If you need a plumber don't go to Scottsdale Plumbing..the people are not only incompetent, they lack basic communication skills. It took me over 4 months to complete a simple water softener fix. Not only did they misdiagnose the problem by not checking the entire system, brine tank included and twice tried to have the water soften rebuilt. It was only with the help of another plumber we were able to find the real problem and get resolution. When we asked for renumeration for the extended time and lack of completeness they gave us back an hour of time...I will never use them again and neither should you!

Review: I had contacted Scottsdale Plumbing Company to perform work on our Master Bathroom remodel. The work involved setting tub, plumbing pipes to installed valves with finished hardware. Upon contacting the decision was made to send someone to my house to evaluate the job and then provide quote to in order to proceed.

The plumber ([redacted]) came on 1/17, with another plumber. They looked at the job and quoted $1100. I told them to proceed with the job. After an hour the plumbers informed me they did not have all the necessary tools to perform the job, nor did they have all the materials. At that time they informed him they would have to charge me $180/hr while they were out gathering the tools and materials. At this time I got confused based on the initial quote they gave me. They stated the quote was based on estimated time to complete the job and the actual cost was variable. They did not disclose this to me, not had me sign any agreement at the time they disclosed the initial quote of $1100. I told them I would not pay for them to fetch materials and tools, since this would not be work being performed on the job. The decision was made for them to return the following week on Tuesday.

No one arrived on Tuesday. I called the office and they said [redacted] had me scheduled for Friday. This messed up my schedule and needed them to complete the job before Friday. The office was able to re-shuffle and the plumber returned on Thursday to complete the job. Based on this info I had called my tile contractor to schedule finishing the tub skirt on 1/24. Between this time and Monday I was out of town for business matters.

Upon returning to town I had noticed the tub valves were not symmetrical around the tub spout fixture. The cold valve was off by 1-inch relative to the hot valve. I can understand if the drilled holes were off by about 1/8” inch at the most, but “1-inch” is very noticeable and is finish work. I was very upset and could not understand how someone could drill hole being off by that much.

Two days later I had received call from the office requesting payment for the services performed. At that time I had not received any invoice detailing final costs and informed the gentleman over the phone as such. At that time I also informed him of the issue with the symmetry of the hot and cold spouts relative to the middle water spout. I informed him there are only 2 remediation options as outlined below. Option 1 is timely and expensive due to tile would have to re-ordered and it will delay carpet installation, which has been scheduled in few weeks. It also relies on ability to reschedule tile contractor relative to his schedule, which is unknown at this time. Option 2 might be better for both parties involved since we are in bind with carpet installation schedule and are afraid of further damage that might occur when removing tiles and tub skirt to gain access to plumbing. This option would be less costly for both parties involved.

1) Redo the plumbing, which would require removing the tub skirt and subsequent tile and remove and replace affected tiles on the tub deck. This would require removing the tub which is currently resides in bed of cement. Then drill correct holes and redo plumbing to affected valve. The tile contractor would have to come back and redo affected areas on top of the tub deck and redo tub skirt. This would require new tile since old tile would have bonding cement and would not be able to be re-worked. All tiles and labor by tile contractor would have to be paid by Scottsdale Plumbing Company.

2) Compensate us for the mis-drilled hole and we accept the non-symmetrical aspect of the valves.

He informed me we would have to speak with management and get back to me based on the issue and options presented. Since that call I waited over a week for a reply and had to call the office to get an update. Upon answering the call the gentleman was the same one who I talked to week prior. He stated the person who handles accounts and issues would return on 2/4 and someone would get back to me today.

No one contacted me until I received phone call at 9am on 3/26/2014 demanding payment for services rendered. I got so upset due to the fact they have ignored me and screwed up our nice bathroom we spent so much money on. And then they just want to be paid and walk away. The money it will take to fix the issue is expensive and time consuming. We tried to be cordial and provide options, but they refused to hear it or communicate with me.Desired Settlement: Review the 2 options I gave them and pick one.
