This is [redacted] Stueber and I
rgb(255, 255, 255);">just received a letter in the mail concerning a porch stoop I did for a Customer. First of all let me start by saying "Creative Masonry" is NOT an actual business, nor has that ever been implied that it is an actual business. I do "handy man" projects for cash and advertise as such on Craigslist. Mrs. [redacted] knew this to be fact when she first read my craigslist add and decided to call me anyways. The only reason Creative Masonry is showing up is because I had 200 generic business cards made up that stated Creative Masonry on them. A few customers had great appraisal for me and my work and reported a review to Angieslist under the heading Creative Masonry. Ever sincethen I have been getting calls, letters and emails in regards to Creative Masonry and it doesn't exist. I am a full time employee at a mason company, and Creative Masonry has no insurance, federal ID number, or LLC or accreditation or Incorporation. It doesn't exist. I make this clear in my add and I make this clear to anyone potentially hiring me. This is a side job, night times and weekend thing only, and Mrs. [redacted] was made clear about this before any work was done. She told me she had gotten two other bids from "actual masonry companies" and that my price was considerably lower than both of the others so she was choosing to go with me. I made a contract that we both signed.  I was to be paid half up front and the remaining half upon completion. When I was completed and contacted her, she withheld the remaining payment because of a bunch of little knit-picky things. So I worked with her and twice went back and "fixed" things she hadconcerns with. Then I agreed to take some money off what she still owed me since she  wasn't completely satisfied. She then said she wanted another twenty four hours to think on it and to see if any more "problems arose. So twenty four hours later she was satisfied and then paid me the remaining money-less my discount and SIGNED OFF ON THE CONTRACT!. Done deal. I did everything I said I would do in stated contract, she paid me in full and signed off on it. That's it.
Thank you,
[redacted]

This letter is my final response to the matter involving [redacted]. I performed all the duties that were listed in the agreed upon contract. Also, I was to be paid in full as soon as the job was completed. [redacted] had some concerns with some details in my work, she wanted me to touch up a few things before she would pay me and sign off on the contract. I agreed, and proceeded to return on 3 separate occasions to remedy her concerns. After that 3rd time returning and doing touch up work again, I offered her a discount of $500 off our original agreed upon price. She asked for a day to think about it, and finally called me back well over 48 hours later. She then agreed to the $500 discount, paid me in full less the $500 and we both signed off on the contract! That's my final response.
Thank you

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The complaint submitted is not in regards to whether or not
[redacted] runs Creative Masonry as an actual business.  The complaint is in regards to the poor work
completed, lack of professional quality work, and primarily, the blatant
disregard for state codes and construction standards.  The craigslist ad has been removed, but did
advertise [redacted] as being a profession mason, not just a handy man.  I did not hire [redacted] as a “handy man” to
complete this project, nor was it ever implied he was completing this job as a
“handy man”.  I hired him as a
professional mason with years of experience who was doing jobs on the side of
his regular full time work.  This is how [redacted]
presented it to me.  [redacted] even directed
me to his Angieslist page where he is listed as a “honest, professional mason
with 15 years experience”-which he himself added to the page, not customers
writing reviews, and stated how he was the best rated mason on Angieslist.  He told me that he had “hundreds of jobs
completed in the area as well as references”.
I was aware he was doing this job on the side, but was also lead to
believe he was a professional, as stated, and assured he knew what he was
doing.  He made statements regarding the
state code and assured us our stoop would comply.  It does not.
Upon reviewing the stoop, [redacted] admitted it was not right and “lost
sleep” over the mistake.  He admitted it
was a mistake.  While he offered to lower
the cost and fix the unfinished and unprofessional look of it, the complaint
still stands that the stoop is not up to code.
As an honest professional with 15 years experience as a mason, he should
not only know the codes and standards in the first place, but also be willing
to accept this mistake and make it right.
Filling in holes and grinding poorly done cement does not bring the
stoop up to code.  While the contract was
signed and payment made, the fact that the stoop is not up to code was
discovered after this and needs to be remedied.
That is the issue at hand.  This
is not a complaint about aesthetics and whether or not we like the stoop, it is
about safety and standards.
Regards,
[redacted]
