Seaforth Sport Fishing Reviews (3)

Review: I went to a 3 quarter day fishing trip with San Diego Boat at Seaforth sport fishing on Saturday May 18th 2013. The boat was so crowded and I did not know someone cut my line until I found the hook and leader were gone. I went to a crew member standing on the deck, asking if he could help tie the leader and hook. He was so rude and questioned me why I went fishing with his boat if I did not know how to tie a hook. I said I am a only a beginner, then he asked why not come with somebody. After he reluctantly tied the line and leader together, he asked if I could tie the hook by myself, I said no. then He laughed at me I even did not know how to tie a hook. After he tied the hook and passed it to me, he ironically asked me if I knew how to hook the bait. Everyone at the boat laughed loudly. Later my friend told me he is the captain of that boat.Desired Settlement: A written apology from Seaforth sportfishing.

Review: COMPLAINT: In June my family and I traveled from Tucson, Arizona to San Diego for a confirmed deep see fishing trip. I paid for a 4 HOUR FISHING TRIP for 4 Adults and 4 Children at a cost of over $500.00. This was their "Big Treat." My family went with the understanding that there was no guarantee of catching fish and that travel time was involved, fishing time was limited. After paying a rental fee for rods and equipment from Seaforth, equipment my family assumed was adequate, they started there trip. The Captain took the passengers to a spot and they fished for rock fish, ALL were catching fish and HAVING A GREAT time. After a short time the Captain told all to bring in their lines that he had got a call from another Seaforth boat that they had seen a run of tuna. My husband said they "chased Tuna for over an hour." After finding the tuna the adults in our family realized they did not have the proper equipment and that other than 3 or 4 "locals" none on the passengers were able to fish. Other than the locals THE CAPTAIN brought out his equipment and began to fish. My adult son was furious and he asked the Captain "what about the others", the Captain offered him his rod and told all that he would return to the original spot before the trips end. They did return and got to fish for 15 MINUTES!!!! I called a manger when my family returned and expressed my dissatisfaction, he offered the adults in my family to go back out the next day. We were tourist with a planned trip they didn't have time. I told him I'd contact him when I got home regarding a credit. I have called [redacted], manager, emailed him, sent him letter by U.S. mail and have never gotten a response. I filed a complaint with the California Attorney General(PIU:[redacted]) and recently received a letter stating "we have been unable to elicit any response from the company which you named in your consumer complaint."Desired Settlement: 1.)I want my money back/ credit to my credit card 2.) I want future customers informed prior to paying a rental fee for gear that it may not be adequate/CONSUMER BEWARE3.) I want proof the Captain was reprimanded for leaving his "post" and fishing. On the day of trip my son asked a crew member "is it always like this" and the crew member said "I've never seen this happen before." I had 4 grandson's on board and feel THE CAPTAIN put MY FAMILY AT RISK.MOSTLY I WANT [redacted] ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Review: I am an experienced fisherman I purchased a boarding pass for their 3/4 day fishing trip aboard the vessel 'Sea Watch', I was under the impression that the skipper intended to fish the Coronado Islands off the coast of Tijuana, Mexico; their other 3/4 day vessel the 'San Diego', did fish the Coronado Islands and caught fish. I was not issued a fishing license by the landing, there were 34 other passengers, each of us paid a fare of $145.00 for a boarding pass, the boat left the dock after 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 28th, after a stop for bait the boat left Mission Bay and headed due west off the coast of San Diego on rough seas, overcast clouded skies, and cold weather, any knowledgeable fisherman is aware that tuna do not bite at all! In these conditions, because they are warm water fish that require a water temp of 74 degrees or higher to feed ( in order to digest their food). This skipper persisted into rough conditions all day long at times more than 25 miles offshore, until 5:00 p.m. Not one passenger caught a single fish!!! This absolutely unacceptable, the crew utilize state of the art technology to monitor water temperature, and sonar for locating fish... I complained to the office about the fleecing of their customers and suggested some kind of compensation for all of their customers such as a partial refund or discount voucher for another trip, I was told this is not their policy... to quote Benjamin Franklin: "Honesty is the best Policy". I described their policy as bad business. I drove all the way from Yucca, Arizona where I live, to board the boat... the cost to me, personally was too great not to file a complaint, I am asking for a full refund! I called Seaforth several times prior to the day of the trip and was told the weather would be good on the day of my trip it was a lie. The toilet on board their boat does not have soap for patrons to wash their hands, this is unsanitary and unacceptable, passengers are served foodDesired Settlement: A refund of my fishing fare, an apology. And inspection of the toilets on board their fishing boats, and mounting of fixed soap dispensers in all the toilets
