One of the worst ever experience, My wife asked them to tow her Audi 2012 for 5 miles and they charged her almost $900 and Car key was locked at the trunk and they unlocked her door, If they are a trained professional they should have known that Audi 2012 convertible coupe doesn't have the trunk opener inside the car it should be opened from the key itself, My wife paid with her sister's card; they should not have allowed her to pay with her sisters card and her sister said that she thought it would be only 100-300 so she had to dispute the charges with her bank. they should have asked her to call her insurance for help, and My wife is calling them for assistance, they are super rude, she asked them to send her the revised invoice since towing 5 miles should have been under $200 but they threatened her saying they are going to send her to collection.

When I first called I was quoted $302.00 after tax by the hour. He arrived at 5:30 we arrived at my house at 6:45 he than tells me I owe him $757. I rufused they threatened to take my truck back to seattle after much arguing they said they would take $550 I give him the money and tell him that I want to hear the recorded phone call and let him know not that I am not happy and would be looking into this. He than tells me if I am going to give them trouble he was gonna take my truck anyway and rolls up the window with my debit card and money I threaten with law enforcement. He finally drops the truck at this point I have already asked for copys of my reciept numerous times he texted me receipt for my debit but not cash I tell him I need it and then he trys to leave real fast without giving it to me I had to chase him down the road for him to write it on a piece of garbage. This company needs to be looked into!

Thanks for giving us an opportunity to respond to the customer's complaint. I do apologize for such a late response its because all our calls are recorded by a third party vendor. And some times it take longer than usual to retrieve the recordings for specific calls. On behalf of Seattle Towing I assure you that we take our reviews and complaints very serious. After thoroughly checking all the facts regarding *** complaint , please find below our findings :

1. Seattle Towing dispatch received a call from *** (*** @ 4:48pm on 10/27/2018. A Saturday Evening). *** asked for quote for the tow of her *** from *** Parking garage level-3 (Clearance 6’8”). Dispatch clearly told her that such tows end up pretty expensive and asked if she had any Roadside Assistance plan or any insurance coverage for such a tow. Please check attached below the recording of the first call. Further more the dispatch offered her a discounted rate of $275/hr plus tax 10.10% (total : $302.78/hr) rather than $325/hr plus tax. *** said that she would call back.

2. Five minutes later *** called back and confirmed that she’s okay with the price and asked to dispatch a truck. Please find attached the recording of the second call.

3. Seattle Towing dispatched two trucks to the scene. One short truck to tow the vehicle out of the parking garage because bigger truck can’t access low clearance parking garage entrances. But at the same time *** can’t be towed all the way to Tacoma on the same smaller truck cause ***s are heavier than usual SUVs, so it had to be towed by a regular tow truck. But she was never charged for the second truck, it was a complementary add on. Usually we would charge an additional one hour minimum fee. Since *** stadium parking garage is literally 10 minutes drive from our base (3834 4th Ave S., Seattle WA 98134), the trucks dispatched arrived at the scene at 5:09pm. Please find attached Tow Slip signed by ***.

4. Usually it takes 45 minutes to an hour to drive a tow truck into a low clearance parking garage, hook the vehicle and tow the vehicle out of a parking garage. But in this case it had to be unloaded from the smaller truck and then loaded again on the *** outside the parking garage. The vehicle was safely towed to *** home. The driver arrived at *** home at 6:45pm. The driver met *** outside her home and she confirmed the spot where to unload her vehicle at.

5. When the driver asked for the payment *** responded that she would pay the bill later. She asked to send her the bill and she would pay that later. The driver called the dispatch and updated the drop scenario. Dispatch and the driver both tried to communicate with *** by explaining her that we do not have any pay later policy. She claimed that she did not have the means to pay now but she would pay later. Furthermore she was clearly informed that the vehicle would not be released until the charges were paid on the spot. *** asked to take her vehicle and her lawyer would take Seattle Towing to court. She then started pulling out all her stuff from her car. She claimed that she called the cops. At that point she was again reminded that she would be charged for the way back plus the storage till she pays her charges. This whole dilemma finally ended when *** decided that she would pay the charges. She inquired about the charges and she was quoted $756.94. She asked for the break down and she was given the break down as following @ 7:25pm :

Truck Dispatch Time (to the pick up location) : 5:00pm

Estimated End Time for the Job (at the drop location) : 7:38pm

Tow Charges : $275/hr X 2.5 Hours = $687.50 plus tax (10.10%) = Total : $756.94.

6. *** disputed the charges by claiming that the truck arrived at 5:30pm rather than 5:09pm. To accommodate her as much as we could, we agreed at the start time of the call from 5:30pm. Her charges were rendered to 2 hrs @$275/plus tax = $605.55.(please find attached *** Invoice). She agreed to the charges and pulled out her debit card asked the driver to charge only $327 on that card (*** ending in *** @ 7:31pm). Please find attached *** CC Receipt showing the exact time of 7:31pm.

7. *** told the driver that she would pay the remaining balance in cash. The driver un hooked the car and pushed it to the spot where she wanted her vehicle to be parked. *** went inside her home and came out with cash $225 after 20 minutes and said thats all I am paying you. The driver had to leave at 8:15pm. *** invoice is still open with balance due of $53.55.

*** claims that she should've been charged for 1hr and 15 minutes (5:30pm to 6:45pm). One hour and 15 minutes to tow a *** from level-3 parking garage of *** (clearance 6’8”) to Tacoma is absolutely unrealistic and unfair. To be honest the most I can do here is to write off her outstanding balance of $53.55 rather than sending it to collections. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further queries.

on Saturday the 4th 2018, I called in to have a vehicle picked up in Edmonds WA to be dropped off at a dealership in Everette WA. When I call and asked if they were able to transport a motorcycle, I was told yes they can and it would cost me $225 an hour and that they can have someone to pick up within the hour with no mention of my charges started when they dispatched in south Seattle. The driver got to my location, introduced himself and began loading up my vehicle. I arrived at the dealership shortly after the truck and noticed he was not parked at the service department but in the parking lot. When I approached him he then asked me "weather I was told how they charge" to which I answered it is $225 an hour, he rebutted with $225 from dispatch and he calculated three (3) hours totaling $743.18 after taxes. At that point I was stunned and and asked wasn't the point of charge from the second my vehicle gets onto the towing truck? Then he asked weather I was going to pay or not with my motorbike still strapped to his truck. I saw that as intimidation, I am guessing he was going to keep my property if I refused to pay that outrageous bill. I did pay and have since then call on four different occasions try to speak to the manager but have been told he will contact me at some point and he will tell me that the rates stand. A gentleman who answered the phone said to me "you are one of those customers who want to pay $50 for a service that cost hundreds. My main issue is that they were not forthright about their service. If I was given the correct information I would have been able to make a better decision and choose a towing company closer to Edmonds rather than south Seattle. I feel like I was scammed with no way out. This company has to be honest so they can have a good reputation and offer a good service.

Dear ***

I do apologize for your bad experience with Seattle Towing. We take customer complaints very seriously by doing everything and anything with in our means.

After thoroughly looking into your complaint, I have learnt the following facts :

1. The dispatch was very upfront by giving you the quote of $225/hr base to base plus tax. Our standard rates for light duty vehicles & motorcycles is $275/hr plus tax base to base. So you were already given a discount of $50/hr in total $150.

2. After checking with the driver, I also learnt that the driver also thoroughly explained you the pricing.

Seattle Towing provides services above all standards of the local towing companies. No towing companies would dispatch a truck out of their service area. But we do provide services anywhere we can possibly do.

Thats one of the reasons that we use base to base pricing structure.

As far as returning your calls is concerned. You called multiple times threatening to take Seattle Towing to court if you were not refunded a discount or any compensation. I don't think any business should respond to such threats. Further more you claimed that other towing companies based in Edmonds would have been cheaper. I totally agree with you because their en-route time and distance is also way lower than us since we are base in SODO.

Its totally unfair to compare a rendered service at an agreed and paid price with another service provider's pricing regardless of their locations or pricing.

We never claimed to be a cheaper towing company at all .

Requesting a tow truck from south Seattle knowingly that the ETA was 1 hr and claiming that you did not know that the two truck was coming from Seattle thats why you should be given a discount. I do apologize for not being able to see any possible discount for you in this situation.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further queries.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: This is way I stated in my last email the honesty and being upfront is what this company needs. At no point in the conversation between me and the dispatch did I ever ask for a discount and only after getting to the drop-off location did the driver asked and I qoute "did they tell you how we charge?" . I did threaten to go to the state with my complaint but never once uttered the word court . Also I did speak to someone who stated that they would go through the "recorded call that I place on that morning with dispatch to listen to the conversation" .I am sure if that was recorded you will hear the dipatch employee say to me "we charge 225.00 per hour". With no mention of being offered a discount. It was the driver who explain the was the company charges and that was only after my vehicle was picked up and already at the drop of location and as I stated before, with the intimidating question shoved into my face with my vehicle still imprisoned on their truck with tie downs made me feel like I no choice but to pay or he would leave with my vehicle. As I have said before this company has made me feel like I have been scammed and I don't like it and nor would I want the same for anyone else.

Sincerely

Mark with Seattle towing was friendly and extremely helpful. He spent a lot of time trying to help us get our VW TDI started so that it would be eligible for their recall buyback. After about an hour we were able to start it and get it on its way back to VW!

Sean was quick and super helpful!! Very professional and friendly!!! I waited for another towing company for five hours and they cancelled on me and Seattle towing came to the rescue!! Earned my business for life !
