Scott Gambrel Construction Reviews (1)

Review: He will give you false information like he knows what he is doing about building a house. He will get people to work under him to do electrical and come to find out the electrical isn't done right after they receive the money. He will get so far in the project and take your money and quit. We are to point that no one will come and finish what he started because no one knows what he had in mind by what he was doing. He got payed over 35000.00 from us to build us a house and now we are paying someone else to fix it.Desired Settlement: I would like to have some of the refund back to help pay for what damage he has done. We have a brand new home that has been under construction for almost a year and still have a lot or problems. With a new house you shouldn't have to do work one a house that hasn't never been lived in.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com, Enclosed please find a copy of the labor contract and the release from [redacted] and [redacted] to Scott Gambrel Construction. The [redacted] are angry and eccentric people who hired Scott Gambrel Construction to build a house. They were to pay for all the supplies and materials and he was to perform labor pursuant to the contract. Mr. Gambrel's company performed the contract up through May of 2013. At that time, Mr. Gambrel was unable to continue because the [redacted] locked him out. When the first phase of construction began the foundation and the initial framing went well. When another contractor had problems with getting the septic system approved, relations with the [redacted] went bad for everybody else on the job. Finally, the [redacted] told Gambrel they were not going to pay him or the electrical contractor any more money. They stayed on the job and tried to finish it anyway. In May Gambrel and his workers were dead bolted out of the job and directed to leave. Prior to that the plumbing was inspected and approved, the wiring was inspected and approved, the heating and air was inspected and approved as installed, the sheet rock was in and we had began putting the flooring in. At this time, the Youngs' decided that they didn't want linoleum as per the contract, but wanted ceramic tile. Gambrel gave them the prices of what it would cost to lay the ceramic tile and they did not agree to it. They tried to get [redacted] to come out and do it, [redacted] gave them a three month wait. Several other people, they said, were too high. They finally hired a man named [redacted] to install the tile. He began on it about May 12th and the hardwood which he was installing was bought from the salvage place and there were about 4 boxes left. At this point, Mr. [redacted] decided that we were to use the hardwood pieces we had culled and he was going to return 2 boxes for credit. Gambrel explained to him that we didn't have enough to cover. He didn't understand or agree. The next morning the doors were dead bolted and they presented the release which I enclosed. As far as Gambrel knows, the only thing remaining to finish on the house is the extra electrical work and the [redacted] have barred the licensed, bonded electrician who was working on the job from going on it. So I don't know how they expect to get it finished. The [redacted] received fair value and hard work from us despite being very difficult to work for. We would be happy to try to arbitrate any disputes which they feel that they have. [redacted] who responded to you through this counsel yesterday was willing to go back and finish the job until they made a complaint against him. It is unfounded. However, they receivod value for everything they paid us and gave us a full release when they locked us out of the job. Very Truly Yours, [redacted]Attorney for Scott Gambrel Construction Company

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There's still issues with the electrical in the house and some information he provided was false, like the plumbing wasn't passed until the septic issue was fixed that the guy he had contracted it out too. Which had messed our only place we had on the property that perked for the septic tank and Scott had a drawing and papers from the health dept. giving her specific directions on what need to be done. So we started having trouble with Scott after he didn't want to take responbility for the guy he had gotten for the septic tank job and he didn't think he had to check and see if the guy was when certified to put in septic tanks which he wasn't. We never told him he wasn't going to get paid but he got paid when he finished a job as it is on the contract. Regards,[redacted] And [redacted]
