I contacted seeking sitters to care for my son. The sitting agreement was from 4:00pm to overnight at 7:00am; When I received the bill the price and hours had been inflated; The sitter didn’t arrive until 4:30pm and although I told her to leave at 7:00am she stayed until 8:00am. My son didn’t wake up until 7:30am and the invoice stated he woke up at 6:30am. This changes the cost from 13:75 per hour (sleeping) to 19.75 (awake). This was a snow day so I know exactly what time my son woke up because he slept in and called me at work.The invoice then initially stated that she stayed 24hours. I disputed that with the owner of the business.
I paid the service fee of $59.00 but a new invoice has now charged me an additional $25.
In addition to the above when I complained to the owner she gave me 3 different amounts to pay which have ranged from $180 - 293. The invoice is inaccurate. My son goes to bed at 9:00pm. The invoice says he went to bed at 10:00pm.
The caretaker was horrible! As I stated above she was late and didn’t arrive until 4:30pm; I called multiple times to ask her to cook dinner for my son before his basketball practice and she made a corn on cob (1).. that’s it although there was lots of food in the fridge for her to cook as we had discussed before her arrival. She left dirty dishes in the sink and dirty linen on the couch
RE: Complaint ID ; *** Dear ***, In response to the complaint I would like to address several areas that she mentioned - pricing, hours of service and service received In regards to pricing, I am including printed snapshots of our website http://seekingsittersmontgomerycounty.com/ that shows our pricing structure. There is a one-time $59.99 membership activation fee for all members. In addition, there is a service plan that can be selected based on how frequently someone might use the service. She had selected the pay per request option which is $25 for each sitting request. The standard hourly rates are $19.75/hour which are shown on our website in a 4-hour block, since we require each job to be at least 4 hours. Our website states to contact Seeking Sitters for pricing for overnight care. This client did not request the information in advance. Our company policy is $19.75/hour for one child up to 24 hours. If the job is longer than 24 hours then the price drops to $13.75/hour for the entire time. When I have a customer, who requests a sitter for less than 24 hours but it does include an overnight while the child(ren) are sleeping I will override the system and charge them the $13.75 for up to 8 hours of sleeping with the remainder being charged at $19.75/hour. In regards to the hours being charged, we require that a sitter fills out a job card and have the parent verify the hours via signature or email or text confirmation. In this case the mom was not home to sign the job card when the sitter left, so she had her verify her hours via text. I have attached the job card and the text verification of the hours that the sitter worked. The sitter noted 8 hours of sleep time which I had informed her would be paid at a lower rate. Upon invoicing for the job, the clients credit card was decline and at that point we started discussing the charges. She would only convers via email or text rather than talk on the phone so I could walk through the charges. I was trying to work with her and even offered to give her a discount, in order for her to pay her invoice. I admit I mistyped on one of the emails/texts when trying to explain the totals because I normally rely on our system to do the calculations for me. I have attached the invoice that I sent to her most recently along with a certified letter to her that shows clearly the total due. This was the third mailed invoice to her. In regards to the service she received, it is unfortunate that the sitter did not perform up to her expectations. SeekingSitters is a babysitting referral service and all sitters are independent contractors who are working for the family. We rely on the feedback of our members to ensure that we send the most qualified sitters. We do take their feedback seriously, however the sitter's actions are completely out of our control. I would be happy to deduct the $25 service fee for the inconvenience. I look forward to a resolution of this dispute and would be happy to provide any further information required. Sincerely, Linda Q
