Secure Moving

We schedule a move of minimum 3 hours to have two movers and one moving truck to move a the fridge and about 15 bins/boxes from our current location to our new address, then bring the fridge from the new address to our current location. We paid a $100 deposit. The movers arrived promptly at 10AM, it took them about an hour to load all the bins and boxes, When we scheduled the move, we advised the customer service that the fridge door would need to be removed as the space was not wide enough to move the fridge with the doors. For 2.5 hours, the movers wrapped the fridge with doors on at least twice and tried several times to move the refrigerator down the three stairs, which were two narrow. This resulted in several scratches and gauges in our hardwood floor and stairs, some 1/8 inch deep. The movers endeavoured to repair the damage using a brown marker. The movers had two moving blankets in the kitchen which were never used. In all it took the movers 8.5 hours to complete moving both fridges. The owner phoned wanting to charge us for the full 8.5 hours and $99 Fuel surcharge which was not in the original quote. We verbally agreed on a lower amount, however, when he charged my visa card, he charged us for the full amount and did not deduct the $100 deposit. The movers spent needless time trying to move the fridge without removing the doors and drawers, damaging our flooring. The owner insisted on charging us for this time, and advised that we should have informed him earlier that there was a problem, even though he stated he was in constant contact with his employees. So we have now been overcharged $100 and having damage to our hardwood floor and stairs that required us to file an insurance claim with their company. My recommendation is not use Secure Moving for any type of job, and NOT TO GIVE THEM YOUR VISA CARD DETAILS. WE WERE OVERCHARGED BY $344.OO OVER THE AGREED AMOUNT AND $100 DEPOSIT. ALSO THE OWNER WOULD NOT LET HIS EMPLOYEES COMPLETE THE WORK UNTIL WE PAID.
