Schomberg Kennels Reviews (5)

We felt compelled to write about our experience with puppies purchased from Schomberg Rottweilers. We bought a female puppy from Nancy in 2011; she turned out to be a very beautiful and loving companion for our family. She had some minor behavioral issues that we recognized such as rushing toward people while barking at them. She never hurt anyone but scared the heck out of people many times. We ended up getting an invisible fence due to our unsuccessful attempts to end the behavior over the years. We lost our girl at age7 1/2 due to bone cancer. Very devastating, but we understood that these breeds are prone to that. Last year, we bought another female pup from Nancy, she is a little over a year old now and the real reason we are writing. This one is unlike any of the previous 5 Rottweiler's (none from Nancy) that we have had the pleasure of sharing our lives with. She has some major behavioral issues. We were recently kicked out of the dog obedience class that we've been taking her to which was very disheartening. She has extreme anxiety issues, lunging at the other dogs, barking ferociously. I could tell that the other people and their dogs were actually scared. We've given this dog nothing but loving care since we got her at 10 weeks old. She loves people and is not a threat to them, but she seems to feel the need to dominate other dogs at all cost. When she knows she has done something bad and we try to correct her she will taunt us and growl, and even snap at us.
We will try one-on-one obedience training now to see if that works. We don't know what else to do. This dog seems flat out insane. We also had to have her tail re-cropped about a month after we got her; the bone was sticking through the skin and became infected. Our vet said it was not cropped correctly. We do not recommend this breeder to anyone after what we've been through so far with our new girl. After recalling the "fleet" of dogs on the premises on "stand by" for breeding more behavioral problems into more dogs we thought we should share our experience with the public. In our opinion, quality dogs are not the priority of this breeder, only quantity. This breeder should be reported to the AKC.

Well, what started out as a cute puppy was short lived, our female we purchase began to show extreme night time anxiety and after having two separate dog behavior specialist diagnose her behavior they came to the conclusion that she suffers from lack of motherly pheromones which are gained from when a female is relaxed and " motherly" to the puppies from birth. My dogs mom was so stressed and anxious that the breeder Nancy couldn't corner her for us to check her out, I should've known better then to buy from that litter. I was bitten in the face from our girl when she was about a year old I I had to get 11 stitches on my face.Naturally I forgave her, the bite was what the vet called a startled bite. She was so anti social that EVER night after work we would put her in the car and drive to an area where no one was there because her aggression was so severe. The vet that spayed her said she had the most dangerous personality a large dog could have, fear aggression, in other words she wouldn't cower to fear, she would lash out and be in full blown attack mode.We purchased the highest quality muzzle for her and added an extra gate on our porch, just in case she ever got out the door she wouldn't be able to leave the porch. Long story short she died last Saturday after a brief unknown illness, one vet said it resembled Addisons disease but her strange symptoms had two different vet clinics in able to understand what was wrong. She was anemic, No white blood cells, half of the red to be normal, absolutely No blood sugar and after administering more just disappeared. She had no fever, clear lungs but couldn't stop panting. She had low proteins and her body was flooded with insulin. After two thousand dollars worth of life saving tests and scans the vet said she was gone. Five years old, what a damn shame! What bothers me the most is that when a puppy is brought into this world it isn't about how nice the parents look, the size of their head, their weight? It is more then that, what about the important socialization of a young pup, the genetic quality of the parents? The hips? Are they OFA certified? No! What, not important? Too expensive? The genetic faults that are carried from an over need female? A female that has five litters in their short life? How can you call a puppy good when they live in a barn with one woman taking care of them? Its impossible! Its greed! There isnt a champion blood line living in theyre stock! They are advertising right now that they have two puppies that are very fluffy, long hair Rottweiler? Seriously? Be honest, that right there is a fault in the breed standard, not a special cuddly one! My first Rottweiler from them was diagnosed at 7 with terminal cancer and I lost her at 8 and I thought that was young! I don't regret having and loving my Bella for the short five years I had her but I do have such regrets that a dog bred under those conditions have a hard life, unheathly and such anxiety. Its sad

I bought my very first dog-a female pup this past summer from this breeder. She however, didn't really work out with my family. I called the breeder back and explained to her about my situation. I took the pup back and did an exchange with another pup that was more suited to my situation/family. My pup is now 10 months and is very family oriented. She is beautiful. This breeder is really helpful and very professional. Again, thank you Schomberg Kennels.

I have owned Rotts for over 20yrs, I am a repeat customer of Schomberg kennels, my 1st rottweiler [redacted] was PERFECT! Her markings, size, and temperament was excellent! She died in July and I'm still grieving for my loss! So to try to fill my broken heart we, naturally went back to Schomberg to buy a new puppy, she is slowly turning into a wonderful friend, like [redacted], she is beautiful, extremely smart and such a nice snuggler!Schomberg has produced 2 great dogs that we are very proud of! As with my 1st rott, we get a lot of complements on how strong and beautiful she carries herself!!

No complaints here!
