The washer in my [redacted] Laundry Center would not stop filling and flooded my kitchenI looked on the Internet and found that the most likely problem was a Control SwitchThe online Sears Parts Specialist ordered the $(plus shipping) Switch and assured me I could replace it myself...NO Repair Technician was necessary I couldn't get the old part out, so I scheduled with Sears for a technician to come to my home to install this new part It took quite some convincing for him to believe this was the correct part, both by me and his telephone technical helpAlso, I looked on his computer and saw that the price of this part was $and not the $that I had paid online He installed the new part, and turned on the machine to "Small Load"When the water filled to just under half, he shut the machine off and told me it wasn't fixed and that this part was not the problem Then, he reached behind the drum, found a loose hose, told me something was "completely clogged", and determined that the whole drum need to be replaced to the tune of over $ He also told me that I might as well buy a new Laundry Center rather than fix this one And, he admonished me for not calling the Repair Center FIRST because he "always checks the hoses first" and he would have saved me from buying the $part He also asked me if I wanted him the remove the new part so I could get a refundSince I had already thrown out the packaging, I told him to leave in it Good thing I did! When he left, I turned on the machine one last time to make sure it was broken before going online to spend HUNDREDS of dollars, and.....it works fine!! It now stops filling up when it's supposed to...he just didn't let in get to the point of shutting off the water before he shut it off himself Now, I don't know if this technician is just incompetent or was trained to talk people into spending a ton of money when they don't have to, but I will NEVER use Sears for ANYTHING ever again!! I now have NO trust in Sears, their repairs, or their products

The washer in my [redacted] Laundry Center would not stop filling and flooded my kitchen. I looked on the Internet and found that the most likely problem was a Control Switch. The online Sears Parts Specialist ordered the $35 (plus shipping) Switch and assured me I could replace it myself...NO Repair Technician was necessary.

I couldn't get the old part out, so I scheduled with Sears for a technician to come to my home to install this new part.

It took quite some convincing for him to believe this was the correct part, both by me and his telephone technical help. Also, I looked on his computer and saw that the price of this part was $55 and not the $35 that I had paid online.

He installed the new part, and turned on the machine to "Small Load". When the water filled to just under half, he shut the machine off and told me it wasn't fixed and that this part was not the problem.

Then, he reached behind the drum, found a loose hose, told me something was "completely clogged", and determined that the whole drum need to be replaced to the tune of over $500.

He also told me that I might as well buy a new Laundry Center rather than fix this one.

And, he admonished me for not calling the Repair Center FIRST because he "always checks the hoses first" and he would have saved me from buying the $35 part.

He also asked me if I wanted him the remove the new part so I could get a refund. Since I had already thrown out the packaging, I told him to leave in it.

Good thing I did! When he left, I turned on the machine one last time to make sure it was broken before going online to spend HUNDREDS of dollars, and.....it works fine!!

It now stops filling up when it's supposed to...he just didn't let in get to the point of shutting off the water before he shut it off himself.

Now, I don't know if this technician is just incompetent or was trained to talk people into spending a ton of money when they don't have to, but I will NEVER use Sears for ANYTHING ever again!!

I now have NO trust in Sears, their repairs, or their products.
