Schaller Auto World Incorporated Reviews (5)

Review: The car was first serviced at Schaller [redacted] and returned back to me on June 12th. I brought the vehicle in because it was making a humming noise in 6th gear. The dealership told me that the center differential needs to be replaced which would've cost 3500. Instead I had the differential rebuilt by a specialist company in [redacted] called [redacted], well known for repairing and rebuilding [redacted] drivelines. During all of this, the technician, who I trusted my car to, quit the dealership because of pressure from the service managers. Him trying to save me money by repairing only the rear portion of the transmission versus charging me thousands for a rebuild or for a new transmission, was the final straw according to the tech.

When this happened, the foreman was assigned to my car. The foreman was the last person to touch the car and deem it complete. When I received it back, there were plenty of issues with the car. First I noticed there were vaccum leaks all over causing the car to loose pressure, which I couldn't monitor because the boost gauge line was undone as well. I had to pull over on the highway, to do temporary repairs as I returned back to work. Also when assistance service manage [redacted] called and told me that the car was done, that it was making a little bit of noise but that the transmissions usually do. However when I got the car back, this still being the first time I got it back, I shifted in the 3rd and the noise started again, then into 4th it got a little bit louder, 5th was even louder and 6th is just now almost unbearable. IF they drove the car before they gave it back, they probably just drove it around the parking lot. Also with that 5th and 6th gear and very hard to get to, and reverse is almost impossible. Having talked to other shops, they suspect the transmission housing isn't aligned properly. So I brought it back the same day.

At this point a week goes by and they call me saying that they suspect the car needs a transmission rebuild, when it wasn't necessary before. $6500 for a rebuild and $8000 for a new transmission. I just returned the rental car and got my vehicle back, and when I asked the service managers how much I owed them, they said I was all set. When I called the company that serviced the center differential, they, along with other shops said it was unnecessary when it's just the issue of a few other bearings that need to be replaced. Those bearings, or at least additional ones, were ordered by the first tech before he quit.

A little over a week later I was leaving a light down by [redacted] and I shifted from 1st to 2nd and I heard a loud bang. In the beginning I thought it was the transmission, but after having the car towed back to [redacted], upon further investigation, a bolt that goes through an H-Brace that I purchased two years ago came completely out. In fact all four bolts that, not only hold the H-brace in place, but go through the subframe and control arms were loose according to the other tech I wanted to do the repairs. The brace is underneath the transmission cross member and, according to two techs should not have been moved when dealing with the transmission, however Schaller was the last one underneath the car working on that specific area, and it was only those 4 bolts that were loose. When the bolts came out I lost steering completely. If this had happened at higher speeds I could've been killed along with my occupants and others as well, and if that would've happened I would've been blamed for driving too fast/ unsafe just because of the type of car it is. No one would've seen the suspension damage that occurred first nor would anyone have believed me without an eye witness. With that repair, the dealership didn't mention the possibility of it being loose from previous work, they just charged my the $600 without an issue.

Also adding to that last visit, according to the tech, the foreman was telling him to overcharge me and that my car was beat because it was modified.

I currently have a case with [redacted] of America with all the documentation, total costs and dates since the beginning of June. Also since I called [redacted] of America, I was informed by [redacted] that the dealership was not covering the rental cars I needed to get to and from work.Desired Settlement: At this point, I just want my car repaired and the H-brace that was bent replaced since it happened when I lost steering, and I would prefer if it was not repaired at Schaller [redacted] but another [redacted] dealership, however according to [redacted] of America if it is a workmanship issue, they would recommend going back to the original dealership. I wouldn't mind having to pay a portion of it because obviously it would not have been free before. Also for Schaller to pay for the car rentals that no one told me I needed to pay for when initially I was put into a rental because they didn't have a loaner car to provide me, or when I dropped them off to pick up my car.

We have been in contact with the customer and are in the process of resolving his concerns. We have made an offer to him which he verbally accepted and are now working to coordinate a day and time when he can visit the dealership in person so we can complete the items for him.

Review: I purchased [redacted] and was promised 2 free oil changes and a $50 service credit. However, when I went to use my credit, I was told that the General Sales Manager and Sales executive have left the dealership and have not made any note in my file therefore, Schaller [redacted] won't honor any credits.Desired Settlement: I have written to owner of Schallar [redacted] but he has refused to honor service credit promised by his Sales team. I want my credit back.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] emailed me yesterday with this same request. Upon review of his deal paperwork from 2 years ago, there is no indication of any such promise made. Despite the lack of documentation, our General Sales Manager offered to take care of his oil change yesterday. I informed Mr. [redacted] that there is no documentation to support his claim. I also told him that we would be happy to honor his claim if he had anything that supports it. Barring any such documentation, I don't believe that we should be expected to honor a claim that has no supporting documentation.

Review: I bought [redacted] 2014 from Schaller Auto in November 2013. I was promised one free oil change by the sales manager. When I went to get the oil change done in November-2014 after m vehicle completed required miles I was asked to pay for oil change. They said that sales manager did not document free oil change on my file so I will have to pay for oil change.Desired Settlement: Refund the bill for $ 68.00 for oil change.

Response:

I spoke with Mr. [redacted] today and we have resolved his concern. An error was made internally and his credit was not properly recorded. I received the following note from Mr. [redacted] after we spoke earlier today:

"Thank you Mr. Schaller for taking out time to call me. Please feel free to let Revdex.com know that this matter is satisfactorily closed.

Regards,

If you require any further information from me or the dealership, please let me know.

Review: As a first time buyer, I was extremely disappointed in Schaller Auto World. They deceived me! The selling process was displeasing. In the beginning, they printed out the carfax report (only first page) and they presented it to me. After the whole signing process was done, they then handed me the remainder of the carfax report. In the carfax report, it disclosed that the car had been in an accident and was hit in multiple places. I felt the dealership and the salesman did this intentionally. They withheld the information until I had signed all the paperwork at hand. I do not for one bit feel that this business is loyal to its customers. They would of disclosed this information in the beginning especially when they already had the information at hand. The vehicle was already in the process of being sold 2 days before...so information should of have been easily available. I don't like that they withheld the whole accident issue until after I was done signing. Extremely disappointed in Schaller Auto World!

I'm not sure how you handle this matter, but I just wanted to express my dissatisfaction with them. I felt like they took advantage of me!

We are sorry that Ms. [redacted] feels this way. The report she refers to as the first page is the Carfax Vehicle Highlights report and that report states that an accident was reported on the vehicle. The full Carfax report was provided to her later in the process, and although it does provide greater detail, the initial report clearly states that an accident had been reported on the vehicle so this information should not have been a surprise to her. We are sorry that she feels as though we tried to deceive her and do not feel that we attempted to do so in any way whatsoever.

Ms. [redacted] has yet to take delivery of the automobile and we are more than happy to show her other vehicles in our inventory if she wishes to purchase something else or to refund her deposit if she wishes to purchase a vehicle from another dealership. At this time, our schedule indicates that she is supposed to take delivery of the vehicle tomorrow (Friday). If she still wishes to purchase the vehicle, we are happy to complete the process. We ask that Ms. [redacted] contact her salesperson today to let us know how she wishes to proceed.

Review: When I went to trade my 2010 forester in. For the new impreza to save on gas mileage. they told me "it is like trading cars." $9000. left for what I owed on forester. I was like great. I never would have gotten a new car. I had a new car. salesman quote "its like trading cars, but your getting a new car and you will be saving money in the end on gas" I get my bank statement and it says I owe $22,875.61. where did they get the $13,875.61 from???? when I traded my car for $14000. its was like I never traded my car. where did all that money go. I feel so helpless. and hope the Revdex.com can help me.

Product_Or_Service: subaru impreza

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I want to pay what they said I owed on my car $9000. NOT $22,875.61 A differnce of $13,875.61 I would even pay the differnce of 13,875.61 understanding that there is tax and other things @ the end of buying a car.

I spoke to the customer on the phone and explained in detail how we arrived at all the figures. I have also invited the customer to the dealership for a meeting where we can review all figures and documents that were signed during the delivery process. We feel going over all figures in person would be more beneficial to the customer. The customer reviewed and signed four (4) different forms that fully disclosed all pertinent figures. These forms are: 1) CT LAW 553 Retail Installment Contract with Federal Truth In Lending Disclosure. 2)Dealership Invoice 3) Dealership Purchase and Sale Agreement. 4) Dealership Disclosure of Products Purchased and Terms of Sale. As the customer states herself in the complaint we told her what she owed on the Forester (actually $9,974 not $9,000). This is the trade vehicle, not the new vehicle being purchased. The purchase vehicle is an Impreza Limited that the customer factory ordered.

New Vehicle Purchase Price: $25,085

Less Trade Value of Forester:- $14,000

Plus Payoff Balance on Forester + $9,974.63

Net Vehicle Balance: $21,059.63 Plus Fees

Dealer Conveyance Fee $399

Optional VIN Etch: $169

Optionsl Simoniz: $574

CT Registration: $111

CT Sales Tax : $776.41

= Total Amount Financed of $23,089.04

Payments for 72 months at $350.09 (lower than the customers previous payment on the trade vehicle)

It has been 90 days since the final purchase paperwork was completed. Again, we would be happy to meet and review all paperwork with the customer.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/05/16) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

the numbers make no sense! I dont accept this response. I didnt order the factory car. they did! I didnt call the factory myself! I didnt know how long it was goin take! again listening to what I thought was a trusted salesman! .

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/05/17) */

We have been unable to reach an agreement with the customer. We have invited her into the dealership to review all paperwork and figures several times. It is simply not possible to give her a new $25,000 vehicle for the balance owed on the vehicle she traded and which still had a remaining balance on it. We do not understand the customers comments about the "factory order".

Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2013/05/20) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I was mislead and lied too. im still in shock over this whole ordeal. they told me you only owe what you owed on the forester. thats all I am goin to pay. just because im a woman doesnt mean they can take advantage of me. :(

Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2013/05/21) */

We are sorry that the customer feels the way she feels and are disappointed that her impression of the dealership is so negative. We have tried to review her purchase in person and have not been given the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately we do not find that a resolution can be reached at this time.
