I purchased a new Scott Contessa 730 women’s MTB June 18, 2018. I have had 4 tubes split at the valve on the rear wheel in 3-4 months of riding time as I live in Maine and had to stop riding in October due to early snow. I have only ridden on the roads and probably do not even have 20 miles on the bike as I fear the rear tire going flat. Finally, in September, 2018 when I brought the bike back to the dealer for yet another rear tube, the owner discovered that due to the inner hole on the rear rim being too large, the tube near valve stem was being forced into the too large hole and causing it to split. He told me he contacted Scott USA warranty and they refused to send another Alex rim. I also called Scott USA warranty division and they told me the same thing. He also told me that the Alex rims are made in Taiwan and they can’t get them. The shop owner did offer a replacement rim, but it appears very different,and had torn decals and scratches on it. He would have to totally rebuild the rear wheel.

I feel that Scott USA should send me a new, non-defective Alex rim as it appears on their website they are still selling bikes with these rims.

so after reviewing the case we have not gotten the customer proof of purchase to tale if she purchased the bike or not. we have asked the shop and the customer for the proof of purchase with no luck in getting that.

We will always try to offer options and if we do not have anything to offer then we will try to help source something aftermarket. we are Scott Sports and Not Alex rims there for we do spec there product on our bikes however we do not have access to all of there product for replacement options. we have giving the shop rim options as well as replacement options on a 3rd party website. The wheels are all black with a sticker decal we also do not stock stickers so we ask that the rider pull the stickers off to where they have matching black rims. I can send the replacement Rim out to the shop however we do not stock wheels so the shop would have to rebuild it.

I have called *** at a few different times however she doesn't answer and there is no option to leave a voice mail. she has called us however we have been on the phone and she has only left one message and we called back with in that hour of her leaving that message. we have tried to offer a few different options however this is our policy and its printed on the bike manual as well as online at the Scott website. we only have photos of the complete wheel so we do not know what is causing the flat as if its the rim or if the customer is ridding down a road with stickers and thorns. we would still need proof of purchase for the bike, photo of the serial number on the frameset and a photo of the complete bike just to even start the claim however we have had nothing but push back from the customer and the shop.

What will SCOTT do in the event of a guarantee case?
SCOTT will replace the defective product with a product of a quality or nature and similar level, will repair or refund the purchase price (after presentation of the proof of purchase of the product), in its sole discretion. Non-defective components are replaced at your expense. In such a case, we will contact you before replacing the non-defective part for your agreement.

we have offer similar level of parts, or even the replacement part with out a matching sticker. I personally do not feel a sticker difference is going to cause the bike to be safe to ride or not to ride.

please let me know if you have any other questions but we have tried a few different options for the customer and nothing seems to be the right answer on a bike that we do not stock since its last years model and we are not on 2019 bikes.
