After living in Apt. #[redacted] for a few weeks, we discovered as the office claims a "stain" under the sink. To me, it looked to be mold/mildew growth. The bathroom toilet also leaked from the post when flushed. No problem, we alerted the office and they sent a maintenance crew member out the very next morning. They decided to replace the toilet free of charge and decided that the "stain" was in fact a stain and they decided to replace the faucet free of charge. The stain in question was a 1inch black ring around the sink bottom on the particle board counter top. It resembles images I found on google which were mold growth. We went back and forth about how to handle it. They decided to spray paint the stain and in the process, they dusted all of our personal utensils, cookware and also the stuff that they provided us with over spray. They completely dusted our stuff. They did replace all of it including our personal stuff but thats not the point. Paint over spray could have caused serious problems had we not caught it before using it.

The showed little concern for our health by

1. Not having a professional check out the area in question to determine mold/mildew growth.

2. Carelessly spray painting in our home without allowing proper ventilation to the area painted.

3. Dusting our stuff with toxic products. Our kitchen now smells like [redacted] when the cabinets are opened. This event was the precursor to what happened next. We exchanged emails and words expressing our concerns with the service provided.

I had just moved to Arizona from California and had went to the MVD to switch my Drivers License over. Me and my Girlfriend had applied at the same time. We were told 1-2 weeks until we received our new licenses. My girlfriend got hers about a week later and no sign of mine. The day applied was the 18th of July 2015. Today the 4th of August, curiosity got the best of me so I called the MVD to see what was happening with mine. They informed me that it had been sent back to them. The Post Office delivers the mail to the office here and then the employees disperse the mail into files. Somehow, my License was sent back to them. I have been at the apartment and on the lease since 26th-27th of June 2015. How is it that the office had not given me my mail and returned it to the MVD. The Post Office and MVD assured me the address were correct and the Post Office had assured me that there was no reason it shouldn't have been delivered. Francesca H[redacted] (Manager of Scottsdale Park Suites) had no idea what had happened to it and asked how I knew what was going on. I told her I had contacted the agencies and confirmed its location. Its kind of odd to me based on the previous events that my girlfriend had received hers and mine had been sent back. I believe they did this on purpose to spite me for complaining about the issues with the apartment.

In addition to the complaints above I would like to let people know what else is wrong with the apartment we are in. The cabinets are in poor shape with beat up wood, cabinet doors are off alignment and rub, the cabinets in the sink area in the bathroom have warped from a previous leak and they just painted over the wood thats falling apart. Being so close to the college, they must get students from time to time and they offer the worst wifi I have ever seen. The ability to do homework and work from home would be seriously hindered by this. Some of the furniture they provide is decent while some of it looks like it was free behind a store next to a dumpster. Even when they replaced our utensils and cookware, it took them three visits to get everything back to us the way it was. When I asked to speak with upper management on the two occasions I requested, once I was told they are out of the country and the next time I was given a basic email address with no names or other means of contact that goes to the upper management and is forwarded past Francesca herself. I'm not her biggest fan and vice versa. Also, the kets for the apartments are hotel style cards, which fail miserably, I have had to receive new cards at least three times in my stay since the end of June. The management here is absent and the performance is poor at best. The service here was much better before we complained and now its just utterly terrible. I feel as though they try to trap people, take there money and then turn there backs when problems arise. They did offer solutions to the mold.

1. Move apartments, which we declined because we have already moved twice and will be again soon when we close escrow on a house here at the end of August.

2. Send a professional inspector out to check out the stain in question, however, if its not mold, we sport the bill and if it is they agree to fix it. The liability and fees should be on the land lord not the tenants.

Other than that, Francesca assured me that mold does not grow under sinks which is untrue. She also told us that she had done everything in her power to remedy the situation and would go no further. The root of the problem is there attitude and now the spiteful nature in which they treat us. We will be happy to leave and move on from this place. I'm sure it has been good for others but definitely not for us. They also swear that they have a rigorous walk through inspection prior to move in/out. How is it that they never caught the stain before we moved in? It didn't happen over night. I also asked how come you hadn't painted it before we moved in if that was the solution. Now they claim they treated it with something to remedy the situation. If needed I can provide emails, pictures and anything else needed to back up my claim. I will not be treated like this ever again. Do not do business with people using these practices and tactics.

Review: I moved in quickly since I wanted a better work area (started working from home). Saw late on Saturday 8-16. Decided that night and packed up most of my stuff that night(11 checkout time at my hotel). With most of my stuff came in just after they opened and signed a 1 month lease. I was given a 30 day notice and did not understand since I had only signed a 1 month lease and they would not keep my rate anyway. I was just tired from getting ready and had to finish checking out, so just wanted to finish moving.I was not happy with the place so went to tell them I would be leaving at the end of my lease 9-16 on 9-2 only to discover that I was committed till 10-2. If I stayed that long, I would have to pay my current daily rate times 1.5 and that meant almost had the month paid for. Never had to deal with anything like thisDesired Settlement: Let me move out at end of lease, and not have to wait.
