I was the victim of a visa card scam. The scammer used my American express gift card to order equipment from SBM. I spoke to American Express representative who told me that the scammer had used the cards at SBM but the purchase was pending. I contacted the SBM and explained what happened. I was transferred to Terrence who checked his records and was aware of the use of the cards. Terrence promised to call me back by the next day but never did. I called and left several messages but Terrence did not respond. Terrence last name sounds like N, but I am not sure of the spelling.
Next I left a message with and then spoke to Eric from SBM, whose last name sounds like M but not sure of spelling. I explained the whole incident and told him I spoke to Terrence. The purchase from the scammer was still pending and SBM could have stopped it from going through as American Express representative said. However, SBM decided not to handle the situation. They allowed the transaction from the scammer who was using my cards to go through. Neither Terrence nor Eric called me after hearing the situation and promising to call me by the next day. They wanted to know how I knew that the cards were used at SBM and I told them that I was informed by American Express. I have not hear from either one of them since.
It is interesting that when I first called, I spoke to a woman who answered the phone. She told me to "speak to Terrence because I don't want to be involved in this." So I now believe that SBM are part of the scam. They should be investigated as part of the Forrester Research scam that has been reported to the FTC.
