Inever contracted their services and they did the work without my authorization. They are now expecting to pay for services I never confimred. contacted Screen Medics through your website to replace the screens on my porch. They came out and then emailed me what I felt was an extremely high estimate. I responded by email saying the estimate was much higher than expected, I was getting another estimate, and would let them know my decision. I never communicated with them again. and certainly never confirmed any type of work, verbally or in writing. I came home from work on 6/15 to find the Screen Medics workers 75% done with replacing my screens. I immediately checked my email to make sure that my communication had been clear and then called Screen Medics. Since no one picked up I left a message saying I had never scheduled the work. I then asked the workers if they could contact [redacted], the sales person I had dealt with. The worker called him and [redacted] admitted that I had never confirmed the installations. When I first contacted Screen Medics they said they had an opening on the 15th, which I never confirmed. [redacted] evidently put me on the schedule and never took me off. The original quote was for $980 and he then asked if I would pay the costs for materials. I said I would consider it. He sent me a quote for $430 for labor and materials. When I asked him why the initial quote was for almost $1000 he said here were other costs, travel, etc. I researched the cost of screens for a porch my size and said I would pay $100 even though I never requested the work to be done. [redacted] is now saying he is taking me to court. Desired SettlementI don not feel I owe them anything since they did the work without any type of confirmation or contract. I am willing to pay $100 for the cost of the screens, which is completely voluntary. The practices of this company need to be exposed and their threats for payment ceased. Thank you Business Response We spoke to this client on several occasions about re screening her porch. We went out twice to give estimates and met with her regarding her needs. She also contacted a National Website to request a quote which we received. The porch screens had been shredded by cats and she wanted them replaced. Screen Medics admittedly made a mistake on the scheduling and she is correct about not authorizing the work. However, when she did get home and caught the error, she and I spoke. I told her I was sorry for the scheduling mistake and asked her if she would consider paying our costs for doing the screen work and she said she would. She allowed the crew to stay and finish the porch work. I submitted the costs to her the next day and she decided that she did not have to pay for the work. She admitted that she had a lower quote from another company for over 1/2 of the quote we gave her. That amount is still higher than the cost of the job that we tried to work with her on and she refused to pay it. Unfortunately, NC laws say different and Screen Medics intends to pursue compensation. She also brought up the cost -vs- quote difference. She refuses to take into account that the costs we calculated were hard costs for material and labor only. It does not take into account the cost of advertising, office overhead, shop rental, office staff, fuel, tools, training and everything that comes with running a business. This was an honest scheduling mistake on a job she was going to pay someone to complete and allowed the crew to complete. We feel she's trying to take advantage at this point.Screen Medics is a Veteran Owned business with a very good reputation. Even this client was happy with the work that was completed. We aim to do the best job for our clients at a fair price. Other companies may beat us on price at times, but this is not uncommon in any business and you also get what you pay for in many cases. We are very sorry that this customer is upset but we feel that she is being unreasonable and immoral with this situation.Consumer Response There are several inaccuracies in Screen Medics Response: I met with [redacted] from Screen Medics once at my house, not twice, after which he sent me the estimate for $980. I immediately emailed him to say the estimate was way higher than I expected, I was getting another estimate, and would let him know my decision. I never communicated with Screen Medics again. When I arrived home at 4:00 on 6/25 the work was 75% completed. The screens were up and only the trim needed to be replaced. I did not ask for the work to be completed but the workers said they would not leave the job undone. I did not have a discussion with [redacted] about completion of the job. It was completed voluntarily. The workers also told me this was not the first time this had happened. When I spoke to [redacted] by phone on the 25th he asked if I would pay the cost of the materials (he did not mention labor). I said "I would consider it". He later said his costs were $430 for materials and labor I asked why was my original quote for over twice that amount. He then said there were many other costs included. To me, the quote was excessive, especially based on another quote I had received for $550. After getting the second estimate I had decided to postpone having the work done for several reasons - cost, to make sure my cats had stopped climbing the screens, and to research pet resistant screens. I did not intend to have the screens replaced this year. Although the screens are fine the nail holes were not covered well and I will need to do that myself. The bottom line is that this was a scheduling mistake, admitted by Screen Medics. There was no contract, verbal or written, and my communication was very clear that I would let them know if I decided to proceed with having the work done. I am very sorry this happened and offered to pay $100 for the cost of the screens, which I researched on [redacted] websites. I do not feel, however, that I should be responsible for Screen Medics mistake. Screen Medics trespassed on my property and had no reason to be at my house, in my yard, or on my porch. Some of the emails from [redacted] were also quite threatening and unprofessional. I feel that if Screen Medics truly wants to have a good reputation in the community they should admit their mistake and accept my offer of $100 payment. Thank you

Screen porch work not completed to our satisfaction. Our porch was screened on the inside and we had them re-screen on the outside. Because we moved the screen we also needed to have new lattice strips installed on the inside to cover up the old staple holes. While the work was going on they were not bad in response time to our questions/issues - not great but not bad. However once the invoices were paid (on March 30th)it's been impossible to get a response to the issues we have. A landscape light, garden figurine were broken and an azalea basically trampled. We asked for the azalea to be replaced; we got a response asking what type/color azalea we wanted and assumed there would be one left at our house. That was the beginning of April; still haven't seen the azalea. We've also sent numerous emails requesting the owner ([redacted]) to come out and look at the installation of the lattice strips. Some were installed backwards (the rough side is showing), the strips were cut in all different sizes, the staples are coming out, some of them have a terrible paint job - it just looks bad. We also had an issue with the screen in the door being blown out during a thunderstorm. Screening should not blow out during a storm. It wasn't installed correctly and we emailed him the next day requesting he meet with us regarding the door and to go over all of our issues. He replied that they were open between 9-5 and was there a time that worked best for us. We replied back no, that the earliest we could do was 6pm. That was April 10th, haven't heard from him since. Sent another email on the 24th; still no response. Besides all of this they did not clean up when they did the tear down of the screening; left a mess of nails, staples, etc., paint was dripped everywhere, and they left all the scraps of screen, lattice, etc. in the garden that surrounds the porch.Invoice numbers are:#[redacted] $239.25#[redacted] $1,675.71These were both paid in full on March 30th.Desired SettlementThere's nothing that can be done about the mess that was left BUT we want the screen & gasket replaced on the door, the crappy lattice replaced inside and outside, and a new azalea. Or a refund equivalent to all of the above. That refund should be in the amount of $508.70 - $239.35 for the outside lattice, $239.35 for the inside lattice, and $30 for a new azalea.
