I purchased an [redacted] Scooter (50CC)trike from this establishment in December of 2012. I financed the scooter from him and made each monthly payment on time and paying in full by Jue of 2013.It was a used scooter but only had 247 miles on it. I started having drivability issues during that summer of 2013 and took the scooter to him for diagnosis and repair. I was told the scooter needed a rear end assembly and the part would have to be ordered. He informed me that the part would be about $225 plus installation of about $200. A deposit was required and on August 14, 2013 the deposit of $225 was paid, and he said that the part had to be ordered and it should arrive in about a month.Three months went by and no word from him. He also has not sent me any statement/title of finance release that the scooter was paid in full. When I contacted him, he said that the part had been ordered but was held up due to shipping issues which there was something going on in the country itself that delayed shipping so I didn't question the matter taking 3 months. Christmas time came and I visited him again (he never called to say anything about this hold up.) He told me that he was working on Christmas items and that he would have me finished after the first of the year as though my scooter did not deserve to be completed/repaired. He implied that when I got my scooter back it would be in tip top shape and that it would not cost me any extra.Again I visited him and told him, I needed the scooter back by 1 Mar 2014, and he agreed. He called 2/28/2014, scooter is ready - have tested it and its running real good.1 Mar 2014 - Scooter returned filthy, greasy and has to be cleaned before regular use. Other items are damaged, speed is reduced and he charged me the $200 I expected with an additional $296 that I was never advised in the estimate. This amount includes an $80 shipping and handling charge which is outrageous for 6 month holding time and could have purchased for $300 @ $38 shipping for overnight delivery..Desired SettlementI don't think that the customer should have to pay shipping charges for a part. If he had told me the part was $350 from the beginning, I would have paid the $350. I think he has trumped up charges to his benefit and not caring of his customer. I still have not received a statement of debt paid claiming I have to go back when his notary is available.Refund s/h costsRefund labor/discount 50-75%Show proof of part purchase and shipping This Service is rip-off; very dissatisfiedBusiness Response When Mr.[redacted] came to pick his scooter up he paid another 120.00 down on his repair and was under the assumption he could ride out financing the remaining balance. Scooterstation LLC does not finance labor. All repairs must be paid in full before a unit leaves the building. He was ok with the balance owed after the 120.00 was paid of 296.00, if he could ride on the balance. When our policy was made clear that we had to have full payment, I believe this is when he made a issue of our work performed. The scooter Mr.[redacted] was sold was used and as is. The scooter is a one of a kind model sold by [redacted] Atv's in [redacted] and manufactured in [redacted]. The part damaged due to lack of greasing under the normal maintenance was the whole rear end drive assembly. Weighing in at about 50.lbs and is about three feet in length, eighty dollars is about the average shipping to mail such a heavy item across county. The reason for the delay is a back order status from the manufacture. When it came available and was processed from [redacted] I was able to receive it. No other company sells this product but its dealers and manufacture. If it was available at any other source it would of been purchased long ago. For his inconvenience I told Mr.[redacted] we would GIVE him another battery, and service his scooter. We also fixed his brakes as well. All these extras were on the work order with a no charge listed. Not to mention the bike was fully waxed and polished before he left with it. I also give Mr. [redacted] a tube of grease from my personal collection to help him maintain his new assembly, Also stated on the work order is a 12.00 bulb he left the premises with, with out paying for the last time we were in communication about this repair. I pulled my file and discovered the letter my office manager mailed Mr.[redacted] with the original Bill of Sale enclosed that was returned to sender from the post office from the wrong address given at time of sale. I charged Mr. [redacted] no interest when I financed his scooter. I saved this copy for my records as well. The labor billed was 175.00 not 200.00 My business specializes in exported and foreign made mopeds and scooters that all charge shipping on parts. We are charged shipping so we bill for shipping. We even have shipping minimums with most of them, even low order fees, all of these most consumers do not understand in the scooter community. As far as the loss of speed he speaks of, We did nothing to the engine, only the drive train. With a few thousand more miles on a 50cc engine with a trike conversion after engine break in a small loss of speed is expected and normal. If Mr.[redacted] wishes to further enjoy his [redacted] made three wheeled moped, maintenance is key and all labor will have to be paid in full before it leaves this shop as well as the rest of the powersports industry's leading suppliers do so. Final Consumer Response I still feel as though the service received by this company was unacceptable. When you give an estimate, you should advise your customer of issues that will cause dissatisfaction. Why would you keep someone's item for repair for more than six months without any notice. You would not have contacted us had we not contacted you. Unsatisfactory. If the shipping was $80 why did you not mention this in the beginning. UnsatisfactoryWhy would you pay $80 to ship something without notifying the customer. I asked for a copy of the airbill???UnsatisfactoryCustomer Service is what makes a business, and this customer is not satisfied. I am planning to consult an attorney about this matter. Just so you know, Mr. [redacted] paid the amount that was due because you had the bike long enough. He had no idea that he would be faced with an additional $400 bill, you don't know how much money he had in his pocket; he did not want to argue with you after six months. He consulted with his fiancee about this matter; we agreed to pay you to get the scooter back. The bike should be like new now. ???We will not argue about the cleanliness of the scooter. UnsatisfactoryYou will not be referred by us for any future matters. As far as the bill of sale being returned for an improper address; why didn't you call; we would have picked it up.the scooter was paid for in June; July??? You are just mailing it outUnsatisfactory -
