This was my response directly to Mr. [redacted] of Scioto Lawn and Landscape after he made this accusation the first time. ***, Your directions were followed as you gave them to me except that I did not edge as often as I would have liked. You told us to keep them watered and gave us directions on how to water them and we followed that all the rest of summer and Fall until winter came. When Spring came we didn't have t water much because we had a lot of rain and even when it didn't rain the clay had lots of water in it every time we checked . However, even though we had a lot of rain and we kept up on weeding and edging through July the plants did not return. So if I followed your directions up through July and nothing came back, that is not because we did not follow your directions. I sprayed the flower beds repeatedly to keep most of the Bermuda grass out. If you would like to see the receipts for the three gallons of roundup I purchased I can provide them. I know the edging could have been done more often but as I told you when I hired you to do the work, I needed something that was relatively low maintenance because both of us work. I edged those flower beds once a month from May when Spring finally cam through July. The weeds you saw were the result of the two month hiatus from edging and spraying because my wife went back to work (she teaches school). With my wife spraying and weeding and me spraying and edging we have maintained it to where it is. I also purchased mulch in May from *** [redacted] (a scoop and a half). I also have the receipt for that. So we have kept up on it except the last two months. I was appreciative of the work you did initially it looked really good and my wife and I were both proud of it but when we expressed concerns at the beginning of Spring about the fact that our plants had not survived we feel that you repeatedly gave us one excuse after another as to why you could not come and kept putting me off until I went to the person that had referred you to me and made a report to the RevDex.com. I have an immense amount of work that needs done as far as landscaping and even installing a patio but because I feel you have not been completely honest with me and because you are readily willing to dismiss our efforts to maintain what we have I will no longer consider you for those future projects You see In the last ten years I have hired over twenty contractors to do work for me. I hired people to build my house, dig my basement, roof my house, put gutters on my house, excavate, rebuild retaining walls, build a deck, build bookshelves and the list goes on. Out of all of those contractors less than half of them have lived up to what they said they would do. Now, unfortunately, you are among the list of people that I would not hire again. I take pride in being honest with people, treating them fairly, and I will give everyone a chance but to get repeat business from me I expect the same treatment in return. I do not feel that you have done that. [redacted] and [redacted] *** Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Regards, [redacted] ***

Mr*** *** of Scioto Lawn and Landscape guaranteed all of the plants that he plantedWhen I arrived at my home he had only replaced about six of the twenty to thirty plant that we purchased from himHe then
accused me of not taking care of the work he done to begin withInstead of taking responsibility for his dead plants he wanted to to accuse me of wrong doing which is completely inappropriateThe email exchange is belowMr***, If you will recall, I explained in Mat and June and July that all of the plants that I purchased from you had died or had dead parts in themThe only plants that survived were the plants that we already had that you re-plantedThese are all plants that you gave us a one year guarantee on.
I also told you in both June and July that we did not need any trimming or edging or mulch because we had taken care of those things We are simply wanting you to honor your guarantee on thee plants.
Quite frankly we are more than a little frustrated that we called you at the beginning of the season and now that the season is over you are just now getting to usAs long as you are willing to honor your guarantee to replace all of these plants we will be happy than that

We replaced the tree and added the new tree as well and replaced a few of the perennials you had said did not come backIm not sure what happened to all the rest but there is no doubt that directions have not been followed properly as all my summer landscapes look great we did last year
I will not be sending you a bill for the other treeKeep it and that will allow you to replace some of the other plants that looked bad if needed***, Your directions were followed as you gave them to me except that I did not edge as often as I would have likedYou told us to keep them watered and gave us directions on how to water them and we followed that all the rest of summer and Fall until winter cameWhen Spring came we didn't have t water much because we had a lot of rain and even when it didn't rain the clay had lots of water in it every time we checked .

First of all as unfortunate as it is, this customer disregarded every instruction givenDid not water plant material the way shown and instructions were given, allowed weeds to take back over and sprayed systemic control too close to bushes and shrubs, had the dogs pee all over the evergreens causing undesireable brown patches and partial death, had the dogs digging throughout the landscape beds and then once he found out we were coming, quickly weeded grass and weeds from beds and were thrown out in the lawn
I honestly worried when we first came to look at the condidtion of the landscape that they would not follow throughIt looked as if almost the property had not been maintaiced for yearsI have worked with him, replaced a tree, and even gave him an additional new tree at no cost to be kind but every once in a while you have to stick to the program that was to be followed
If the reuslt of plant weakness and death were not complete and total negelct, I would be happy to do more for him, again
After over landscape jobs complete, I have never said that I would not do anymore for a customerThis time I did and willl not do work for them ever again
Sincerly,

[redacted],          Your directions were followed  as you gave them to me except that I did not edge as often  as I would have liked.
