Review: In March 2013 I contacted screameleons.com via phone and email in regards to the purchase of one of the male chameleons they had advertised on their website. He was described as healthy but have a defect in his tail base that did not affect his health or ability to eat, climb or mate. After several emails they assured me that this male was healthy and we agreed on a price. I paid via credit in the amounts of $150 on March 20th 2013 and then $205 on April 3rd 2013 plus shipping. The male arrived in early April and I did notice the bent spine at the base of the tail was a bit more than the photos they sent to me earlier had shown, but again screameleons assured me when I contacted them that this animal was healthy and this would never become a problem.I have kept reptiles, especially hard to care for kinds such as chameleons and grandis day geckos, ([redacted] gecko) for many years and am quite familiar with their special husbandry needs. Food, lighting, nutrition etc. So I already had an setup habitat for this male when he arrived, with all he needed to thrive.Unfortunately as the male grew his spine deformity became worse. It was slight at first but by around Oct 2013 he had begun to fall and had difficulty climbing, then feeding on his own. I purchased a much smaller cage and began to help him to feed and hydrate daily so he would not become sick.I spoke to another national breeder around this time that knows [redacted]. They told me that this animal should NEVER have been sold with this spinal deformity and that screameleons.com was getting a reputation for selling defective animals over the internet. He even suggested that the animal should have been "given away at no charge or put down" I contact screameleons after this conversation to ask what they could do to remedy this situation. I told them I have all the photos and emails that clearly show they sold this animal with an existing defect and stated that it had "no health issues"They refuse to take responsibility for selling defective productDesired Settlement: Since I have told screameleons.com of the problem they have tried to blame it on me saying I had not cared for the animal thus creating the deformity even though they sold the animal WITH the deformity and also approved the habitat. I have clear photos of when I first received the animal showing a warped spine. I also have taken current photos that clearly show that the animals limbs are straight and his tongue works fine. I now would like a full refund since they refuse to take responsibility.
