Schuylkill Memorial Park

Review: Three years ago my grandfather passed away and was buried at Schuylkill Memorial Park. He had pre planned where to be buried to take that burden off of his family. Part of his preneed included the memorial to be placed on his grave. When he was buried and the grave had been closed, it was left for almost a year without grass cover but rather large fist sized stones. Grass seed was finally laid after numerous requests by my family, however this was not tended to properly and never took well. Additionally, during the months immediately following his passing our family asked that the vase which had been purchased as part of the marker be installed in the open grapefruit sized hole in the plaque. This issue of the vase not being present on the grave prompted the cemetery personnel to imply that our family had taken it. The appearance of the grave has never been fixed or settled by the cemetery. My aunt and uncle ended up buying dirt and grass seed to address this issue themselves and with normal care and attention, got grass to grow. This year the gravesite was destroyed while preparing another person's grave, despite there being an access point to the other grave on the other side (one which would not disturb any graves, as is proven by photographs). It is believed that during this time the base of the marker on my grandfather's grave was broken. This situation has been brought to the cemetery's attention on numerous occasions and most recently two employees were very rude to my family when our concerns were yet again voiced. Their grudging offer to "patch" the broken base is not acceptable especially given the attitude which accompanied it and the statement that "it will probably get broken again when we drive over it." The lack of care shown by the staff of Schuylkill Memorial Park made my grandfather's good intentions of taking this burden from his family all for nothing and have resulted in constant stress and aggravation on our part as we attempt to honor his simple wishes.Desired Settlement: I would like proper grass cover to be installed and maintained over his gravesite, as well as the marker base to be replaced with granite as it appears the cemetery believes that they are likely to break the concrete ones on a regular basis. I would also like written statements declaring that my grandfather's grave will not be used as a driveway to access other graves unless there are NO other points of access.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that part of this resolution is satisfactory to me. The business my main concern, but it was with a great deal of debate. The other issues have not been fixed and the company seems to be little concerned with resolving them.
