The car is a 2001 [redacted] with a body kit on it, all
of the wiring, engine, transmission and major comments are from a 2001 [redacted]. The only real difference is that all of the parts are much easier
to access. Attached to my response is an email from [redacted] of [redacted] Auto
Repair which is a shop that I took the car to after finding a receipt in my car
that Seabrook left showing the part was purchased from a junk yard and
purchased for 79.50 not nearly 300 which I was charged. After looking at the car
[redacted] contacted me and told me to come to the garage. He told me the
previous shop had installed the incorrect part and also showed me the two parts
side by side, and stated that even a child could see the parts are very
different. I could see the parts were physically very different and I know
nothing about vehicle repair. He also stated that the parts numbers which detail
the cars year make and part model are stamped on the part and was not sure how
the shop would even go forward and install the incorrect part. He stated that
by moving forward and installing the incorrect electrical parts in a vehicle
could lead to permanent electrical damage and possibly a vehicle fire. He installed
the correct part while I was onsite and the total installation time was less
than an hour from start to finish. When I confronted Michael of Seabrook garage
about finding the receipt that was left in the car which showed the part was
purchased from a junk yard and that cost 79.50 and that the total labor should
have been 2 hours and most importunately that wrong part was installed. He
continued to deny any wrong doing and only agreed to refund me 95. In fact he
got upset and told me "Well this is the way we do business". I
figured it would at the very lease be apologetic for installing the wrong part
and over charging me. Please note that
in the response from Seabrook garage there was no mention of installing the
incorrect part, me finding the receipt from the junk yard nor the fact that the
actual diagnosis and installation of the part took less than two hours. I would
like a refund as well as have them reported to the Consumer Protection Agency.
This is blatant fraud and other consumers should be made aware of their
unethical tactics. Attached are copies of the receipt for the part which
Seabrook garage purchased from the junk yard, the receipt Seabrook Garage which
shows the price gouging and a letter from another mechanical detailing the
findings.

29 July 2015Dear [redacted],Seabrook Garage has been in business for 45 years without any complaints. Seabrook Garage takes great care in customer relations to avoid complaints and has a high rating with [redacted]' [redacted] Magazine. In reference to the above complaint, Customer...

brought in his vehicle to check all diagnostics.Customer stated the following problems:1.was cutting off while driving;2.taillights stayed on;3.instrument cluster was not working.Because the Customer’s vehicle is a 2016 [redacted] “Kit Car” put together by owner, and not a manufactured car, no shop manuals or wiring diagrams arc available to follow. Customer was fully informed and aware and acknowledged the work involved. He knew that it would take several labor hours to run each wire (circuit) to find the problem and to arrive at a conclusion. Customer wanted his vehicle to perform up to state standards in order to fully operate on the road. Customer agreed to time involved to diagnose a conclusion before leaving his vehicle at Seabrook Garage. Two instrument dusters were purchased. The first instrument cluster repaired all problems with the stalling while driving; and taillights. However, it was missing a circuit board for the odometer read out. This was an over site by Seabrook Garage. Customer pointed this out when he came to the Garage to inquire the status. It was understood that the Customer would return for this correction of the odometer read out. Customer departed very happy that at this point, he could drive his car without stalling and the taillights worked. Seabrook Garage then purchased the second instrument cluster to the finish the job. Customer retuned not to complete the job but to complain about the purchase of parts. Seabrook Garage cost of parts $ 165.00.Seabrook Garage charged the Customer $247.00. Customer was given a refund of $95.00 and the possession of the second instrument cluster. Seabrook Garage is now in the negative. The time to remove the instrument cluster takes little time, but to get to a conclusion took several hours processing operation of instrument head cluster of a “Kit Car” with wires throughout the inner frame. Ft was determined that the problem may be in the dash circuitry, Customer agreed to the purchase of a replacement “instrument cluster” (dash). All problems with the “Kit Car” were a result of a shorted burned circuit board of which took several hours to conclude. The Customer has little understanding of time involved to process the current of one wire and then another to conclude why vehicle cut off while driving and why the taillights were staying on. It appears that the Customer was not able to come to any conclusion on his own in solving his own Kit Car diagnostics, thus having need for professional help to diagnose die above stated problems.Seabrook Garage met Customers above requests therefore labor hours involved, are reasonable.President William B.
