Negative
I bought a Schultz home 3 years ago. I have repaired my roof the last two years. It is leaking again! I am unhappy with the customer service and the workmanship! I think there should be at least a three year warranty on the roof and siding. June 2 , 2022 I thought buying brand new I could be worry free for at least 10 yrs. I am a widow on a fixed income and to replace the roof is $20,000.00. Probably more this year.

We started our journey to build a home in the summer/fall of 2017. My husband and I went out to Oakbank, looking at houses for sale and stumbled across the area with new builds going up. We fell in love with the designs and attention to detail of the Schulz Homes and the company. We stopped in to a job site and spoke with a man who we would later come to know as David ***. He was welcoming and took us through the already sold walk out bungalow across the street. We knew then, that we would be building with Schulz. By the following January in 2018, we were back out in Oakbank meeting with Nicole *** (the Realtor for Schulz), and started the discussion to have our dream home built. By May, we had the ball rolling and everything was underway. Schulz is a custom home builder so my husband and I got to completely draw and design out whole house from start to finish. Nicole, Peter, Joyce, David, Devin and the entire Schulz Team were very understanding of our questions and they answered everything promptly and had no problem making changes to the plan to support our needs and wants. There are so many amazing options for aesthetics and a wide range of products to choose from. You pick your budget and they give you the options available within that budget. They were upfront of about added costs for items we changed along the way, and they included us in the entire process. From start to finish we were completely satisfied with the service provided by Schulz Construction. If you are on the fence about building, and have heard horror stories about BIG builders, and not being treated like anything but another sold property. You do not have to worry about any of that with Schulz Construction or Nicole. They will put your mind at ease after your very first meeting, and they will make the experience one of the best of your life. We wouldn't change a thing about the process we endured and we are very thankful to now be a part of the Schulz Family.

We were planning to build our dream house in West St. Paul, one of our friend Raj recommend his house builder SCHULZ CONSTRUCTIONS
We met Nicole who is Realtor for Schulz Construction she answered all our not hundreds I think thousands of our questions. Then we met builder Peter Schulz. He is amazing personality as builder he just doesn't sit in office and look at papers. He works onsite with all workers.David (who is brother of Peter) and Peter will be onsite all day for answer your questions and changes onsite.
We are so happy we went with Schulz Construction and were able to acquire an excellent lake view lot. The quality of our home surpassed our expectations and we were fortunate enough to have an excellent Builder on-site to take us through the process, who really has a passion for his trade and cares about the homebuyers. I would definitely build again with Schulz Construction if the opportunity arises and highly recommend them to anyone interested, you will not be disappointed.Thank you Peter and Nicole :)

Two years ago, I was looking to sell my home and buy another. I was looking for something further away from the schools, but in my same community. My search lead me to looking at a few Schulz Construction homes. Everyone I looked at had good layouts and seemed to be of excellent quality. I took it one step further and went and knocked on a few doors that I knew where built by Schultz, and everyone just raved about Schulz Construction and Peter.
My experience with Schulz Construction was just as equal to rave about. Peter always took the time to explain things to me and was able to accommodate minor last-minute changes with ease. My custom items where done with great detail. Peter himself called to confirm measurements and details of the items. At Peter's request we met with him a few times and all the work was finished as requested. Peter always responded to all emails, texts, and phone calls and happy to explain things.
Although I don't know much about building codes, etc, I do know that the work done in my home is of high quality. The electrical, isn't just a mangled mess that you see in so many homes, it is clean, and tidy. Every electrical wire going to the box is neatly placed and labeled. The water lines are also just as clean and tidy and the cold and hot water lines never cross. Although these are things that you don't look at in every home, it's nice knowing that the care was put into yours.
I have been in my home for just over a year now. Any and all fixes have been done, this included, pop screws, walls repainted as required, caulking, door adjustments, and sump pump fix. All things under warrantee have been fixed/repaired without question. All Schulz workers and subcontractors are polite and well mannered. The workers always take their shoes off before entering my home and clean up everything afterwards. My home is always left as clean as when they come in.
Peter takes great pride in the work he does and the communities he builds in. One of the first things I had noticed in all the Schultz build sites is that they are always kept clean and tidy, which shows respect of those neighbours near by. During a winter storm, there was a vehicle stuck in the snow down the street, and Schulz workers where there helping the person out. Nothing says more to community then helping your neighbours! A year later, and Schulz Construction is still working on building new homes on my street. They are very respectful of noise level, and its always appreciated.
Working with Schulz Construction was a great experience. Peter was great to deal with and is someone that cares; he doesn't build houses but homes for families to grow in.

We built our dream home with Schulz construction this year and couldn't be happier. We were referred to Schulz Construction through a family member who recently built with them. We saw first-hand the care and detail that went into their homes. Nicole, the realtor, was a pleasure to deal with and always very prompt in getting back to us with any questions or concerns we may have had. We were able to select custom features that specifically met our family's needs and wants. Throughout the building process Peter, the owner, was always very accommodating and flexible with our requests. We couldn't be more pleased with the entire process and the outcome of our dream home. We get SO many compliments on our home as people truly recognize the quality. If we've had any problems Peter has been attentive to our concerns and has always resolved them without any hesitation. After the completion of our home, we have recommended this builder to several of our friends and family who are now currently building with them! Thank you so much for allowing our vision to come to reality!

Best realtor Nicole and best builder Schulz , I have ever experienced
they have lot patience ,they listen every single word you say and they explain every detail Ask as many questions you have, they are always there to answer.

1000 % satisfied from their services.

We chose to build our dream home with *** Construction. Our realtor, Nicole ***, is also the realtor for *** Construction and told us about them. We wanted a builder whom we thought would be trust-worthy and provide quality workmanship and stand behind their product. A smaller, custom builder really appealed to us as we thought that the customer service would be better than going with a large builder. Nicole spoke very highly of the owner, Peter ***, and assured us that he has direct communication with all of his clients and that he does everything possible to make sure his clients are happy. When we got to the contracting phase, it surprised us that our lawyer advised us that *** used a residential form of Offer to Purchase instead of a Construction Home Agreement. This resulted in higher legal fees for us as it took longer to fit a square peg into a round hole so to speak.

The creation of the floor plan was a frustrating process. Numerous times we received an updated draft which was missing previous corrections. We had to be so careful when reviewing updated drafts to ensure that new requests were applied and previous requests remained included. I would have thought that *** would have appreciated us taking the time to thoroughly review the floor plan and avoid problems down the road resulting from oversights, but instead, we were made to feel that we are very fussy. In addition to frustration, *** lack of attention to detail ended up costing us more money. On an updated draft of the floor plan we noticed a cantilever (bump out) on the front of the house which was not in the contract. We questioned *** about this, and were told that the cantilever represented 2 feet of the length of the room, therefore if the cantilever was removed, the length of that room would be 2 feet shorter. Thus, we paid for a 12 foot room but were going to get only a 10 foot room. *** said that if we wanted to have the 12 feet that was in the contract, we would need to eliminate the cantilever by extending the foundation at OUR cost. We could have disputed this as clearly the use of a cantilever was not in the contract but we compromised and agreed to share the cost of extending the foundation. This was a huge compromise on our part and we don't think the average buyer would have agreed to pay more money for something that was already part of the purchase price.

As construction moved along, it became apparent to us that details were being consistently over-looked. It seems as though *** used various measurements and specifications as guidelines rather than requirements. For example, we had specified that the shelving for our entertainment unit was to be 14 inches deep to accommodate our tv components. Instead, it was built to 12 inches and wouldn't fit the tv components. The tv plaque was also built much much larger than the size we had specified to fit our tv. Many things in the kitchen were not built to the agreed measurements - cabinet mouldings, shaker rails, cabinet depths, etc. While the specifications had been agreed to in writing, Peter looked to us to see if we would compromise and just accept what was delivered. We did compromise on some items, but were not prepared to compromise on others. We only wanted what we had agreed to. Rather than correcting these items to provide what was agreed to, Peter seemed frustrated with us that we wouldn't compromise and repeatedly made us feel bad for wanting the deficiencies corrected and told us several times how much money it would cost him, even though this was no fault of ours whatsoever.

There were several instances in which the workmanship was poor and we had to bring it to *** attention to get corrected. It was surprising that the site manager would have permitted this level of quality. For example, the backsplash was very obviously installed crooked. Our basement door was actually installed directly in front of the last stair riser so you would have had to open the door to step down from the last stair. We don't understand why we had to bring obviously deficient items to their attention. Even after fixing the door, it is still on an angel and very noticeably crooked.

We tried very hard to keep an amicable relationship with *** throughout the build as we wanted the experience to be a positive one. However, as the build progressed and deficiencies continued to arise, it became increasingly difficult. We feel we have reasonable expectations of quality and any other buyer would find the level of quality on certain items unacceptable as well.

At the time of walk-through, shortly before possession, we felt that we still had a positive relationship with *** and had faith that unfinished and defective workmanship/materials would be addressed in a reasonable period of time. One major item which had to be dealt with is our ensuite shower. The quality of workmanship was very poor and unprofessional and we were very disappointed. In discussing it with Peter, he suggested how to fix it and I expressed my concern that it still wouldn't look professional. He assured me that if that was the case, it would be fixed again to ensure we were happy with the final result. Work was done in an attempt to correct the deficiencies, but in viewing it two nights before possession, it was clear that a quick fix had been done instead of properly fixing it. We brought this to Peter's attention in hope that we would be given assurance that it would be properly fixed. However, he simply said it would be fixed according to Manitoba construction standards and we wouldn't receive our keys until further notice. He told us to speak with the realtor, Nicole, and he hung up on us. That was the last time Peter spoke with us.

It's unfortunate that the build was left on such a negative note. We were so excited to build our dream home and thought we had selected the right builder, but we are very disappointed in Peter's behaviour and lack of follow through on deficiencies and unfinished items. It is almost a month since possession and aside from fixing/completing a couple of outstanding items, *** has completely ignored us. We received a brief email on possession advising us that several of the outstanding items are "wishes" as they are not viewed with the construction building standards and promised they would be in contact with us the following week. To date, they have not contacted us about these items.

We were given a manual on possession of the home which says that "We will do everything possible to make sure your experience with us is pleasant and that your new home will give many years of wonderful memories." That definitely does not reflect the treatment we have received.
