This is incorrectAfter more than a year of wrangling with this company, being lied to, misled and frustrated, they eventually offered me approximately half what I am owedI took this money, preferring it to nothingAs far as I’m concerned, this company still owes me more that $2,Not to mention the year I have spent fighting with them
So, no, I do not consider this "case closed."
I am more than happy to provide you with any more information
Many thanks for looking at the case!

Please be advised of a few facts in regards to my compliant.
1. This company forced me to hire a surveyor who gave recommendations based on depreciation etc.
2. The value assigned to my goods was not based on replacement value but restoration. Some of my items were valued at $10k. Yet to restore the extensive damage this company wants to offer me pennies which won't even cover restoration of items that were not damaged in anyway prior to shipment because they were fairly new. Not only that all items were recorded as not being damaged prior to shipment.
3. This business avoided calls, and follow-ups for weeks prior to being threatened with action with the Revdex.com.
4. I have called the underwriting company and spoke to them directly about my issues with this company and was informed that they stopped doing business with them in June due to all of the issues and complaints. The underwriting company has assured me that they will be lodging a formal investigation of my claim as well as others that have been brought to their attention.
5. This company is trying to cheat me. I did everything right and what was asked of me yet they don't want to pay me. For that reason I rejected their insulting offer because the more I dig the more unethical I find out that they are.

Review: In October 2013 we filled insurance claims with your company for goods damaged in our overseas move. Seaport Marine was the company that our movers, SOS international, used as a broker. Almost 10 months later, and countless phone calls and emails sent, we are still waiting for the job to be finished and to be issued a check for the insured, damaged items.

.Desired Settlement: We would like the submitted claims to be processed and for this job to be completed.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

Review: In October 2013 I moved from Seattle, WA, USA to Esbjerg, Denmark and I moved my household goods with me. My move was executed by International Sea & Air Shipping and insured by Seaport Marine. Upon delivery of my household goods in early December 2013 only 59 out of 60 boxes were delivered. The missing box contained a custom built, hand built bicycle. I had 2 custom built, hand built bikes and they were insured for a total of USD 10,000. I was informed by the moving company how to proceed with the paperwork towards Seaport Marine and filed a claim for the missing bicycle. I was issued a claim number by Seaport Marine in early January 2014: #[redacted]. At this time Seaport Marine also asked for some supporting documentation, which I provided 13th January 2014. I

I then followed up with Seaport Marine 29th January but didn't hear back from them. I followed up again on 25th May but didn't hear back from them. I then contacted the moving company who contacted Sepaort Marine and made them reply. They requested another copy of one of the documents I had sent earlier (in January) as well as the bill of sale, which was provided. (This is difficult for a hand built bicycle, since the farm and parts are bought separately and then put together by a 3rd party typically a high end bicycle shop and I was able to get all of them together by 2 July and submit them to Seaport Marine). Seaport Marine requested a couple of documents on 3rd June, which I had also provided earlier. On 20th August Seaport Marine again requested a copy a the documents delivered in January and in June, and I again provided it to them. Seaport at that time also informed me that because the bicycle was hand built with parts from several suppliers it would not be possible to estimate the value of the bicycle and I should expect no more than an ex-gratis offer.Desired Settlement: I want them to process the claim and compensate me for the loss of my custom bicycle, regardless of the fact that it was hand built bye expert bike builders. It makes no sense that the true value of a custom bicycle cannot be estimated just because it is assembled by a frame and parts from several suppliers by a 3rd party bike shop. If necessary, I can have the bicycle shop that assembled the bike to write a statement about the quality, value and rarity of the bicycles from this particular bicycle builder.

Review: In June 2013, I shipped a container from Long Beach, CA, to Montevideo, Uruguay (where I now live). I purchased insurance for the shipment from this company. When the container arrived, numerous items were damaged. I immediately took photos and video of the damage and filed a claim.

The entire process was a shambles. I was first lied to and told that my coverage didn't cover damage. I informed them that it did, threatened legal action and finally they acknowledged the claim. My claim amounted to more than $4,000. I was sent an offer of $300. I was also told that I had to produce *original* receipts of everything I was claiming for. Again, I informed the company that this was not what their contract said. Again, I threatened legal action until they acquiesced. I then waited for months, until finally being offered $800. Again, I protested. After months of wrangling and threats, they offered me $2,250 -- Still thousands of dollars less than I am owed. I signed and sent a release, willing to just get this over and done with. I then waited. And waited. Upon contacting the company, I was told that they hadn't received the release. So I resent it. Then I waited. And waited. Again, I contacted the company, only to be told that they again hadn't received the release. This was four months after "settling" the claim. Again I threatened legal action and resent the release. Yesterday, I received a check for $1500 -- $750 less than the contract (release) I signed. I believe these people are con artists. They are the very definition of a crooked insurance company/broker.Desired Settlement: I want this company to honor the original claim of $4,176, plus compensation for the YEAR I have spent trying to get what's rightfully mine. I also want a full apology.

But mostly, I want people to be aware of this company and not to use them.

The balance of the clients claim was paid by underwriters to the claimant

Review: On March 17, 2014 the movers came and moved all of my household goods. They documented everything that they packed and didn’t make any mention of any defects of my goods. Then they shipped them to St. Thomas. A month after we had been in St. Thomas the goods arrived and the moving company on St. Thomas stored the items until we found a permanent residence which was about an additional 30 days. It is important to keep in mind we worked with our shipping company to maintain our insurance coverage on all of our household goods until it reached our final location and was delivered and set up.

We moved into our new home on March 28th. When the movers brought in our furniture a lot of our furniture was damaged, massacred and mangled. While the movers were unpacking our furniture I was taking pictures and contacting my moving representative and telling her how much of my stuff had been damaged. She said don’t worry that’s what the insurance was for and it would all be taken care of.

After all of the damage had been assessed I worked with my rep to figure out what to do next. I was told that I had to hire a surveyor on St. Thomas, pay them to survey my items, take pictures, and write up the reports etc. before anything could be done. I was already pissed that so much of my furniture was damaged and the fact I was expected to pay someone to survey my items on top of this was ridiculous. I worked with my shipping company who ended up paying for the surveyor’s services on my behalf. All of the information was submitted sometime in July.

I was in constant contact with the insurance company regarding the status of my claim and they kept telling me the same thing it’s with the underwriters. Finally in October after calling, emailing, and leaving messages for about 2-3 weeks with absolutely no response I reached back out to my shipping company and asked for their help.Desired Settlement: I would like them to either honor the settlement that was proposed by the surveyor or give me a full refund of the insurance policy that I paid for.
