Since 1/30/2013 we have made three payments totaling more than $1,000. to [redacted], the owner of SCH Alarm Systems, for services to update our residential alarm system, including replacing a key pad, replacing at least one smoke detector, and purchasing and installing three new carbon monoxide detectors.To date, 4/10/2014, none of the promised work has been done and none of the hardware we paid for has been delivered despite several repeated promises from [redacted] that the service and/or the hardware would be delivered. [redacted] will once in a while return our phone calls asking for the services to be performed OR, providing the paid for hardware (so we can hire another installer), OR make cash restitution in the amount of $1,047. He has promised more than once to provide the installation of the equipment even specifying times and dates but never showing up, nor calling to explain his failure to do so.Product_Or_Service: smoke and carbon monoxide detectorsAccount_Number: SCH Tickets: # 5907Desired SettlementWe simply want our money back. We would not have advanced the funds except for the fact that since our first doing business with [redacted] on [redacted] he has always done the service requested to our satisfaction prior to 2013.We're quite sure that he has not purchased the promised equipment or if he did, it may have been used (as was a keypad)and not new accordingly we just want our money back, rather than taking a chance that the hardware he might provide would be used. Business Response RE: XXXXXX CONSUMER [redacted]Mr. [redacted] has been a customer of mine since 1/05/91. We have always had a good report until recently when he asked me to check the keypad on his system which I promptly responded to. I advised Mr. [redacted] that he needed a new keypad, the smoke detectors were out of date and the battery needed replacing. I returned and completed the work, And Mr. [redacted] signed off on it. He then asked about CO detectors, Which I then gave him a price that he accepted. Throughout all of this I have had major health issues which I can provide complete records of. This was affecting my ability to work so was using subs as needed. I have tried to accommodate Mr. [redacted] but I believe he felt I was putting him off. He became very upset with me on the phone and even threatened me with action. In one phone call he didn't believe I was in the hospital and I had to put the ER doctor an the phone.At that time I offered to have one of my subs come over and install the CO's, he became very agitated, and said no just supply the CO's and he would install them. My soul purpose in me profession is to make my customers happy. This reflects in my reputation, I have never had a complaint to the in my whole 33 year career. I feel this speaks for itself I tried to deliver the detectors but my sub was unsuccessful. If it will resolve the situation I will send the CO's with signature upon receipt. I believe I have tried to accommodate Mr. [redacted] even when my health was not good. unfortunately he didn't feel this way. So in closing if this will satisfy the situation please advise me. My only wishes are Mr.[redacted] and I resolve this issue and move on.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)We cannot accept Mr. [redacted]'s proposal because it is no different than what he has promised repeatedly during the last year or so. Did he do some work at the house? Yes. And he got paid for doing it.We're sorry for his health problems, but contrary to his statement, no one on his behalf has ever contacted us for any reason, let alone to schedule a house call to install or even drop off the equipment for which we paid. Nor, we might add, did [redacted] tell us the name of his helper or how we might contact him.Accordingly, all we want is our money back, $1,000+. Mr. [redacted] can deduct what he believes to be a fair amount for the work that he did do. But by our records he spent less than two hours working at the house. We do not count his showing up asking for more money as 'service calls' and will not pay for those times.If [redacted] submits a settlement proposal which we believe to be accurate and reasonable when compared to our notes, this matter can be resolved. Remembering that this situation started with payments we made to him in January of 2013, we believe that we have been more than fair. In deference to his illnesses and family problems, we have ignored his failure to make scheduled service calls without explanation or notification. We have also ignored his failure over a period of literally, several months to return repeated phone calls. Taking the entire experience into consideration, we cannot accept anything other than repayment under the conditions we have made clear.[redacted]
