Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] Please add your rejection comments below The responder [redacted] ( one of the owners) has a few facts wrong, and has placed the blame for the missing cover entirely on me & my sonHis part in this is to get the pontoon boat in & out of the water and bring it to storage & back with his truckThe boat is registered to me & I pay all the bills for it.Fact # 1: the boat is years old, not 15.Fact # 2: my son said I was"anal" about the covers being snapped down before transport, NOT that I was hard to deal with.Fact #3: I never saw the generic console cover that she gave to my son & did not know that it had snapsHe told me it didn't fit so he brought it backI was at home, miles from where the boat is kept during that time.Fact #4: the console cover was never lost before, it was the captains chair cover, which did not snap down.Fact #5: after listening to her tell me very rudely that they would not pay to have a cover made (I had not even asked or demanded that) and also that I had no proof the cover was on the console when the boat was dropped off, I was very upsetI told her that I was going to seek legal advice, NOT that I was going to hire a lawyer.I called my son to tell him what had just happened, and sometime after that he called herI don't know What was said, only that he was angry because I was upset.During all this, no mention was ever made that the boat had to be transported by SR&S from where we dropped it off in Newport, ME to the storage facility in Unity, ME in October, and back again in JuneI would guess this is a mile one way tripThe possibility that the cover blew off during this transport was never brought up.We dropped the boat off in October with all covers intactWhen we picked it up in June the console cover was missingIt cost me $to have a new cover made. Our first transactions when the cover was missing were with both owners, [redacted] & *** [redacted] said he would look for the cover in his shop & also at the storage facilityWhen I contacted SR&S to see if he had found it, [redacted] was the one who responded, and all further communication was with her. What upset me most was that SR&S had the attitude that "we are right and the customer is wrong"There was no compromise or room for discussionI am an honest person, and I don't appreciate the implication that I am a liarThis is not a good way to do business Regards, [redacted]

Once again the business has misstated the information.#1: I knew where my boat was going to be stored when I signed the contract. (*** *** *** *** ** ***) What I didn't know was the distance from where we dropped off the boat at SR&S to where they took it for storage, so I guessed about milesAfter I sent that message I looked up the addresses involved on Google Maps and found it was actually miles one wayMy point was that the cover could have blown off during their trip to or from the storage facility, which was a considerably longer distance than when we brought it from the Public Boat Launch on Great Moose Lake in Hartland to SR&S in Newport, ME, a distance of milesThis possibility was never acknowledged or discussed.#2: the console cover in question had never been lost beforeAs I stated in my last message, it was the captains chair cover that was lost several years ago, and I was well aware of that-I paid for the new cover to be made for thatThe cover that disappeared during the 2014-storage season was the original console cover that came with the boatThe owner (***) who is responding to this complaint never saw the boat when it was dropped off in October 2014; the person who signed for it was John Watson, who I was told no longer is employed by the business.#3: No, I never asked SR&S to order a cover that would fit, because by the time I talked with them about this, I had learned from ***, the boat manufacturer, that this cover was no longer being made, and there were none in stock to order*** said that the best replacement option was to have a cover made, so I researched a local business that makes boat coversI told *** that I had done that...researched only, and found someone who could make a coverI had not been given a price or actually ordered a cover at that pointShe immediately said they would not pay for a cover to be made, and I had not even asked for that yetHer negative attitude at this point was what really upset me.I don't like being made to look like the person who doesn't know what's going on...with facts being twisted to fit SR&S best interestsI don't think that SR&S "tried their best" to address my complaintAn offer of at least paying half the cost of a new cover would have been acceptable, in my opinionAnd/or admitting that they could have lost the cover during transport or at their facility would have been a gesture that would have made my opinion of this business more favorable. The issue of dealing with different people with the same boat is irrelevant, and only another excuse to make us look badPlease note that only I have been addressing this issue with Revdex.com...my son has not been involved, as I am the owner of the boat, and the person who has paid all the billsHis involvement was to drop off & pick up the boat; his most pressing issue was with the way I was treated by ***, one of the business owners, when I tried to get some compensation for the lost cover. Regards,

In response to complaint [redacted]. Ms [redacted] is correct we did store her boat and yes she said she took pictures of the boat at the boat landing then her son drove that boat 12 miles to our business. We do not take inventory of boat covers when they come in. When her son picked up...

the boat on June 12, 2015 he asked about the console cover. At that time we told him that we have no reason to remove that cover and we was told by him that sometimes they forget and he would check at his camp. Never heard back from his so assumed it was found. Ms [redacted] came into our place of business demanding her cover, we told her what her son had told us, we were waiting to hear back from him we told her that we would look but again have no need to remove her cover. When we do spring start ups we unsnap them enough to reach the key to start it. Her son came back and I gave him a new cover I had here from buying out a marine company that went out of business. At that time her son admitted that his mother is sometimes hard to deal with and that he had lost the cover before when he forgot to snap it down. Ms [redacted] called said her son was returning the cover because the snaps didn’t line up. Her son brought it back and told us the same thing because snaps didn’t line up. A few days later she called to tell us that they didn’t make that cover anymore because the boat is 15 years old and we were going to pay for a cover she was having special made. She then threatened me with hiring a lawyer. I told her I didn’t believe we lost her cover. After having the conversations with her son, I am not so sure it was on when it got here. Shortly after Ms [redacted]’s call her son called started hollering at me about not paying for the cover. I tried to tell him to stop hollering at me but it didn’t stop. he then threatened to go on [redacted] and say a lot of bad things about our business and ruin us, when the name calling started I hung up on him. We did try to help her by giving her a new cover, the biggest problem is we're dealing with both son and mother and getting different stories. We are still willing to give them back the new cover and they can change the snaps to fit.

Our response is if we knew we had lost her cover we would take care of it. She signed a contract with the address of the storage building on it so we are not sure why she didn’t know where her boat was stored. This is what happens when you are dealing with two different people with the same boat. She says the cover has never been lost but her son told us he lost it before and had to buy another one, not sure if she knew about it. We didn’t know she never saw the new cover we gave them, not sure whats going on there. She never asked us about ordering a cover that would fit, only told she was having one made and we were going to take care of it. We take care of over 300 boats a season and we do our best to take care of all of them and a storage building that is full with a waiting list. Sorry we couldn’t make her happy but we tried our best.
