Review: Began renting Apr 2014. Many fees not told when I was deciding to rent- got price of basement instead of 1st floor, and omitted connection charges, pest control for ALL is on bill,, etc.

Main complaint is that I asked to be relieved of my contract last June when I had my 2nd cervical fusion, with MD [redacted]-trained neurosurgeon, who wanted my physical therapist(PT) to be a PT in MD who knows my rare condition which causes lot of pain. [redacted] said I'd have to pay break-the-lease fee if I left June 2014, 5-6K. I do not have money as I am on disability with severe neck and shoulder pain, making me unable to work.

I net $3452 per month, not even taking out enough taxes. I couldn't pay that amt and was forced to return to apt , causing problems as my drs are in MD, and require many appts.. It's a 2 hr trip 1 way. I'm in so much pain after that, I cannot make the trip back. I have cats, and have to return for their care. Unable to find catsitter who cared for them suitably.

PT in Fred-BAD-Select PT. She did neck manipulation, forbidden by neurosurgeon, causing another level of cervical spine to fracture, necessitating surgery March 3, 2015. Again, I asked [redacted], if I could leave early with doctor's note (lease ended Apr 11, 2015). I have neurosurgeon's note I gave them where he said I MUST return to DC area, to be close for care and surgery. I had noone to watch cats while in hospital so knew had to be in DC area prior to surgery. [redacted] said she'd give note to Corporate and thought I would be out of lease.

[redacted] said would take week to rent my apt. I emailed her, she and staff said they were making special efforts to rent my apt first, making it a model, and someone interested but had to get job offer secured. Then I asked again, she said didn't know, as staff were out. Obvious lie, check records. Said she'd give me 3 mo to pay bill. LIE. Sent bill over 2K to Collections when I emailed her. No discussion. LIARSDesired Settlement: Want apology from [redacted] and [redacted].

Want bill zeroed out as [redacted] didn't honor agreement. I wouldn't have left if knew would be 2k bill.

Want compensation for personal items ruined by mold/excess moisture- no room to write in PROBLEM section, but apt had excess moisture/mold. [redacted] said because apts are so green. Jose said happened in opening. Talked to tenants had same problem. Ignored. I called Co. who went to apt office & told them (I needed help & they weren't providing, Jose said would be better in 1 day with dehumid. & wasn't) DISGUSTING, all wet, shoes inside I had to wear, even putting them up as other tenant did, didn't help. Lost over 13 prs shoes and boots, some new and most from [redacted]. Lost comforter, etc. So cold in Feb had to sleep in liv rm with dryer on all nite which I told them. No care. Lost lot of cat's furniture and pillows (moldy inside, wet outside), Know they were mad I called Co as [redacted] stormed over to my door after Co there, didn't call. RETALIATION BILL

Review: The Seasons at Celebrate Virginia is unethical and has poor customer service. They overcharged me on my rent twice, didn’t clean the pool and pool deck regularly, the “gated community” gates were broken more times than not and they took away amenities that we were “sold” on such as the free printers/printing in the business center and free coffee/tea anytime. But to make matters worse, they could have messed with my credit. We moved out of the Seasons 4 months early meaning we had to break our lease due to purchasing our first home. For starters, The Seasons at Celebrate Virginia charges an immense amount for a “lease break/lease buyout fee”, ours was $2,300! We knew ahead of time we would be charged the fee but when you find the right house to buy, you have to jump on it. We were fine with paying the fee and even got an extension to pay it since we were never late on rent. However, due to the carelessness of the staff our names were sent to a debt collecting agency 7 weeks BEFORE payment was due! The debt collector not only called me and my husband but they called my mother, & mother-in-law requesting money. How humiliating, especially when unnecessary! My husband and I have NEVER been late on any bill at any time! This could have been a huge hit to our credit had we not been on top of it and connecting the apartment with the debt collector. The apartment company didn’t even know it had happened! Even after they claimed this was resolved, the debt collector said he could give me a deal to pay it off with him aka a discount on the $2,300. Between all the phone calls and emails between the debt collecting agency and The Seasons at Celebrate Virginia, I spent hours fixing this. Yet, all I kept hearing was “sorry, I don’t know how this happened” or “sorry, it was a computer glitch”. One thing I learned quickly with [redacted] (who owns The Seasons at Celebrate Virginia) is that they are full of a lot of excuses and have no accountability.Desired Settlement: When I asked what they were going to do to rectify this situation, they claimed they couldn’t do anything…if we wanted a discount on the buyout fee they could send us back to the debt collector and get the discount from him. I know this isn’t true, this is business and there is always room to negotiate especially when the business is at fault. MAAC/The Seasons at Celebrate Virginia and their staff are horrible at customer service and are ethically wrong. How would they like it if I messed with their credit?!

I want a discount on the fee like the debt collector offered.

Review: I paid to break my lease for a corporate move on 5/17/2014 and they continued to bill me for utilities for the month of June after I had returned my keys in May and paid to release me from the lease. They failed to notify me in writing if a legitimate bill and they turned me into a collections agency for a bill for a month I did not love there in June and the collections agency never contacted me but I stead reported the invalid charge to my credit dropping my score 69 points when I provided Reciepts to the company they stated they apologized but I had to contact the collectionahemcy directly instead of reporting to them they made a mistake. I contacted the collection agency with no response to date.Desired Settlement: I want them to rmove this from my credit and to issue a letter to all credit agencies explaining their error.

Review: I became a tenant of Seasons at Celebrate Virginia in September 2014. Shortly after my tenancy began, the walls began to vibrate and a loud nose occurred. This noise occurred often and disturbed my sleep. I inquired with neighbors, and they too heard the noise. I complained to the front office. The office manager and maintenance personnel came to my apartment to determine what the issue was. The maintenance personnel stated that the noise was probably due to an HVAC issue and stated that it would be very expensive to repair and further remarked "That's the price you pay for living on the first floor". Seasons refused to make the necessary repairs. I asked for compensation, and the next day there was a notice on my door stating that I was in violation of the lease. The notice stated that I had an authorized tenant, which was not the case. The notice was in violation of Virginia Code 55-248.39, "Retaliatory conduct prohibited", and attempting to ban a guest, without cause, during my tenancy, which was a violation of Virgina Code 55-248.31:01, "Barring guest or invitee of tenants". My lease ended on January 9, 2015. I paid Seasons for cleaning services and also paid Sears for carpet cleaning. Upon move-out, I was contacted by Seasons and told that I would be responsible for carpet replacement charges. I asked why and was told it was because of stains. I explained that I had the carpet cleaned and that [redacted] guaranteed their work. They stated that three stains required the replacement of the entire carpet. Since the stains are small, moderate in nature, and confined to the living room, the entire carpet did not need to be replaced. The carpet is not damaged; it has what is considered "normal wear and tear". The company opted to replace it, and billed me for the replacement, without providing the invoice of a third party installer, which is required under the law.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that Seasons at Celebrate Virginia issue a formal apology for their retaliatory actions, and cease and desist all collection activity.
