Review: I RECENTLY VISITED THE SECURITY FOR AMERICA INC COMPANY TODAY FOR A INTERVIEW BASED ON ADVERTISEMENT I SEEN ON CRAIGSLIST, IN THE PROCESS I WENT TO THE INTERVIEW AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY 100 DOLLARS FOR A FIRE GUARD CERTIFICATE AND HAD A REMAINING BALANCE OF 100 DOLLARS AFTER I COMPLETE THE CLASS THE NEXT DAY EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD THAT THE JOB WAS NOT PROMISED. I TOOK THE TIME TO VISIT THE Revdex.com WEBSITE TO SEE IF THE COMPANY MEETS UP TO THE THE BUREAU'S REQUIREMENTS OF BEING A LEGIT BUSINESS BECAUSE OF ISSUES IN THE PAST AND I CAME ACROSS THE IDEA THAT THEY ARE NOT A LEGIT BUSINESS SO I DECIDED TO NOT PROCEED WITH THE COMPANY AND GET MY REFUND OF 100 DOLLARS.Desired Settlement: 100 DOLLARS

Response:

This is to respond to the complaint in case ID# [redacted] that [redacted] has submitted.

[redacted] had agreed to go through training with our company for a training course and also agreed when he signed up that the $100 is non-refundable.

He has signed and agreed that he had full understanding of the agreement when he signed his paperwork.

Since security for America is legitimate business and [redacted] did agree to the no refund policy Security for America. Security for America is not responsible for his choices to not attend the program and will not issue a refund. Security for America would be willing to proceed with the training he signed up for at any time as long as there is an available class being held.

Iwould also like to point out [redacted] listed the wrong purchase price for the service of training. It is $200 in total ($160 +$40) as shown on the attached contract.

Sincerely,

Review: I payed the agency $340 to get me OSHA certified and the place of employment.I was certified by OSHA but not placed in any job.when I called I was told I had to wait for placement coordinator. I waited a week and since I wasn't getting my calls answered I went to the office and found out that the office was closed down and they said they went out of business.I paid $340 and didn't get the services that I was promised.the OSHA certification online is about $80 to $100 I payed the $340 cause I was promised a place of employment.Desired Settlement: at least give me half my money back. I couldve went online and taken the OSHA certification for less money instead of payed $340 cause they promised me work.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I applied for a job via [redacted] for a corporate front desk job. Shortly after I received a phone call from a woman stating she was calling to ask if I was interested in this position, I said yes. She asked me a few questions for example, if I was 18 or over, did I have a criminal background, among other questions. I responded accordingly. She stated that she would love if I would come in for an interview, She also informed me to bring a copy of my resume, my social security card, and that I would have to bring in a $100 just in case they considered me for the job. I said alright, she gave me the address and time to be there. When I arrived at [redacted], the office looked like a recruitment center not an office environment. I went to the front desk and stated that I had an interview with [redacted]. She handed me a clipboard with papers to fill out and told me to have a seat and complete application once more and they would be calling me shortly. I filled out the application among other papers and handed her the clipboard. She told me to have a seat and I will be called by name. I waited about 30mins before I was called in. [redacted] had introduced himself and told me to have a seat in his office. There two other women making calls right behind me saying the exact same thing I heard prior to coming to this place. He explained more about the job and that if I'm considered that I would have to pay $100 for the class in order to be hired. I answered all questions as required. Then he told me that I fit the position and that they would love to hire me. I accepted the job and then he shook my hand and welcomed me aboard. The next step after that was me paying for the class. He had informed me that he had would pay $150 for me and all I had to do was give the $100 for registration. I handed $100 it to him and he told me he would be right back. Shortly after that he left he returned with a paper and my receipt for the payment, told me that the full amount was actually going to be $350 for the total three day course but that didn't have to pay the full amount today. He gave me a paper with the scheduled days which were Tuesday - Thursday (3/**/13-3/**/13) from 9am - 5pm explaining that I would have to pay a certain amount for each of those days. (Tuesday $80, Wednesday $80 , and Thursday $90). I agreed and signed the paper. He informed me that upon completion, the company provided life time job placement. I was pleased to hear that and was excited to get started. I completed all classes which were the 8hr and 16hr. [redacted] came into the class on 3/**/13 explaining that he will be handing out appointment papers to meet with him for job placement. He also stated that he will also schedule us for our first interview on that day, and that we were to dress in business attire. He gave us papers to take to the licensing place if we wanted to pay for our own licenses to make the job placement easier, but it was optional. I came on my scheduled day dressed professionally. He handed me a paper that stated the name of the security company, the location, date, and time to be there. He told me to ask for a specific person, to hand them that paper, and tell them that [redacted] sent me. I did as I was told and when I got there the lady at the front desk of Cambridge told me she had no idea who I was talking about. I went through the whole process of applying and never got a call back. I returned to the Security for America building about two weeks after explaining what happened and [redacted] told me not to worry about it and that the lady didn't know any better. He said he would call me in a couple of weeks to schedule me for another interview because he didn't have anymore jobs available for me. I agreed not thinking anything of it. Out of curiosity I called Cambridge back and asked the woman that [redacted] was speaking of how long has she been working for the company. She replied over 10 years. I was shocked to hear that. She also informed me that Security for America was a bunch of scams artists trying to take a lot peoples money. That's when I started looking into it a bit more. As I researched the company name via the internet, I was shocked to see that the woman from Cambridge was completely accurate with her statement. I waited for the two weeks to come and go and there was no response from [redacted], so I called the office. They informed me that he wasn't available at the moment, that they'll take a message for him. I waited, waited and, waited. HE NEVER CALLED BACK! I called the office several times they kept on giving me the run around. Most times they didn't even pick up! I ended up going back to [redacted] to attempt to speak to him in person and to my surprise he was actually there. He had informed me that he never received any of my messages. I was astonished. I asked him about the on going job placement and told me he didn't have any jobs available and thats why he hasn't called. As I was leaving I over heard a man saying this place is a scam and that he wanted his money back. They called the NYPD on him. I asked [redacted] if this place was a legitimate company and thats when his attitude shifted from being kind to rushing me out of the building with force. I left the building. weeks after I called ###-###-#### several times after that and no one answered. I left messages and no one called back. Then the company kept on calling me as if it were the first time again, trying to make me take the classes. I guess they didn't even realize until I told them that I completed the course and that I was waiting for a response for quite a while. They would say that they would relay the message but never did . I received a call from the company today and they were asking the same questions again. I told the woman that completed the course once again and she was asking if I was looking for work and I responded that I've been calling the company and that they were giving me the run around and she simply replied " Well I can't help you" and hung up in my face. When I called back they refused to answer the phone. After the 10th time I called the woman picked up the phone and then hung it up again. She even took the phone off the hook. I went to the place and demanded a refund and they told me that if I didn't leave the property that there was going to be a problem. I asked why were they false advertising information when thats not what they're really about, also saying that they were suppose to provide LIFETIME job placement and that they were telling a bunch of lies. They called the police. I kept on implying all I want is my refund and I will leave and not report them but they continued to rush me out of the office. I haven't had a job nor interview from these people. They truly are a scam!!!! They lie about LIFETIME job placement, and truly do not care about your well being as long as they have your money thats all that matters to them.Desired Settlement: I just want my money refunded for the class. This company should not be allowed to scam people like this.

Response:

This is to respond to the complaint in case ID# [redacted] that [redacted] submitted.

[redacted] did in fact come to our facility and enrolled in a training program which she has paid for and completed on the [redacted] of March 2013. On the [redacted] she was offered a placement assistance appointment with us for the following week. Upon accepting her appointment she was given a disclaimer which she agreed to. (file attached) It states:

"Disclaimer: By accepting this sheet and attending the placement offered by security for America the student this form is issued for agrees to the following:

If an applicant ... acts in an unbecoming manner or refuses any job offer then security

for America reserves the right to revoke further placement from that individual even if it was already scheduled."

Upon going to Cambridge Security [redacted] failed to follow the proper direction of procedures to apply for a job with that company. If you notice in her statement she said she was asked to ask for a specific person, however there has never been any person to ask for upon arrival at the company and no names are given. Also while at Cambridge, as per a phone follow up with the company [redacted] was offered a job but at a pay rate that was lower than what she wanted ($11 p/h).

[redacted], unsatisfied with the results, called back in and requested additional placement in order to obtain a higher pay rate. She was informed that there were no higher pay rates available for her and that other placement would have equal or lower pay rates. She asked when other placements with higher pay rates would come in and she was informed that we have no control over payrates and that we would be able to put her on a list so that when it would become available she would be called so that she may attend that company's interview and apply for those jobs.

After a few weeks [redacted] began to harass one of the sectaries at Security for America. She called and tried to get in contact with our job director and when told that he was not available but a message could be taken she became very hostile over the phone. She called multiple times on the same day to the point where it became harassment and was told to no longer contact Security for America that her behavior would not be tolerated and that we will no longer offer her our assistance in finding a job.

She then came into the building and spoke to our job director. He told her the reasons for not calling her and even showed her companies that were hiring but at the pay rate that she did not desire. She was told that if she no longer behaved in an unprofessional manner Security for America would be willing to continue to assist her and would call her when an opening was available.

After about a week [redacted] then began to apply over and over and over to the schools training add posted online and harassing the people who would talk with her on the phone. She purposefully falsified her resume to make it seem that she had no security training and the automated system that sorts resumes would give her number to one of our employees to call her and offer her training. Then she would tell them that she already did the training and that she should come in and get placement. The messages would get back to our job placement department and they would see she was on a list waiting for a certain pay rate and not call her for placements because employers with those jobs were not available.

It came to a point where she was calling in and sending her resume so many times that we decided she was acting in an extremely unbecoming manner and Security for America has chosen to refuse placement assistance for [redacted].

She came to our premises yelling and screaming and we called the cops to have her removed. [redacted] has received the training services she paid for from Security for America and no longer has any business with our company.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

This is in response to the complaint ID# [redacted]:

As per the claim of [redacted], ("The things they wrote in their statement was incorrect as far as me... refusing a job from them at any point.") Security for America did not and has NEVER offered a job to [redacted] nor was there any written or verbal agreement for her employment with Security for America. We only had an agreement for training which she has paid for and Security for America has completed the service. These documents have already been submitted and the sections pointed out show with her signature to prove this fact.

After her training we offered her free placement assistance, to which she went to a Security company called Cambridge Security. She filled out an application for employment with that company and after being offered a pay rate she did not desire she turned down the job.

We have provided all services paid for by [redacted].

Sincerely,

[redacted],

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Everything they have stated here on this report is FALSE! There is no way I refused work nor did I come in yelling and screaming. I did not act in such manner. Every time I showed up it was strictly professional behavior. They never did call the cops, I did not harass anyone for that matter. On my resume it states that I have a Security License so that too is false. My resume has the proof on it. I stand by my complaint one hundred precent. I have no reason to lie about the experience I've had with them. The paper they gave me for Cambridge has the persons name on it( so they are definitely lying about that ). They never told me that they will never help me with placement, They just didn't help me. Instead they proceeded to gave me the run around, and made plenty of excuses. I also had witnesses when I called especially when the fraudulent non sense began. The point is THEY ARE LYING, AND GIVING FALSE INFORMATION TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS. THEY'RE A COMPANY TRYING TO PROTECT THEMSELVES. EVEN IF IT MEANS THEY HAVE TO REPEATEDLY LIE. Till this day they are still calling me with the same nonsense. I also have voicemails to prove it.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: On August [redacted], I applied for a job offer from "NYC EVENT PRO: Front Desk Attendant/ Clerks job" on [redacted]. At the time, the advertisement seemed like a very attractive opportunity since I was unemployed, and the prospect of me earning $16/Hour seemed like it would help me with my financial responsibilities. I am responsible with assisting both of my parents with half the rent money and half of the car payment, since both of my parents struggle with part-time jobs. I replied to the advertisement with a copy of my resume and contact information, hoping for a call back. On September [redacted], the company called me back with a few screening questions about myself and told me to bring $100 for my first interview which was on September [redacted]. The $100, as was explained by [redacted], would be used towards the down payment for "training purposes." Although this was not mentioned in the original advertisement, I had faith that it would be a good investment since I was in need of a job, and had no other options. Before the end of this interview, [redacted] informed me of an additional $290 fee which would have to be paid in order to continue with the training classes to become a licensed security guard in the state of New York. On the last day of our training, I was informed that there would be an additional charge of $102.25 in order to apply for a security license, and a $36 fee for NY State Issued ID. In total, this company has charged me $390 already out of my pocket without initial disclosure in the original advertisement, and I am expected to pay an additional $138.25 for my security license and ID. This is a classic example of a "bait-and-switch" advertisement, and have payed way too much money so far. I had trouble attaining my NY State ID on Monday, therefore I called the offices of "Security for America" with an explanation and a request to have my interview rescheduled. It has been over 30 hours since I first called them on Monday and have called repeatedly since, and not one person has been able to call me back with any type of assistance. Although I should have been more careful, my dire need for employment had caused me to overlook some red-flags from the very beginning. [redacted] did not give me enough time to read the contract and therefore I signed a contract that I do not agree with and is no way accurate to the original advertisement that I initially applied to. I am embarrassed, I feel like I was taken advantage of, and more importantly, I have had my hard-earned money stolen from me in one of the most trying times of my life since I am still unable to find employment. I have all necessary proof of payments, contracts, and phone calls.Desired Settlement: At this point, all I really want is my money back, all $390. I am unemployed and every single dollar matters to me.

Response:

This is in response to the Complaint with the ID # [redacted].

[redacted] has attended and done training with Security For America which she paid for and received the service

for $390. She was not required to file for any security guard license ($138.25). She was given the information for how to

apply on her own because it is required to be given during state training.

Before enrollment all contracts and documentation is read word for word with the person and has the full price disclosed before the person is allowed to sign. No money was exchanged until [redacted] gave both written and verbal statements that she understood everything.

[redacted] was scheduled to meet with the employer for an interview and agreed to be there but never showed up on the agreed upon date.

[redacted] had a period of more than 2 weeks to apply for the NYS ID and chose to wait until the day of her meeting

to apply. The failure to show up to the job opportunity is the fault of the [redacted] and not Security

for America as she was given advanced notice and a time and date she agreed she could attend.

This is to respond to the complaint in case ID# [redacted] that [redacted] submitted.

We apologize for sending the wrong documentation it was an administration error. However as you can see in information that [redacted] herself has provided she has agreed to the non refundable acknowledgment. Both "There is a non-refundabl e fee at the time of registration for any training..." and "After the start of any training any additional payments will also be non-refundable)"

Since [redacted] has completed her training the services for her money have been provided in full.

The free service of placement assistance which [redacted], even though she has failed to show up to her original appointment, still stands and she is welcome to schedule another appointed for this free service at anytime.

Also attached are the rest of the documents given to [redacted] from both the time of signing and the time of arranging a placement assistance appointment.

Review: As an active job-seeker, I went to Security For America, with the intention of finding a security job. I was invited in to interview with [redacted], who then told me that I was hired right away and had to pay $100 on the spot for "training" that was required to complete along with an extra $400 to complete training to become a security guard. I paid the $100 during the interview that [redacted] said was required. Then upon looking up the reviews on the company, I then learned that Security For America is a fraud. Several people were required to pay fees for training to find a job in security, then being told to pay hundreds of dollars and then directed to places where they cannot find jobs. I contacted Security For America for a refund of my $100, but no one answers the phone when I call. Security For America preys on individuals seeking employment in today's rough economy and job market. They are scammers.Desired Settlement: I would like a return of my $100.

Review: I was called on a friday for an interview on monday (today 11/*/2013). I received the call from [redacted]. I was told to bring my social, ID and $100 in case I will be hired. When I went to the interview everything seemed pretty legit. I was told that tuesday, wednesday and thursday I will be taking the courses. I was also told to bring $90 dollars tuesday and wednesday followed by 100 again on thursday. I am aware that security courses DO have their fee's, but something just did not feel right. When I did my research on this company (unfortunately too late) I read all the negative feedback. I am super upset because I was really excited about this new position I was going to get into.Desired Settlement: I paid $100 dollars in cash, I read all the non refundable prints, but I really feel that this company is an UNETHICAL and VERY dishonest, just unfair. I did not have $100 dollars to waste into this bogus company. Please help me.

Response:

This is to respond to the complaint in case ID# [redacted] that [redacted] submitted.

Security for America is a registered training facility with the state of New York. We offer valid Certifications for Security guard licensing with the state of New York. [redacted] enrolled for training for his certifications in security only. He did not pay Security for America for any licensing.

Security for America cannot control what people write. online even if it is false. However we have many written statements from prior students who attest to our services. Also many reviews written online are written by people who have never been to our company but cannot be removed by us and we are not allowed to post our own reviews on review websites. If [redacted] would like to come in and read the reviews for our company written by our graduates he is more than welcome to do so any time between 1pm and 5pm Monday through Friday.

As [redacted] has agreed at the time of registration that his money was non refundable and he agreed to his full understand of the contracts, Security for America will not issue a refund. However we are more than willing to put any training on hold until [redacted] can come in and read the reviews written by actual graduates of the school or at such time that he chooses to continue on his own.
