will say this company does very very bad business with customers.Business Response On 6/3/13 about 9pm a friend of mine called about her sister-in laws Hot water problem. I told her there was a gas valve problem after checking it out. On 6/4/13 the customer called [redacted] gas company and they also reported a gas valve problem. After explaining to the customer about the liminted warrenty and that it could take up to 90 days to recieve any monies back, they agreed to authorize the work with us at Scavone Plumbing & Heating. On 6/5/13 we installed the hot water tank and it passed code ith The City of Worcester Ma. on 6/11/13. This customer has called many times lookng for her refund even going so far as to be threatining on our last conversation. On 10/13/13 we made a company decision to refund $[redacted] after confering with [redacted] as to the amount of refund they allowed. We At Scavone did not recieve a credit until 12/5/13.We totally disagree with the consumer,s desired resolution They were paid thier refund from warrenty two months before the company recieved credit. They have a new hot water tank with permits Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I am not satisfied with the companies response. This company called [redacted] to verify if our hot water tank was cover under warranty before the company installed our new water tank. As I already stated that this company made us aware by mouth and we made him write it down on our invoice that our water tank is covered under warranty. I also was in contact with [redacted] in July 2013 to verify as well that our hot water tank was covered under warranty as well. How can Scavone Plumbing say they have no responsibility for checking and verifying to see if a hot water tank is covered under warranty that is there job to check for there clients and to let the client know if a product is covered or not. This company took it upon themselves and supposedly paid out of there company money to purchase our new water tank which we have paid the full amount to them. [redacted] reimbursed this company which Scavone Plumbing stated that the check went to the companies vendor to reimburse Scavone Plumbing to give to the client. This companies response does not make sense at all because if this company only warranties water related parts for 30 days then we should have our full refund back before the 30 days was up which I was in contact with Scavone Plumbing before and after the 30 days to find out where our refund was. Here it is Feb 2014 and we still have not received the rest of our refund from this company who has delayed this matter for so long. This company made my husband aware in the beginning of December 2013 that he has a check for the rest of our refund which again we still have not received from company. It does not matter that we have a new hot water tank with permits all we want is our full refund on the warranty from our hot water tank from this company. Again I feel this company is giving the run around and cannot even back up his story in regards to this. I don't understand how a company can be in business and treat people this way. This is unacceptable on the companies half and needs to give us the rest of our money and own up to there mistakes that they caused to us. I have all my ducks in a row with all my proof that they owe us the $[redacted] this company will pay us either way.Final Business Response the customers water tank was covered under the warrenty of its manufactor, [redacted] as previously stated. It is again stated a limited warrenty by its manufactor mr [redacted] stated she called [redacted] in July about said warrenty..again the [redacted] were paid there rebate before Scavone Plumbing recieved credit. The [redacted] have a new water tank installed and with city permits with parts and labor an removal of old tank along with the limited warrenty refund we feel that if the customer is looking for a full refund on the warrenty of their old tank they should return a call to the product manufactur [redacted]

Allowance for alternative plumber services.Business Response Contractor entered into a contract with the Customer on [redacted] 2014 for the installation of two (2) [redacted] boilers and hot water tanks (along with other related work). Contractor performed the work under the contract, and further, has expended additional time and money to inspect and repair Customer's heating system after the Customer (or Customer's agent) made alterations to the system after installation (which voids any warranty). In response to the customer's Revdex.com complaint, Contractor responds as follows:Customer Complaint 1: "Contractor refused to provide warranty parts & Service for replacement of failed safety module sensor in newly installed [redacted] Gas Boiler"Contractor Response 1: Contractor provided the Customer with the appropriate paperwork required to register her equipment with [redacted] Upon information and belief, the Customer failed to submit the provided [redacted] Plan Application to [redacted] within thirty (30) days of installation of the equipment. Customer Complaint 2: "First time of no heat discovered electric board not functioning. Second time found thermostat not completely wired. Third time found unit to be jumped to bypass [redacted] sensor which never worked from the state of installation."Contractor Response 2: Contractor performed proper installation of the gas boiler and water tank. Upon being called to the location multiple times, for various system issues, it became clear to Contractor that the Customer (or Customer's agent) had made changes to the system post-installation. For example, the wire which was inserted to jump the low water sensor was inserted into the system after installation by Contractor. Work performed on the equipment by the customer after installation voids the warranty. Customer Complaint 3:Customer complaints that it was charged [redacted] for removal of asbestos. Customer seems to imply from its itemized spreadsheet that the insulation was fiberglass, not asbestos.Contractor Response 3:The asbestos removal refers to asbestos which is contained in the old tanks that were removed. This charge is not related to the external fiberglass insulation the customer is referring to, but rather internal asbestos that Contractor was required to have removed by a licensed asbestos removal company. Customer Complaint 4:Customer complains in an itemized spreadsheet of costs that a fire permit was not pulled with regards to this job. Contractor Response 4:A fire permit was pulled for this job. Contractor has a copy of the permit pulled from the Northborough Fire Department for the customer's address, for performance of the work in the contract.Customer Complaint 5:Customer complains in an itemized spreadsheet of costs that an electrical permit was not pulled with regards to this job. Contractor Response 5:The electrical subcontractor is responsible for pulling the permit for any electrical work. Contractor will inquire with its subcontractor regarding the permit on this job, and will work with the subcontractor and the customer to resolve any permit issues. Customer Complaint 6: Customer provided Contractor with a spreadsheet itemizing the amounts Customer wants refunded. Such refund includes [redacted] in failed rebates for [redacted] Thermostats and the Outdoor Boiler Reset ControlsContractor Response 6: Contractor is not responsible for ensuring the customer successfully processes their rebate(s). However, Contractor provided the information required for the [redacted] rebate. Judging by the [redacted] paperwork received by the customer, there is an issue with the model numbers supplied for the [redacted] Thermostats and the Outdoor Boiler Reset Controls. Contractor does not receive, nor follow up, on rebates received by its customers, and Contractor has no way of verifying what rebates this particular customer has received. Contractor will work with the customer to supply the appropriate model numbers to effectuate such rebate. Customer Complaint 7:Customer provided Contractor with a spreadsheet itemizing the amounts Customer wants refunded. Such spreadsheet itemizes a [redacted] shortfall for rebates regarding the [redacted] boilers.Contractor Response 7:Contractor is not responsible for ensuring the customer successfully processes their rebate(s). However, Contractor provided the information required for the [redacted] rebate. The rebate paperwork shows that the rebate amount for the gas boilers is [redacted] per boiler. Contractor does not know why the rebate for the boilers received by the customer was only [redacted] Furthermore, Contractor does not receive, nor follow up, on rebates received by its customers. As such, Contractor has no way of verifying what rebates this particular customer has received. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Contractor entered into a contract with the Customer on [redacted] 2014 for a New Heating System. Contractor did NOT complete the work under the terms of said contract. No alterations have been made to this new heating system by the Customer or a Customer's Agent. Customer has never provided cause for warranty voids. Contractor is making false statements throughout the response to Customer's original complaint. Specific rebuttals to each complaint goes as follows: RESPONSE 1. There is NO provision by [redacted] that requires registration forms to be completed by 30 days of final installation. See [redacted] of [redacted] warranty. An Extended Warrant Package may be obtained by the contractor ONLY with the third party [redacted] If this extended warranty exists, contractor must provide copy of application to Customer. See [redacted] from [redacted] warranty email for Customer claim. RESPONSE 2. Contractor is liable for parts and labor for one year of service per contract. Contractor has been called on 4 different occasions due to NO HEAT. Example used for excuse to void warranty is erroneous. Customer has no knowledge as to wiring schematics and had no motive to make changes to the system post-installation. Customer has documented evidence that Contractor was called on [redacted] 2014 & repeatedly again on [redacted] 2015 - NO HEAT. Both Customer and Tenant watched as contractor took apart the unit in question, where the CONTRACTOR took a piece of wire to the connector that should have been housed in the [redacted] sensor. He replaced a fuse, stuck the same wire into the same connector and had to replace another fuse. The sensor was installed upside down and may have failed shortly after installation. It is covered under warranty. The Contractor used his cell phone to record serial number and send request for new part from factory. The Contractor held firm with the claim that the factory would be sending out the part to the Customer. After 30+ days the Consumer called the Warranty Department to find that NO record of part had been ordered. On [redacted] Customer again called warranty department to locate order.(see [redacted] RESPONSE 3. There was NO asbestos in "old tanks". What is "old tank"? If it is Oil tanks then oil tanks are made of steel. No asbestos is found in oil tanks. If it is meant to mean the old boilers, then the 2 Peerless boilers removed by a shirtless 3rd party who, when asked if there was any asbestos in the casing, said no, the insulation was fiberglass. If the Contractor did pay to have asbestos removed, please supply the certificate of compliance. RESPONSE 4. Customer contacted the Firs Department looking for a fire permit, they had none on file. 2 permits were pulled by Environmental Company for removal of oil tanks - copies of which customer supplied to Contractor on [redacted] RESPONSE 5. Electrical Contractor is NOT responsible for pulling the permit for the electrical work done to install the units. Under [redacted] it clearly states that the Contractor, under his contract, is responsible for pulling permits as they are governed by the Contractors License. The job has been completed. No resolution between Contractor and electrical subcontractor after completion of said contract can change the outcome of contract misrepresentation. Contractor is in violation of [redacted] and is open for license revocation. RESPONSE 6. Customer has repeatedly requested documentation from Contractor for rebate compliance, starting on [redacted] On Mon. [redacted] Contractor was made aware of [redacted] shortfall in rebate. The contractor filled out the original rebate form and used it as an incentive to sell his product, which [redacted] and [redacted] recommend. If the Contractor is now stating he will work with Customer to supply appropriate model numbers to effectuate said rebate, why has he taken 9 months to cooperate? It was a simple request to receive an itemized invoice that was necessary to comply with rebate requirements. Certain products in the contract were substituted either inadvertently or on purpose and some of those items may not have qualified for the rebate...only the Contractor would know that. RESPONSE 7. Contractor knows exactly why there was a shortfall of [redacted] in the boiler rebate. The packing slip he provided for rebate purposes failed to list the two letters "CT" after [redacted] which denotes the efficiency of the boilers and their subsequent rebate amount. This was discussed several times throughout the past 9 months. IN CONCLUSION: This Contractor has willfully misrepresented his position, his efforts, his legal compliances, his completion of the contract, his terms of the contract, items in the contract, as well as his workmanship in good standing. I have 7 PDF documents that will substantiate my claims and will provide them to Revdex.com for perusal, if they cannot be attached hereto. I also have a detailed log of events from the beginning and all of the text correspondence between the Customer and the Contractor. I will be proceeding to file a small claims action against this Contractor. Final Consumer Response It is by no means resolved. While I sincerely appreciate the fact that the Revdex.com has done it's best to create a forum of discussion between myself and the contractor,Mr. [redacted] has made no attempts to resolve the issues presented. Some of those issues were an easy fix and would have not cost him any out-of-pocket expense, yet he refused to take responsibility for his work and actions and is now referring me to his attorney. I paid him in full before the work was completed [redacted] shame on me.I do not want the case closed with a resolved notation. Please close it with a non-resolution notation. The general public should have some indication of how this contractor works, so they can make an informed decision and hopefully notexperience the same results I did using Scavone Plumbing and Heating of Worcester. Thank you.Final Business Response the permits are at city hall and she can access them there, they are there for public review. The rebates were altered and that is was why she only got a partial rebate. As for the asbestos, old water tanks have them and they are removing all of them no matter how much is in them.
