ScubaPro Company Reviews (1)

Review: I have a Scubapro vest that I purchased in Edmonton Alberta Canada and used about 5 times. It became defective so I contacted the company to see if there was some product I could use to fix it. I was asked to email pictures of the vest so they could see the problem. I was instructed not to fix it and to send it in for replacement. After a costly situation and asking again for confirmation it would be replaced, I reluctantly drove one hour one way to a Scubapro retailer to have it shipped to them for replacement. After several weeks, I get an email saying they won't be replacing it and the vest is 15 years old and from Mexico. They also stated it would cost me $25 to have it shipped back when I was told it would be $15. They could have easily told me from the time they seen the pictures of the vest whether or not they would replace the vest and they told me they would. I am already out $50 in fuel just to take the vest there and now they want $25 more to have the defective vest sent back and not honor their verbal agreement to have it replaced.Desired Settlement: I would expect nothing less than what they said they would do and that is to replace the vest. If not replacing it was an issue that should have been brought forth immediately after I sent them the pictures of the defective vest. I think I should have a replacement vest sent to me at no additional cost to me as I have already incurred a $50 loss because of their mis-leading information and advice.

Response:

This is in response to [redacted]' Revdex.com complaint with SCUBAPRO. When Mr. [redacted] contacted our

company via email, I responded and during the conversation he had me believe that he recently

purchased a snorkeling vest that had a defect. Since we did not produce an orange snorkeling from

1993- 2012 and only recently started making an orange vest again in 2012, I was led to believe he had

a newer unit.

He asked how to repair it and I advised him not to do so for safety reasons. I told him that since we just

came out with this product, we would want to inspect it and most likely replace it. Upon receipt of the

product, we found that this was not from our new production but one actually manufactured in 1993,

20 years ago ... I don't believe that Mr. [redacted] was very forthcoming in regards to the age of this unit and

repeated "only used a couple time" instead of informing us that he has owned it for many years. This

original product came with a two year warranty that expired in the 1990s. It's unfortunate that Mr.

[redacted] incurred $50 in shipping charges to return the vest for evaluation. However, I find that hard to

believe since a Canadian Dealer in his home town shipped it to our SCUBAPRO Distributer in Canada and

they forwarded it to us in California for inspection. I will return the old snorkeling vest directly to Mr.

[redacted] at no expense to him.

Respectfully,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

I will gladly accept that they will return the vest at no cost to me since if they would have just looked at the pictures I would not have had to waste time and money in the first place, but their current response to me in inaccurate(see below). The original email reply to me is as follows.....

[redacted]'s email to "The Scuba Club" on June 28/2013

Hi, I have a snorkelpro vest made by scubapro. The oral

inflater has completely come unsealed from the vest as you can see in

the picture. It seems like whatever was used to seal it wasn't good

enough as it didn't slowly happen it just completely separated in one

shot. What I would like to know is what can I use to re seal it? The

oral tube has a soft rubber base and the orange material of the vest

seems to be some kind of vinyl, but I am not exactly sure if it is. Is

there some king of adhesive that will bond the rubber to the vinyl? If

so, I could put some around the rubber on the oral filler, push the

orange material against it and then inflate the vest a bit to keep a

good seal and keep the sealant from sticking to the inside until it is

dry. Please advise what you recommend to fix this issue as the vest has

only been use a few time and I would like to be able to use it again.
