Dear Revdex.com,In regards to customer complaint #[redacted], the Seacliff Village Cleaners strongly disputes this complaint. This dispute was over one year ago, so it is difficult to make a response or recall the exact details of this incident. The following statements are to the best of the owner’s and...

employees’ memory. Ms. [redacted] brought a dress for dry cleaning. It had gray stains and yellow stains. It was a gray dress, so the stains were very visible. The dress was not wearable in the condition in which it was brought to the Seacliff Village Cleaners. It was dry cleaned multiple times, and not just one time, in an attempt to clean it. The shiny metallic ornaments on the dress were silver coating on plastic. The dress was old, and some of the silver coating peeled off. There were no beads. The ornaments did not fall off of the dress and remained intact. The Seacliff Village Cleaners tried to locate the specific dress to replace it for Ms. [redacted]. It was a short gray dress. Since a year has passed, unfortunately it’s not possible to remember exactly, but the dress may have been from the clothing maker BCBG. After careful research and a look-up of the exact clothing number on the tags, it was apparent that this garment was many years old. It could not be located for replacement from the original manufacturer. In any event, the Seacliff Village Cleaners looked for the garment online and could not find a replacement. The Seacliff Village Cleaners has been in business for many years, and the employees did not scream or yell at Ms. [redacted]. Dry cleaning cannot make a garment look brand-new. The Seacliff Village Cleaners does its best to deal with these incidents and have a positive resolution for the customer. Since resolving this type of dispute is a normal part of business, common sense states that the employees would not have become upset over a routine request for refund over an allegedly damaged item. The Seacliff Village Cleaners is willing to pay her a reasonable amount for the dress, or an amount between 30-40% of the original value. $100 is too much money for the dress, and Ms. [redacted] was unwilling to accept a reasonable amount for the dress.  The Seacliff Village Cleaners does not believe she was charged $13.45, but is willing to remit that amount in addition to the reasonable value of the dress. The Seacliff Village Cleaners charged approximately $7.50 for dress cleaning at that time last year, but cannot say for certain at this time what she was charged. The Seacliff Village Cleaners is also uncertain whether she was even charged, but due to the age of the incident, cannot state for certain how much she paid. Nevertheless, if Ms. [redacted] indicates in writing that this amount is acceptable, or indicates an acceptable amount, then she will be paid for the reasonable price of the dress and the alleged $13.45.Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.Very truly yours,Seacliff Village Cleaners

Review: About a year ago I brought a dress to the Seacliff Cleaners in Huntington Beach. I gave specific instructions to the woman I handed it off to to be very carful with the bead work on the front. She made a note and I left. When I came to pick up this and 1 other dress, I paid the bill and looked at the dresses. They hid the ruined dress under the other one and never mentioned anything to me about the damage. They were going to let me take the garment and let me just figure it out for myself what they did. I asked to speak to the manager. She said I would need to speak to the owners. I said that that was fine. They weren't there so I was told to call. I called, several times and NEVER got a call back. The owners were never there, apparently. One time I called and I was told that if I wanted to speak to anyone I would need to come between 6am and 8am because that is the only time the owners were there. I have a child I need to take to school and a job so this was a bit ridiculous and beyond inconvenient for me, which I think is why they gave me this time frame. So almost a year of getting the run around, I stopped in today after a doctor appointment I had for my pregnancy. The owner was in! I was in a good mood and just wanted to finally speak to this man that has been hiding from me for a year and that, through an employee, said they would give me a $100 credit to their cleaners for ruining a $300 dress. I showed him a picture of the dress that they still had and had damaged, he went and got it and proceeded to tell me that the reason that it was ruined was because it was so dirty that he had to wash it 3x causing the damage. I said that wasn't true, it had makeup on the collar and was by no means that dirty. He called me a liar multiple times, pulled the dress away, started yelling at me saying I wouldn't listen to him and that he was done, and he stormed off. He just left after calling me, a 6 month pregnant woman in tears, a liar for not letting HIM lie to my face.Desired Settlement: The money that I paid was very minimal. But the dress they ruined was expensive. I tried to be incredibly patient and understanding. But when I went in today and was treated in a way that I can honestly say no business has Ever treated me, I don't even want them to have what I paid! It was $13.45. I still have the receipt. I would also, at least, like the $100 that I was told over the phone by an employee that I would get. Only Not in a credit! I will never go there again! They should Not treat people this way! Completely ignoring me for a year and making their poor employees give (me) customers the run around! Then when I come in, I am told the owner wasn't there again and would I like to speak to the manager. Then she came back and said the manager was in the restroom. When I said I would wait she said "Oh. Well let me see if the owner IS here." Umm ok. The entire place is sneaky and dishonest. They ruined my dress, hid from me, called me a liar & blamed me for what they did.
