I signed up for this place in order to take a shot at acting. After being accepted, I went through their whole intro of the building and what we'd be doing and so on and so forth. I started to question why they would ask for so much money upfront when most agencies don't receive pay until the person gets a job and gets paid. there was a $500 fee to pay upfront in order to start the classes. I wasn't able to pay the whole thing so I only paid half of it and then was going to pay the other half the following week. I went to 1 audition and then I had a family emergency and a car accident (myself) and I decided this wasn't the right time for me to try this. I called to try and get a refund for the fee since I did not take any sort of classes from them or took any sort of headshots either. I called multiple times and left voicemails for their manager to contact me and got ZERO calls or emails back. If they do a legit job in getting people gigs or not that's on them, I just am frustrated that after multiple calls and then giving up and trying again they can't find it in their hearts to just return to what to them might just seem like 250 but for me, after all the issues I went through during the time I would be there I cannot afford to give up 250 bucks for something that I didn't even get the chance to try. All I am asking for is a refund of my money as it only seems fair. I'm sure with all the people they get to sign up and all the people that pay giving back 250 is no big deal. I would've preferred to have settled this through them but since it seems I cannot get through to them ( since my calls kept getting transferred to the "managers" voicemail and never returned) I had to take some sort of measure to get this resolved. I even got a parking ticket for parking in a spot they suggested and that's another chunk of money lost.
Let me address this point by point, so we can all be on the same page:
1. The fee's that are paid are for the workshop, not for representation, as it says in the brochure, as said by the Agent, and as it says on the contract that was signed.
2. That fee is non-refundable, as it states on the contract that was signed.
3. If the Client would have liked to cancel, they had a 72 hour window in which to do so, with instructions how. The person did not cancel in that time frame, nor in the correct manner outlined in the contract.
4. I am not sure who this person is leaving a voice mail for, if they are at all, as there is no one in the office with the title of "manager". I have found no one in the office who has received a voice mail from this person. If they can provide me with a name and/or extension, it would be easier to track down if any messages were actually left.
5. I understand the perspective is much different, but fair to this person and fair to the company are not the same thing. We will follow through and provide whatever services were agreed upon in the contract. If there is a part or details that I am missing other than the Client is disappointed that they can't just break a signed contract, then I would appreciate any more details that are factual and true, rather than just "feelings".
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
every time I called to leave a voicemail for Michael or the front desk answered the phone, I would not get a phone call back. Last voicemail I left I waited 2 weeks for a response to give them time from their busy schedules and still no response. Refund was not an option not was that expressed to me that I had 72 hours to cancel or this “other option” they are mentioning. To save the back and forth, a refund is all I’m asking for and this will all be left behind.
Sincerely
I wish to receive a full refund of 4,900. The contract says there is a 500$ none refundable which is fine bc all I want is my refund. They gave me a contract that says if I contact gr hem In 2 days that I want a refund I can get a refund. I want my refund as soon as possible. They havent gotten to me eventhough I emailed called and asked for a refund.
Everything has been resolved thank you
Sincerely
I did business with this company from Feb 11th March 1st . During that time I paid Seattle Talent $1975 for singer development courses and a deposit for a *** ( model and talent competition that’s held in NYC & LA) The agent insisted that I would be starting the courses immediately possibly that weekend if the weather permitted because we had experienced some snow storms earlier in the week and if not the falling weekend. That following week I called the director of education to find out when the singers development course would start, reaches out to me via email to let me know that the course’s don’t start until March and I’ll have to register two weeks before the start date in order to reserve a spot. I was confused because it had been told to me that the singers development course would begin immediately after paying for them via the agent. & Nope, so I reached back out to the DOE via email asking if they could give me a call as soon as they were available which I got an email in response saying they were traveling but could be reached when I could talk, again confusing. I wasn’t getting any auditions until I called in and was informed that my email needed to be added to the mailing list because they were confused which email to send the auditions. I put down two emails because I have more than 1 email through which you can contact me what’s confusing or not clear about that? Once that issue was solved I would get auditions that would say (no hair extensions, braids or shaved heads) mind you I’m an African American that had braids and now my hair is in a low cut. I audition for *** & paid the deposit of 1k continued to do my research on *** & couldn’t find any present articles, no *** grounded online or no trace of them on the Revdex.com website. And it was when I got another email for an audition with the stipulations (no braids, no weaves, no extensions, no shaved heads) that I concluded that I no longer wanted to work with this company.
I am going to address Ms. complaint line by line, so at the very least all parties have a proper perspective on the situation, and it will make sense why we as a company have made the decisions we have made.
Ms. stated that she did business with us on Feb 11th (it was Feb. 7th), signing up for a singer's workshop, and expected to start the workshop immediately. On the contract that she signed, it states that her first workshop (an Acting workshop she was given for free to compensate for the wait for the signing workshop) is 3/10/19 (see attached). She also acknowledged to the Studio Director who emailed her that the start of her Singing Workshop was starting on 3/24/19, to which she replied "Thank you ***, safe travels" (see attached), though she stated in her complaint that she was "confused" by that.
With regard to ***, she says she could not find *** on the Revdex.com Website (it took me a few seconds), she couldn't find articles, nor SEO (which means Search Engine Optimization so I don't really understand what she is trying to say), but *** has a website, we give out ample materials, and have years of documentation of attendance and successes, including a dedicated Facebook page, so I am guessing this was all a bit of rhetorical flourish to bolster her request for a refund.
With regard to castings that she does not qualify for, I am a bit perplexed on how to answer that for her. If a production or company asks us for talent that is a certain sex, age, build, hair color/type, that is who they want to hire. So a hair styling show did not want any models with her hair type, how that reflects upon us, I have no idea, again, unless it is all just trying to game this process in hoping for a refund.
Lastly, she was engaged with Robert K, the *** Director and CFO of the Company, asking for a refund, and when he asked why she had a change of heart, as she had signed two different contracts that had refund limitations, she disengaged from the conversation. Her contract for workshops that she signed states "The Client may cancel this contract within 72 hours after its execution by mailing a certified letter to Seattle Talent" (see attachment), and her *** contract states plainly that the one thousand dollar deposit is non-refundable.
All of that being said, our collective conversation amongst the staff that has engaged with Ms. is that rather than engage with Robert when he asked her why she had a change of heart was because she knew she had signed contracts that did not allow her to get a refund after such a long period of time, and instead went straight to the Revdex.com with a dramatic retelling of what happened as a last resort to getting her funds back. We also fully realize that her perspective on all of those conversations can be quite different from ours, thus Robert trying to engage with her to figure out what was really happening so we could either help her with her experience and/or her career. Since she has not taken any workshop, since she has not participated in any part of the *** training, not attended any auditions, we are very comfortable giving her a full refund of all funds paid toward participation with Seattle Talent and ***, waiving all non-refundable deposits as a gesture of good will and no hard feelings from our end. Ms. said in her interview she felt this industry was "her destiny", and we certainly wish her all the best in her pursuit of it, and are disappointed we could not give her career a boost through our services.
Tell us why here...
We love Seattle Talent! My son has been taking classes there since September, has been cast in a commercial and got a callback for a film short. He was just selected to attend IMTA New York 2019 and he is so excited!
We went into it understanding that in the entertainment industry, everyone does not get cast. It’s strange to see that people leave bad reviews if they (or their kid) doesn’t get cast! My son has auditioned for many parts that he didn’t get, but the classes have been helping him get better at acting each week.
I signed my son up for modeling through Seattle Talent when they came to Spokane Washington last March 11th. 2018. I paid out $4900.00 for a limited amount of acting classes and was under the impression that my son would get a modeling/acting or commercial career based on his looks. We were told to purchase new clothes in blue, olive colored. Dye his back to his natural color, not to get anymore tattoos, and to let the gauges in his ears taken out and his eye brow piecing. I am a single mom and was excited to have him do this but now with no commercials after sending in photo shot pictures and everything else that comes up for his qualifications, there is nothing after almost a year later. I am financially strapped now because I took out a loan to pay for this all to be let down. Then after the initial classes were over he got picked to go to MAM but they wanted more money which I couldnt afford. I feel that I was taken advantage of and misled that my son was going to have a chance at going far in the industries. I would like a refund of the $4900.00 that I paid out to Seattle Talent and got nothing in return. This has been a total disappointment for my son who had his hopes up of modeling and then nothing. A refund for the $4900.00 that I paid out would be greatly appreciated as being a single mom this has been a financial burden on me.
While we understand that she might be eager to recoup an investment into *** new venture, there seems to be a conflating of opportunity at jobs that can lead to a Career, and being promised a Career, which is impossible to do. An Agency can provide auditions, the Production Company actually picks the Talent. *** was not promised a Career when he signed up, our Staff is very plain spoken about that, and there is a clause in the contract that Ms. signed that states "CLIENT/PARENT hereby acknowledges that he/she enters into this contract voluntarily and without any reliance on representations, promises, or inducements made by any agents or employees of Seattle Talent which is not set forth in this agreement". I have also attached the email reports for *** and Ms. email, there are many announcements and opportunities that they are not responding too. ***, in the program he signed up for, has the ability to retake Workshops offered in Spokane each time we are in his city, roughly every six months, for no additional costs, he has the ability to come to Seattle and take an unlimited amount of workshops to better his skill level and add to his experience level, he has the ability to participate in monthly Agent Day's in our Seattle Office, where we fly Agencies from LA to Seattle to interview our Clients (that can be done in person or online, *** has not taken advantage of either), and he has the ability as a Career Client to have personal access to the Owner and President of Seattle Talent for individual advice, and he has not contacted him. *** has also not contacted our Booking Agent to ask if there was anything else he could be doing. At no point was he told that he could take the initial workshops and be working full time as a model within a few months, that is a nonsensical expectation, much like expecting to be able to get a full ride basketball scholarship to the UW because one paid for a season of select basketball. This is a process of varying length for all who pursue it, depending on age, talent, experience, and how responsibly one actually pursues it, and for how long. *** has plenty of opportunity to keep pursuing this as a Career Client, and we encourage him to keep knocking on every door I have outlined in this response, to take advantage of all his Mom invested in, and use his access to our Staff here to explore what he has not tried yet, and not to rely on luck but perseverance. We are doing what we outlined in the Contract that Ms. signed, and will continue to do so as long as *** wants to participate in good faith.

My son at the sign up was told he needed to take his gauges earring out, bleach his hair back to his natural color, not to get anymore tattoos, get certain color clothing and to go to a gym to get more fit. Which is all the things that we did before he started his classes. Here in Spokane he only attended 5 classes every sunday before the IMAT came in and wanted him to go forward which would of costed more money. We were never told that there would be more classes he could attend in Spokane. I called and spoke with Mark because I thought there would be another schedule that comes out in the following months but he said that class was done. Is there more class that my son could attend in spokane then to help him better his chance at getting a gig versus having to pay more money for him to go to the IMAT audition. We werent told any of the things you listed in your reply. He has sent his photo shoot pictures when he meets the qualifications but hasnt met that many of them to even send in his photo for. I feel that we got scammed out of $4900.00. No one has ever gotten ahold of him to ask if there was any help that they could offer to help him. Absolutely nothing. We dont know how to go about contacting anyone as we havent gotten any information about it. All we thought was he was to go to the classes and then they would have talent agents come in and pick up students for commercial and acting. That why I felt we were misled on all this information. My son was looking forward to doing modeling as he has the looks for it but nothing.
I am not sure how else to respond, other than to say this Client has plenty of opportunity still with the company. He has barely participated at this point, there was never any promise of work let alone a "career" within nine months of taking a few workshops and meeting an Agent, obviously, there needs to be more work put in. This Client signed a contract stating that there are no promises of employment, then has not fully explored everything that their program allows them to. It is not believable that Ms. didnt know how to contact the company, she has received dozens and dozens of emails to the office, she has all of the paperwork that has out phone number and website on, she has the personal number of the Scout she signed up with, and the only time we hear of her unhappiness is a complaint to the Revdex.com. *** has ample opportunity still, as laid out in our previous response, from retaking workshops, to applying for the castings that are sent out, to self tape for monthly agent days, etc.
If I could give no stars I would. Very disappointed about my sons modeling/acting career.
Paid $4900.00 for some local classes and a photo shoot over in Seattle and now nothing since, even after submitting many portfolios and photo shoot pictures for opening casting jobs.
We signed our daughter up with Seattle Talent in Yakima, WA. During the conference with Diane, we discussed the contract for Seattle Talent auditions. We were also informed that we were going to need a photo shoot. We were offered to have their photographer take the photos, or we can find one on our own. At the moment we decided we would pay there photographer, but were informed by Diane that if we had a photographer of our own take the photos, the money would be refundable. We have found someone locally to take the photos, and I've contacted Hank (the business owner) to inform him, and Diane is informed as well. According to Hank, he can't refund the money because he has paid the photographer. Our appointment is scheduled for July 22, 2018 at 3pm, he has more than enough time to cancel the appointment. Hank refuses to refund the money, and I would like a full refund in the amount of $495.00, which is what we paid for the photo shoot with Seattle Talent. He has offered to take pictures for next year, and that is not what I'm asking for. I don't plan to continue with this business, so I will not need photos for next year.
After speaking with Ms., and reviewing the situation with both Ms. and Mr., it was determined that it was better in this particular situation to forgo our normal cancellation policy, and refund the cost of the photoshoot back to the family, as we would like Ms. daughter to remain a Client and be able to take advantage of every opportunity that brings her.
