Will not issue refund for item purchase 2 days ago with cash.

I purchased a pair of shoes on 10/27/12 and paid cash for them. When I went to wear them the next day they were too big around my ankles rubbing and causing pain. I went to return these shoes and they said they were considered an accessory and they were non refundable. I told the clerk, [redacted], that I was not aware of their non refundable accessory item policy. She noted it to me on my receipt. I didn't even look at my receipt until she pointed it out to me. There was nothing posted in the store about this policy. [redacted] said she would make an exception this one time. I tried on a pair of jeans but the biggest size they had at their store were not big enough for me. I waited at the counter for at least 10 minutes while [redacted] was on the phone talking about ordering clothing and when she hung the phone up she grabbed the receipt and said she could only give me store credit! I reminded her that she said she would make an exception for me and she said sorry she could not give my money back.
