Second Chance Auto Group Reviews (2)

Review: Illegal vehicle sale.

On July 2, 2013 I purchased 2006 Hyundai Azera (VIN: KMHFC46F16AOXXXXX) from Second Chance Auto Group. My deal went through the finance manager [redacted] aka [redacted] The day of the sale I traded in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $1000.00 and provided a $1500.00 in cash down payment. In all, I placed $2500.00 down on my new car. I proceeded to sign all of my necessary documents and drove off the lot happy to have purchased a new car. However, things would soon change.

On or about July 15, 2013 I received a phone call from "[redacted]" secretary at Second Chance Auto Group. She reported that they were having issues processing my deal through the finance company, United Auto Credit. She stated that the finance company referred my file back to the dealership. [redacted] asked me to come into their office in order to reconstruct my deal. I went to Second Chance Auto Group office on July 16th at approximately 1:00pm, July 19th at approximately 3:00pm, and July 20th at approximately 5:00pm; each time no one was in the office.

On Tuesday July 23, 2013, I left my home to transport my daughter to school at approximately 9:00am and my vehicle was taken from my parking space. I immediately contacted Sacramento Police Department to report my car stolen and was informed that the car was "repossessed". SPD informed me that my car was seized by a local tow company, [redacted] LLC. I contacted the tow company in order to find out why the vehicle was taken and retrieve my belongings. At approximately 9:15am, I contacted Second Chance Auto Group over the span of three hours and was not able to reach anyone. I finally connected with [redacted] at approximately 12:15pm. I informed [redacted] that my car was taken, she stated that they had no idea who took the car and that it was not on their lot. [redacted] stated "we received a phone call this morning from the finance company that they reported that they were repossessing the car. She also informed me that the owner "[redacted]" was in the process of obtaining financing from another company. I found this odd due to the fact that a deal was never made through the finance company, therefore why would they repossess the vehicle. I decided to contact the finance company directly. At approximately 12:35pm spoke with a finance representative named [redacted] informed me that they were unable to verify one of my paystubs consequently, they were unable to proceed with the deal. [redacted] also informed me that she contacted Second Change Auto Group and referred my case back to them.

After speaking with [redacted] I attempted to contact Second Chance Auto Group and was unable to connect with anyone. I then asked a neighbor to transport me to the dealership. I arrived at the dealership at approximately 2:30pm. No one was in the office. Also, I observed that all of their vehicles were gone, the lot was empty. I waited in front of the dealership for approximately two hours, no one ever returned to the office.

On July 24, 2013 I began calling the dealership at approximately 9:00am. No one picked up the phone. I also went to the dealership to find the gate closed and the office locked. I left a note for [redacted] on their door to contact me immediately. At approximately 3:00pm, I returned to the dealership and spoke with two gentlemen that were waiting outside of the office. Both informed me that they were going through the same issues with the dealership. One of the gentlemen stated "there is some very shady stuff going on at this dealership". He went on to say that the finance manager [redacted] was falsifying documents and making illegal deals. He also stated that [redacted] abruptly left the dealership, stealing several thousands of dollars and left the owner [redacted] with $250,000,000 in debt. The gentlemen also stated that [redacted] is in the process of filing bankruptcy and a law suit against [redacted] He further stated that [redacted] has to sale all of the cars on the lot which is why the lot is empty. Desired Settlement: As of today, I have not received a phone call, email or any response regarding my car. I also found out that Second Change Auto Group has sold my traded in Jeep Cherokee and has profited off of its sale. This is also illegal, as a dealership is not to sale a trade in until the owners deal is finalized. I have made reports to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Sacramento Police Department, the Revdex.com, and Consumer Affairs.

I am now carless, left without my $2500.00 down payment and have no transportation to and from work. I also am not able to transport my daughter to school. All I am asking for is some resolve. Second Chance Auto Group needs to provide me with my down payment, plus the profit made from the sale of my Jeep. I have also taken two days off of work in order in an attempt to resolve this matter. It is not right that these businesses are able to prey on consumers without repercussions and consequences. I am a victim and I am now left with nothing.

Review: My 2006 Chrysler 300 competely broke down after about 3 months after purchase. The oil pump went out, the engine blew and the transmission went out.

On February 8th 2013 I purchased a used pearl white 2006 Chrysler 300-v6 R.O.S. number XXXXXXXX and stock number XXXXX and vin # 2C3LA43RX6HXXXXXX with 100,783 miles form Second Chance Auto Group dealer number XXXXX located at 3463 Florin Road 95823. The total cash cost of the vehicle was $12,988 but I financed the car. I paid $3600 down. There were three debits on my Visa debit card. The first was for $2000 the second was for $1000 made on February 8th 2013 and the third was for $600 made on. February 9th 2013. After buying the car I returned to Second Chance Auto on February 11th because everytime I made a sharp turn such as a u-turn the car would stall in traffic this happend about 4 different times. The dealer had his machanic look at the car while I stood and watched. Then I was asked to make a sharp turn in the parking lot of the business which I did and again the car stalled. I was tld it was because of the hug rims which came on the car when I purchased it. I also told them about the loud noice and rattle that came from he motor everytime I started the car after it had cooled from not being driven for a few hours.

I was told that that was normal for a car with such high miles. I dealer assured me that there was nothing wrong with the car. So I got in my car and left. When I bought the vehicle I was told that the car was clean title but I believe that there was an accident on the front drivers side because the dealer offered to fix the hood because it was slight bent and wouldnt allow the hood to close flush with the car. I was showed a CarFax report with other cars info mixed in with mine which I didnt realize until my friend said something about it.

On May 13th I was driving down Power Inn Blvd and the car started making this horrible noice and no matter how hard I press the gas I couldnt go pass 34 mph. The car made a loud grinding noice and cut off in the middle of the road. I rolled to the side and called a tow truck. I called my insurance company and they sent out their investigator and I was informed that my insurance would not cover the car because Mercury Insurance had concluded after the invesigator and Mechanics at [redacted] on Fruitridge Blvd finished with the car that my the car breaking down was a mechanical problem that was wrong with the car when I purchased it. I was told by the insurance company of all the damage on my car. The oil pump went out the motor was blown and I needed transmission work. I tried calling Secon Chance Auto but the phone just rang and the message machine picked up. I left several messages but no one ever called back. So I borrowed my sisters car and drove over to the company and to my horror they had packed up and left. There were no cars on the lot and there was a for rent sign on the closed lock gate.Desired Settlement: Im asking for for my down payment of $3600 and my first two monthly payments of $354.96 back. Im asking for a total refund of $4309.92 .
