Scott's Painting and Chimney Sweep Reviews (%countItem)

Scott was commissioned to apply spray foam insultation to coat the interior of our 24' X 32' barn, by my son, for $2,500.00. Scott told me it was going to be at least 1 1/2" thick. Stated to me that "the interior of the barn did not need to be heated and the spray foam would expand as the temperatures warmed up." He said, to my son, that he had a "special truck to apply the spray foam and 31 employees." Morning of application- 12/11/2019- he arrived with a pregnant woman in his personal vehicle-no truck. Stated to my son,(he was at work) by phone conversation, that the "truck has a flat tire." Applied a very thin coat of spray foam, not even a 1/4" throughout some of the barn. Many areas are bare. When my son arrived home from work and looked inside the barn a call was placed to Scott, to return and properly apply the spray foam to the agreed upon depth and to cover all surfaces. He agreed to return on 12/11/2019 @1100. He did not show up. Did not call, or text. I contacted him via phone conversation. He rescheduled for 12/20/2019. Did not show up. He blamed me, that I had the wrong date! Inaccurate. Again, he was supposed to arrive on 12/27/2019 @ 1100. Again, did not show up, text, nor call. I called him, after waiting 45 minutes. He stated that his "tanks froze up." He'd need to come another time. Have had no further contact. No repairs. And I'm out the money.

Scott is now operating as Fresh coat painting. We gave him 50% down ($875) on 8/19/2019 to do drywall repair, prime and paint ceilings, walls and trim in the kitchen, living room, hallway and dinning room along with a pocket door install. Scott was to start on 8/21/2019 but canceled that morning and he would be there that evening with his entire crew 7:30-8 pm at 9 pm Scott and his fiance show up to prep only.8/22/2019 one section of the pocket door was cut open but there was a support beam so they stopped even though we had cut a section open so he could see before he started it was not planned for apparently . He brought a cheap hollow core slab door and no hardware to install a pocket door after no further work was being done on it we decided this wasn't a good idea and asked him to not continue with the install. A small amount of drywall mud was put on the walls and only worked a couple hours then Monday comes and an entire crew was to be there by 10 am but only 1 guy was there and used our ladders and shop soap ( brand new containers) which were in the basement and were not for their use. Small amount of drywall sanding and first coat of trim paint was put on even though no trim sanding or repair was done. I sent a text with photos of all the work that was not done and he said he would be there with his best crew on Tuesday! a couple guys came and sanded and put some more mud on the walls and were gone by 1 pm leaving the house covered in drywall dust every room not just those he was working in. Wednesday Scott and another guy came and started painting and used my brand new paint tray that was in our mud room cabinet ! No primer used and the paint was smearing on the walls and not sticking due to the fact no primer was used . They stopped work and left by 1 pm claiming because it had rained there was to much moisture and could not continue painting inside (we have central air). Thursday Scott and his wife showed up after 1 pm and we fired him. We did not want anymore excuses of why the job was not being done or why what we asked for was not being done. If Scott had a crew of 30 guys as claimed and was professional our home would not be covered in drywall dust, partially sanded in need of more drywall mud and have a crap paint job slapped on some walls ( not the color requested)but not high up the walls because we hid our ladders so they could not use them and our paint tray and shop soaps. We now have to scramble to clean and paint before we move in Tomorrow .

Contract Scott to Paint my House on 5/18/2019 at that time I agreed to pay him $1944 to Paint the Siding on my home and also my shed with 2 coats. He also explained there was a 30 year warranty for the type of paint used to paint my home. Scott's team came and painted only one coat didn't prep the surfaces just painted only 1 coat. I explained that I have cameras on the property and he did only do one coat. He asked for a punch list after making several appointments to come to my home and now showed. I have sent by text and certified mail to him this punch list and still haven't gotten any of the work competed. While painting my home they damaged siding, screens and patio furniture. They have refused to fix this and yet they have been paid.

Scott quoted us $2,800 for mudding walls, $1,700 to prime and paint walls, and $3,120 to put in a drop ceiling in our basement. (totalling $7,620) We paid him half down, $3,810 on April 16, 2018, and Scott said it would take a week to complete. His worker came and mudded the basement, and then used a circular sander to sand without putting a plastic cover over funiture as promised. His workers left my house with a layer of white powder all over everything and never came back. Scott promised to come and finish, but the days he promised to come, he never showed. He does not return calls. We are fed up with his lies and deceit. We ended up painting the walls ourselves, and got no drop ceiling.

We hired Scott to removed black mold in bathroom...so to gut bathroom, tile it, put in vanity, tub enclosure, mirror, lights, toilet, floor, paint walls, add fence in back yard, add drain on patio, fan and light install in rooms, fix breezeway, paint kitchen, paint rest of house, doors, and trim, shower door, install sink in kitchen we already had, add garbage disposal, drain and pump up...yes he painted...but not second coat in kitchen as old color still shows, not satin base...washable on trim as asked for...doors missed, trim missed, we had no running water in bathroom sink, vanity doesn’t fit or isn’t glued on..or pipes even hooked up,...patches on walls not painted where mistakes made...hole to outside...not repaired..and when questioned he said he would get to it.
We paid in full over $21,000 dollars for labor and paint...and vanity, toilet, shower door, tile, shower head, garbage disposal and wall cabinet, faucet in shower. and we paid for fans, lights, and bathroom racks ourselves. . He had so many excuses as to why work wasn’t being completed. He would make one excuse after the other as I was in hospital having Cancer surgery, that he was going to finish this date...then that date...we were in Rochester 75 miles away...he in fact didn’t finish, didn’t provide material paid for or labor, the job done was either poor, or incorrect costing us labor and money to repair what was done wrong or not done at all.
The bathroom needs to be pulled apart, and corrected. The electrical and pumping also needs to be redone...The drain and fence material all not here or done.

Scott is a liar, make promises regarding the job and does not follow tru. Scott commit to a price on aluminum roof for my elderly mom, took half her money in August 2017 to start the job. First appearance was late september, put up a few sheets up on back of house. On October 4th he ask my mom for more money, she gave him a half of the balance, he said he would be back to finish job within a week.(wish I had known @ money she gave him second time). It is now November, he has been making promises to my mom to finish the job for weeks now and not showing up. I got involved October 23, he said he would finish job that week, never did. Left him message on Oct 29. He said he would be there on. Oct 30 to finish job that week, no show. I called him on Nov 1st. 10am. He said he was picking up lift for the job and be there in 45min. Did not. I send him a text about all the lies and promises. His response was the job will be done November 29. This is unacceptable, missed so many nice days, there may be snow on the roof by then. This is bad business.

Scott brought a team of staff to paint the interior of the house. I told him there was cat spray and I was willing to wash it. He said he would take care of it. I left the urine destroyer which was never used. He charged me $3000 when his written quote to me was $2500. A week later the cat spray came through the paint. He obviously did not clean or treat the areas. He said he would come back as needed but after repeated phone calls and text messages he has not attended to anything. On top of it he painted the wood work but obviously put latex paint over oil based and it is now peeling in several areas. I had a *** rep come over and they agreed it was lack of cleaning and sealing by Scott.

I have used Scott's painting and Chimney sweep for almost 8 years. He goes above and beyond expectations and does way more than advertised. He can do anything you need to be done on a home or rental. I have rentals and have used him to redo every one after tenants leave and get it back to perfect. Also have had him work in my home and my family's homes. He's a great business man and very fair. I searched around and did research before hiring and will never go to anyone else. Thank you.
