October 14, 2015 Complaint ID *** This is in response to our client’sWe have discussed this at length and feel that there is probably nothing we can do to resolve this and make our customer happy or really satisfy ourselves given the customer’s displeasure over the situationWe feel that we should just cut our losses at this time and just move onWe cannot give her back her old window covering as we do not keep themShe has a new window covering that was inspected by a representative of the manufacturer and found to be not defectiveWe also will not charge her for the remaining balance. We are disappointed that our customer is not happyWe hope that this can put a final closure to this unpleasant situationWe feel that we have done all we can at this point

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. Below are my responses
I had made it clear that I had wanted total blackout. I had been led to believe that the roller shade would be total blackout. I was NOT told that there would be light leaks, light gaps, on each side of the roller shade. A light leak, light gap, runs vertically down each side of the roller shade. This light leak, light gap, is much much worse if putting the shade all the way to the floor, for then the roller shade needs to go past the window ledge which serves to make it stick out. If the roller shade only goes to the window ledge it is closer to the wall but it still leaks light on each side plus then it further leaks light from where it meets with the window ledge as it is not a tight seal, it does not fit/close tightly to the window ledge. The roller shade is not at all like had been represented: it is a fraud in terms of being blackout. NO friend had ever told me of side panels: Mr*** first told me, and since then others have told me. So that I would now need to buy side panels for this roller shade so as to have blackout which I had been inaccurately led to believe that I would have from the roller shade!! So that I need go through ordering and installing yet another product since this product, the roller shade, is not as was represented. I would prefer having my original blinds returned to me -they are not blackout, but they are no less blackout then is the roller shade- and being refunded my money that Mr*** was paid for a total blackout roller shade. What I have is NOT a total blackout roller shade. My original blinds are not total blackouts, but neither is the misrepresented roller shade

** *** ** *** Massey’s Carpet and Drapes Response With regards to Mrs***’ complaints the fact that I didn’t tell her about the light leaksI specifically told Mrs*** regarding the light and this is why we didn’t do an inside mount and went six (6) inches past the window on either side to help with the light flaring outShe agreed. Mrs*** is claiming that I told her to buy dead panels for each side of her windowsI did not tell her thatA friend of hers did and she mentioned it to me and I said that yes that would give the room more of the black out effect that she seems to desire. At the time of the initial appointment, both Mrs*** and I went the measurements togetherShe wanted to have the blind drop to the floorShe said it would look better that wayWe drop blinds to the floor all the time, so I didn’t think this was out of the ordinary As far as my not communicating with Mrs*** regarding the time frame and the reasons behind the delays, I had many telephone conversations, even lengthy ones that even my wife, brother and sister in law are witness toI explained to her that the plant had four (4) out of their six (6) cutting tables go outPlus, two employees had quit and another employee had fallen off a ladderTo be sure, these are very unfortunate circumstances completely out of my controlI explained to Mrs*** that my contract states that I am not responsible for manufacturer delays and that I have sixty (60) days to deliver the productFor Mrs*** to say that I didn’t keep in contact with her is falseI spoke with her almost daily because she called me almost dailyShe demanded the phone number of the plant and I gave it to her I had a representative from Century Blinds go over to her home to see if the blind was indeed defective as she statesThey confirmed that the blind was fine I am sorry that Mrs*** is not happy, but I feel that she has been unreasonableShe stopped payment on my check which is illegal especially due to the fact that she received her blindAnd I fulfilled my contractI would like the balance due of $363, plus the $fee due to the stop payment

business, as it is not satisfactory and is not as the business had represented that it would be.  I am seeking to have the money paid returned to me along with my original blinds given to the installer's helper before I knew that the roller shade is not as had been represented.  My original blinds were new but were not blackout.  The business sold me the roller shade and had represented it is being blackout.  The business had failed to explain that there would be a light gap, light space, on both sides of the roller shade.  I would now need to purchase side panels in order to eliminate that light space, light gap.  This is wrong.  I didn't buy a product from this busines believing it would blackout only to then find out that it needs yet another product to blackout!   I seek to return the roller shade to the business for the return of my money paid and for the return and installation of my original blinds. Thanking you in advance,Mrs. [redacted]
