Scott Ostler DDS, MDS Reviews (1)

Review: Recently (earlier this year) I received a bill for $25 for services performed three years ago for my daughters invisaline braces. I did not expect a bill 3 years after the service was provided. The Doctors office led me to believe there would be no additional charges after the paymnents were made 3 years ago.I visited the Doctors office and called them asking for an explanation. The Doctors office sent me three pages of printout of charges and payments from insurance. I do not understand what this means and asked for an explanation. I would like a simple EOB that shows the charge, how much primary insurance covered and how much secondary insurance covered. I cannot find the EOB from the insurance company that substantiates this $25 bill. Now the Doctors office is charging exorbitant interest in just a few months that has doubled the amount being charged to me.I would just like someone to explain to me why there is a charge after 3 years in terms I can understand. If there is a bill I owe I am happy to pay but I need to understand why I getting billed 3 years later.Desired Settlement: I am happy to pay the bill if it is a valid charge but I do not believe the interest charges are valid. I would like to see an EOB from insurance that substantiates the charges.

Response:

I am sorry to hear that Mr. [redacted] Is upset over this bill. He did contact our office and we did send him a printout of his account showing all payments made on his account. His daughter's treatment fee was $2600.00, all of which was paid by insurance. The patient's primary insurance has a $50,00 a year dental deductible. When Mr. [redacted] received our printout he did not understand the bill and came into our office at which time we gave him a copy of his EOB and explained that every year his insurance has a deductible that he is responsible for. As you can see from the EOB that we have provided you on the first date of service it was deducted from the benefit We do not automatically bill our patients for any deductibles because all deductibles are combined with the patient's dentat bill, so depending how and what gets billed by whom first. We have no way of knowing if that will be owed our office.

As to the exorbitant interest that we charge, it is $5+00 a month, which our office feels is a very reasonable fee for late charges* We have been in contact with this patient since February and since the initial visit tp our Office wtf^aven&rheard from him until we received this letter.

The patient Is also welcome to contact his insurance company directly to receive another copy of all the EOBS from them to verify that they did have a dental deductible.
