Searsport Motor Company, Inc. Reviews (2)

We were hired to reset the camshaft timingAfter waiting for the correct tool, we completed the job after two attemptsThe vehicle was still running roughThe technician said that the timing was correct and that he recommended removing the heads to check for a bent valve which is customary
procedure and may have resulted after prolonged driving with it being out of timeAs noted on the invoice by our technician, the customer had replaced timing chains three times prior to bringing the vehicle to us*** *** was charged $labor for this procedure (see attached invoice ***)I have spoken to the customer and was willing to offer him a 50/warranty and was willing to credit the previous labor cost of $(see attached estimate 6737)He thought we should be doing this for freeI will no longer honor thisAs far as I'm concerned he is on his ownI feel I have gone over and above on this matter.Sincerely,*** ** ***, OwnerSearsport Motor Company, Inc

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below.
The first tool they ordered was the wrong one and the mechanic didn't know it was the wrong one until I told him and he got on the computer and I showed him what one he needed. The mechanic told me when I showed up that he had done it twice already and had showed me what he had done, I then proved to him that he had the camshaft locking tools reversed and he had my car running with it that way. So after having the car apart a third time twice with the camshafts wrong I received my car back. I did the work that I did I replaced the chains in july of 2014 and I have the receipt for the parts to prove it. My invoice says I told them I did it one month prior to bringing it to them and that is wrong the owners son and the mechanic both know that because I talked to them about it months prior. I took my car from Searsport motor to my house in [redacted] ( about a 20 min ride) then to work then next day (about a 40 min ride) and made it about halfway home before the motor blew. I find it very hard to believe that after I worked on the car and drove it for approx. 8-9 months with no issue was the cause of this problem. I think its much more than coincidence that after the admission of it running with the camshaft positions reversed and the fact it was only driven just over a hour after receiving it back from them that the motor blew. I had told them that the 600 I paid them should be all that they get from me and that I should get my car back fixed. This is my only car and have had to borrow a vehichle from friends and relatives to be able to get to work I have been very patient with this matter and have been dealing with this for too long now if something doesn't happen soon I will seek legal action. I was told by them that it was ok for me to leave my car on their lot but to avoid any future issues I will be having it towed off their lot.
