Review: Hired Sealmark Corp and their installer [redacted] to apply their coating on my house, desk, and stairs. They also installed all the trim on the house. After one month the trim was falling off, the coating on the house was cracking, peeling or bubbling and the coating on the desk and stairs was cracking and peeling. After a year of phone calls and emails, and one excuse after another Mr. [redacted] the president of Sealmark and[redacted] came out and did some test patches to the house. After more time past Sealmark claimed there was structural problems with the house and that is why their product did not work. Sealmark turned it over to his insurance company and they sent out a structural engineer to inspect the house. What he found out as well as the structural engineer I hired was that the product was put on incorrectly. Sealmark and [redacted] did not follow contract. The house was not pressure washed before the product was installed, seems were not taped,and house was not primed. When the work was being done we asked why the other steps were not done and was told it was not necessary with Sealmark product, it adheres to any surface. Now I can not get Sealmark Corp, [redacted] or the insurance company to return my calls or email. They will not fix the problems. The insurance company did offer to pay to remove the product off my house but they would not pay to put another product on or refund me the money paid to Sealmark and the installer.Desired Settlement: Would like to be paid to have the Sealmark product removed from the house and be refund the original contract price.

In the body of this document Don [redacted] will be referred to as [redacted] and [redacted] will be referred to as **.

To best describe the problems with [redacted]’s house I have included several photos that show the issues that Sealmark has been dealing with.

[redacted] is not an uninformed home owner. [redacted] is an experienced building maintenance contractor in the New Orleans area. I believe that [redacted] was the general contractor that build his own home. The home is a steel sip panel structure sold by [redacted]. Sealmark sold the wall coatings that was used on the home and the applicator was **; who is an independent contractor hired by and paid by [redacted] for the work. The Sealmark Coating IS NOT pealing from the walls, to remove the coating it has to be scraped off using a scraper with a great deal of effort.

[redacted] failed to mention in his complaint that Sealmark and ** made four different trips to his home and tried to repair the deficiencies at a combined cost of over $34,000.00. After each visit I noticed that more issues were occurring with the building. A sure tip off to me that there was a structural problem is when I noticed that the base angle was starting to bulge out.

THE BASE ANGLE SHOULD NEVER MOVE OR DEFORM; THE BASE ANGLE IS WHAT ANCHORS THE WALL PANELS TO THE CONCRETE FOUNDATION. (Picture enclosed)

As part of Sealmark’s complaint investigation, I consulted with a well-respected forensic engineer and two different experts in steel sip construction to review the project. All

three, independent of each other, came up with the same conclusion that there is a structural issue with the building and that the Sealmark product is failing in areas due to the abnormal movement of the structure. If you notice, the main issues were in the seams and joints. The notes on the pictures will describe the issues we are dealing with.

I believe [redacted] knows there is a problem with the building and if he is responsible for the construction of the building he cannot sue himself so he is looking for a fall guy or in this case fall guys (Sealmark and **) to pin the problems on. If you notice there is no mention of a general contractor involved in the construction of the home. I have also done some research on the [redacted] structures and I came across an ICC building code report (copy enclosed) that specifically states that the panels are the interlocked with the adjacent panel. The pictures clearly show that the panels are not interlocked with each other. During the day when the panels heat up, they expand and since they are not interlocked they will move independently of each other and squeeze the coating out of the seam and cause a bulge. As the walls cool down and un- expand, the bulges disappear. That is NOT a coating issue. The problems at [redacted]’s home is not caused by the Sealmark Coating or the work of **, there is a problem with the structure that is causing the coating to fail.

In conclusion, I believe [redacted] has a serious issue with his home that will require extensive work to correct the abnormal movement of the structure. Neither Sealmark nor [redacted] is responsible for [redacted]’s problem, as much as we would like to be able to solve his issues, we are just a coatings company and coatings can not cause, nor fix structural issues.
