Sealcoating Plus Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/07/15) */
Sealcoating Plus serviced Ms. [redacted]'s driveway on June 18. At that time the service included crack filling and sealcoating. Ms. [redacted] was member of a neighborhood group of 7 homes that were serviced that day. Sealcoating Plus serviced a...

total of 11 driveways in the metro area that day. None of which reported any issues with the product or application.
Ms. [redacted] contacted me by phone on June 29 to inform me that there was a problem with the driveway. She seemed agitated at the time and I explained that I did not have any other complaints that day out of the 11 driveway I serviced. I made an appointment with her to come and inspect the drive that evening. In addition, I contacted the sealcoating product supplier, Upper Midwest Sealcoat. I spoke with Brandon [redacted], Sales Representative. Brandon inspected the driveway at noon that day and found no issues. Due to the thunderstorm that evening, we rescheduled for the following evening, June 30. Upon arrival I inspected the driveway with Ms. [redacted] and could not find any of the issues she described on the phone. Based on my inspection of the driveway with no application issues, I gave her Brandon's phone numbers and address to reach them directly as she felt is was a product issue. Ms. [redacted] was agitated and claiming there were wet spots that were tracking into her home and yet there was no evidence of this on the driveway or on the white concrete that meets the driveway. Her driveway is like new with no cracks and is 2-3 years old. I told her I have never seen or heard of sealcoat oozing or becoming wet again after it has dried(3-4hours on day of her drives service). Ms. [redacted] swore several times with insulting comments even though I provided immediate and professional service. She told me she was not making this up and she didn't care if none of the other 6 drives I did on her street that day had no complaints.
At that time I spoke directly with other neighbors that had also received service that same day--none reported any product failure or application issues. In fact all complimented me on how beautiful the drives looked.
When I asked Ms. [redacted] what she felt was fair and reasonable-she stated she wanted a reapply or refund her money. Since there were no issues with my service, I was not willing to meet those demands and I suggested she deal directly with the product supplier, Upper Midwest Sealcoat.
Ms. [redacted] continues to text me even though I have told her she needs to deal with Upper Midwest.
I find her to be difficult customer who has provided no proof of her claim.
Sincerely,
Dave [redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2015/07/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Mr. [redacted] called me yesterday and offered to come out before July 25, 2015, to clean my garage floor. That is not an acceptable resolution. I'd like the driveway to stop seeping tar so it stops tracking into my garage and onto my sidewalk. He claims to have never seen the photos or videos that were emailed and texted to him and that are attached to my Revdex.com complaint. This is untrue because when I sent the original set of pictures he acknowledged receipt and asked me to send them to Brandon [redacted] too. Clearly he received the pictures.
My current opinion is that Mr. [redacted] is unethical and offensive. He has not honored his guarantee. He has not spoken with my neighbors as he claims and nobody complimented him. I haven't been "agitated" but I have been frustrated. The frustration is the result of being verbally offended by him. He has called me "crazy" and has condesendingly called me "honey" and "sweethart" and said "listen lady" while talking to me. He was never interested in hearing what was happening. From the first conversation he started off by being defensive and cutting me off before I could even fully explain the problem. He has always been abrassive and rude. That is his reputation in my neighborhood. More than 1 neighbor has commented on our neighborhood website that they find him to be rude. My opinion is that he tries to bully people into just going away so he doesn't have to honor his "guarantee." I do find it very frustrating to deal with him. Even if you are wanting to agree with something he has said you can't get a word in because he talks over the customer and cuts the custmer off mid-sentence. I have gotten upset by his treatment - particularily when he called me "crazy." He repeated the insult to my mother. His claim that he spoke with my neighbors is untrue. None of the neighbors serviced indicated he reached out. It is true that he came out to my house once but he came when it was cool in the evening. I have been clear that the driveway seeps when it is hot (over 85 degrees and humid). He claimed I'm crazy and that I'm making it up so I took pictures and video. I also showed him the spots where it seeped and dried because it looks different. I have taken pictures and videos on 2 subsequent hot days. Both were sent to him and uploaded with this complaint. Last night he told me - while on speaker phone - that he would have honored the gaurantee if I hadn't filed a complaint with the Revdex.com and reported him negatively on Angie's List. After I advised him that a witness in the car with me just heard him say that he back tracked. He ended the conversation by offering to come out and clean off my sidewalk and garage floor where the tar has tracked. He agreed to look at the video and agreed to try and come out when the weather would likely reproduce the problem. I anticipate he will come to my home on Friday, July 17th. At that time, if he is willing to either fix the driveway or refund my money so I can have Jet Black fix the driveway correctly I will update the complaint. For now, I am not satisfied. If he honors his guarantee then I will update my response accordingly.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I will refund Ms. [redacted]'s money.
However, please note:
*there is not a problem with the application of the sealer which I am responsible for which my guarantee covers.
*I did return to her home Friday, July 17. At this time I did clean the crack fill product from the seam where the driveway and garage floor meet, which I felt was fair and reasonable. She did inform me that she would update this complaint only after receiving a full refund.
*when there is product failure-the customer should be dealing with the manufacturer directly and I presented the customer with this information the first time she contacted me stating her issue
*To be clear, I did not receive the video as mentioned. I did receive the original pictures which I felt didn't provide accurate verification of her complaint.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 21, 2015/07/23) */
I did receive the refund check yesterday. I am now satisified with the resolution.
