December 21, Dear MrsLinda, I am writing you in response to a complaint submitted on December 19, 2016, ID# [redacted] , by Mr [redacted] First, we are a small company even though we work in many statesWe have a limited staff but, most of our staff have been with the company for over ten yearsWe make every attempt to answer phone calls when they ring but, sometimes, especially around holidays we cannot answer all live callsEmployees want/need their time off and we make our best efforts to speak to every person that calls or leaves a messageMr [redacted] was told correctly that I am the only individual that performs the analysisIf he had replied to our Data Request letter mailed to him around July of 2015, his analysis would be finalized by nowI have included a copy of the request with this response and ask that he collect the data we need and mail it to us at the address belowIn the event that he is unable to acquire the data needed, we still need the additional information asked in the letter and we will make every attempt to work with what we have but, it will affect his refund if one is dueTo summarize the attached letter, we must have years of historical data prior to the installation of our product then the years since the product was installedMr [redacted] has only provided months of electrical usage dataOur analytical system requires a minimum of years/months of data to complete the analysis of the customer usageAnything less would not be accurate nor fair to neither the customer nor SEIReal example, we had an actual customer that submitted only one year of historical dataIt was an extremely cold winter and extremely hot summer for his locationHis analysis resulted in a savings of 122% because we had to extrapolate the single year usage for the entire next monthsWithout a shadow of a doubt, this is not fair to the customer and likewise in other cases when the weather/usage is minimal, it is not fair for SEIWe have found, through many hours of analyzing actual energy usage, years of historical data in the customer’s location will, in over 80% of the cases, experience very mild and very extreme energy usage in both winter and summer monthsThis is a must and is the only method of calculating the most arcuate savings in a given homeOur policy for any customer that does not provide the required historical data is to discount any refund by 20% for each year of missing historical usage data Simply said, without actual data we cannot provide an accurate analysisWe will be awaiting Mr [redacted] ’s responseRegards, [redacted] [redacted] @bellsouth.net Tell us why here

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:First of all, I want you to see the link of emails (my printer was not working so I could not print or scan it into a document)that shows that I did send emails and also phone calls/left messages*** Also, we were misinformed by the person demonstrating at the presentation because we were NOT told anything about having to wait years to do an analysis comparison because I promise you if that would have been mentioned, I definitely would not have agreed to go with the installationAlso, the product is DEFINITELY not stapled in my attic, it was just rolled out and laid on top!!!!!! I once offered to the finance company when I was disputing that they should at least have the common courtesy to send someone out to see if it was possibly installed wrong but NEVER once would anyone ever SPEAK to me or respond to any emails or messages that I leftAlso, while I was disputing with the finance company and was on the phone, the representative was talking to another representative who had another customer complaining/disputing about the same exact thing with your company!!!! Also, I did ori***lly send the utility bill comparison from the year that we were in the home, I could not provide anytime prior to thatLast but not least, I have NEVER received any paperwork except for the ori***l presentation calculation of what it would cost from the representative who came to the house and rushed us into agreeing to have it installedThen he had the installation date written on the form and called someone while he was at our home to schedule itI have NOTHING that indicates all that the company is stating in his response to this dispute!!!! I understand that the product may have been customized for my home and my space and can not be re-sold and I would be willing to pay a portion of the material but it was NOT stapled to anything in my attic and could be rolled up and taken away! I am willing to possibly pay 1/of the cost which would be around $but No more than that, which I feel is MORE than fair
Regards,
*** ***

Not sure what Mr*** is looking for in the way of paperworkAll is needed for the pledge is a copy of the signed work orderIf we have the customer in our system we do not ask for the customers copy because we will know the customer is a legitimate customer of oursIf we for some reason do not have the customer in our system we will request a copy of the signed work order from the customerTo date this has never happenedThere is no contract other than the work orderOn the work order there is a signature line for acceptance of the proposal to proceed with installation and paymentAlso there is a separate signature for the completion of installationMr*** signed the acceptance of proposal on 1/4/and the completion on 1/14/There are no guarantee of savings outside of our month pledgeAs I have said previously, we have customers that save a lot, other who do notIn the case of the customers who do not save the cost of the product minus installation & finance fees, we will reimburse the difference of the realized savings and net cost at the end of monthsThis effectively results in the customer having a zero cost, except installation & finance charges at the end of monthsNot all customers qualify for this but Mr***’s work order did not indicate that he did not qualifyI have included a blank copy of our pledge for Mr***’s comfort but he is NOT required to present this back to us at the end of his monthsOur product is the best in the industry! 99% aluminum top & bottom with Mylar barrier to prohibit thermal transferIt is extremely durable and tough to the point it cannot easily be tore or rippedYou cannot buy our product in stores, nor any product similarMost of our competitors use a much cheaper product with a mirror backing made from plasticAll plastic breaks down and becomes brittle over time due to the heating & cooling cycleAluminum is the ONLY material used inside of electronics to dissipate heat (heat sinks) from sensitive circuits & components. Aluminum is the ONLY material used to build radiators to cool the water in your vehicle, the condensing core, to cool you in your air condition in your autos and also in your home We have requested for Mr*** *** to contact you and set up an appointment to stop by and check the product within the next few weeksHe will check/verify and repair any issue he finds with our productAlso verify the attic has proper ventilation which is the single most important function required for our product and all other insulating products to workOnce again, I request that Mr& Mrs*** to mail or email us their billing information so we can start their analysisThere may actually be no savings and if so, will require us to investigate more but until we can at least analyze the 9-months since the product has been installed there is nothing we can or will doThanks, *** ***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The entire presentation was misleading, I NEVER received anything in writing indicating anything that is being said by the company (it is their word against mine) I have not received a contract of any kind!! The product is cheaply made and was not installed professionally (still feel someone should have offered to come out and make sure that their installer completed the work professionally and appropriately). The Salesman at the presentation did NOT say anything about the 60 month comparison and actually what he told us was that we should see at least a 30% increase in our utility bills and never once said how long we would need to wait to see that increase. I would like to see the SIGNED contract that they have on file because I do not have one! I will have no other alternative but to seek further legal action!!

Dear Mrs. Clopton,

To have your energy usage evaluated, we require 60 months of energy usage prior to your install date and the 60 months since the install. Please mail your info to the above address. If you have any questions please call our office number above.

We do not have any records of Mrs. [redacted] contacting our office other than when we were contacted by [redacted] the finance company on Mrs. [redacted]’s behalf. Once we provided the information [redacted] asked for we were told the case was closed. As for her complaint of no savings, we will be glad to...

evaluate her homes performance from January 2017 until now if she will send us her utility bills (gas & electric). We require 5 years prior to the installation of our product and the time from the install to current billed month. We then we analyze her energy usage to date. As for removing the product, we do not offer a refund or removal guarantee due to the fact that our product is customized to her home. Our material is cut, stapled etc. around all features of her home and can no longer be resold or used. The only guarantee/pledge SEI offers is a 60 months performance pledge. If Mrs. [redacted] does not save the cost of our product (amount paid minus installation & finance fees), we will refund the difference of her savings over the 60 months and the cost. We sell our products all over the east, central and south east of the USA. To date we have never had a customer that did not save on their energy. Some customer save only in the winter, some only in the summer and other save both. We have customers that only have savings during extreme temperatures cold and/or hot. All of our analysis performed on 60 months of data will include weather data. Using weather data is the ONLY way to determine actual energy demand hence usage demand. We use the 5 years of historical data to establish the homes baseline kWh usage given the weather for the historical frame. That data is then used to determine the amount of kWh the home would have used without SEI-100 installed for the last 60 months. The analysis is a very data intense process but actually very simple in structure. It simply measures the energy usage before SEI products compared to after the products with respect to weather. If Mrs. [redacted] will provide us copies of her billing from January 2011 through September 2017 we will perform a partial analysis and send her the results. This will include many attributes as to the energy consumption, energy cost increases or decreases, home efficiency rating etc.  Thank you. [redacted] Tell us why here...

Dear Mrs. Linda, I am...

writing you in response to a complaint submitted on December 19, 2016, ID# [redacted], by Mr. [redacted].  First, we are a small company even though we work in many states. We have a limited staff but, most of our staff have been with the company for over ten years. Mr. [redacted] was told correctly that I am the only individual that performs the analysis. If he had replied to our Data Request letter mailed to him around July of 2015, his analysis would be finalized by now. I have included a copy of the request with this response and ask that he collect the data we need and mail it to us at the address below. In the event that he is unable to acquire the data needed, we still need the additional information asked in the letter and we will make every attempt to work with what we have but, it will affect his refund if one is due. To summarize the attached letter, we must have 5 years of historical data prior to the installation of our product then the 5 years since the product was installed. Mr. [redacted] has only provided 12 months of electrical usage data. Our analytical system requires a minimum of 5 years/60 months of data to complete the analysis of the customer usage. Anything less would not be accurate nor fair to neither the customer nor SEI. Real example, we had an actual customer that submitted only one year of historical data. It was an extremely cold winter and extremely hot summer for his location. His analysis resulted in a savings of 122% because we had to extrapolate the single year usage for the entire next 60 months. This is a must and is the only method of calculating the most arcuate savings in a given home. Our policy for any customer that does not provide the required historical data is to discount any refund by 20% for each year of missing historical usage data.  Simply said, without actual data we cannot provide an accurate analysis. We will be awaiting Mr. [redacted]’s response.

Tell us why here...

Went to the dinner presentation. It was very informative and we learned some things we did not think about. Very professional and easy to understand the presentation. We made an appointment for the next day and they were here on time. Explained how it will save us and offered an affordable price and terms. We purchased, and the next day it was installed. All of the folks we came in contact with were professional and we got exactly what we were told we would, in a timely manner. Thank you and we are looking forward to saving money and energy for the rest of our lives. I would highly recommend this company. Will write another review a year form now to let you now how we saved..

Once again I have researched our email logs and we cannot identify any emails to anyone here from an email address with [redacted] or [redacted] to anyone in our company. We don’t have Mrs. [redacted]’s actual email address and it would help to locate the email. Our system catches every email regardless whom it is addressed to but without the actual senders email address it is a futile effort. Also we are open from 8am until 4pm Monday-Thursday and till lunch on Fridays and may be contacted by our phone (662) [redacted]. We have also not received any billing data from Mrs. [redacted]. We have a process we follow when we receive billing data. We first pull the original work order and build an analysis file for each customer. Then the billing data is entered into an excel worksheet for the analysis. Once we have received the data for the 60 months post installation we then order the weather data for that location and perform the analysis. We have verified that we have not received any billing data from Mrs. [redacted] nor have we created her an analysis file. If she will please mail the billing data to [redacted].   As for the way the material is installed into the home, SEI follows the manufacture’s recommendation for each style of home and attic layout. 70% of the homes we install have batt insulation and we roll out our product over the ceiling joist and overlap 10-20%. Some are tacked lightly but as little as possible to allow the material to vent to help reduce moisture/condensation. The product is cut, trimmed around knee walls, jack rafters, joist etc. to allow the product to conform to the floor of the attic and over blown insulation. Regardless, once the product is unrolled into a home we will not attempt to reroll or fold the material to recover it. Every customer deserves and pays for new uncut, unstapled etc. product therefore there is no removing the product for reuse. We will not accept the ½ offer from Mrs. [redacted] #1 because we have no “if for some reason you decide you do not like the product we will refund…” #2 Mrs. [redacted] is saying she is not saving. Our experience is that the customer does not have any idea as to the fluctuation in weather from year to year or the cost of energy. The weather or cost of energy can mask any savings that the home has actually realized. Our energy saving pledge is the only way Mrs. [redacted] can recover any of the product cost. This will only be done at the end of 60 months and only when SEI is provided the utility bills (Gas & Electric) for this home. Some customers will only save partially and other save more than the cost of the product. EVERY analysis we have performed to date has years were the customer saves very little and other years where they save a lot. Only when weather is applied can the actual savings be determined. This is the reason we will not attempt to estimate what future savings might be and refund based on unknown variables. Again, I request Mrs. [redacted] to mail or email us her billing information so we can start her analysis file until the end of 60 months.   [redacted] Tell us why here...
