See's Automotive Reviews (1)

In regards to the letter sent to me by the Revdex.com, I have the following. A few weeks ago a woman called my business, See’s Automotive. She had ordered all 4 wheel bearings for her 2002 ford explorer off the Internet and wanted to know how much I would charge to install them. I told...

her 75 dollars per wheel, so she made an appointment. On September 8th 2016 she dropped off her explorer with the wheel bearings. I got her phone number so I could call her when we were finished. We put her vehicle on the hoist and the right rear wheel was ready to fall off, the bearing was so bad. The only bearing that was ok was the left front. After inspecting the bearings we noticed that the rear bearings had to be pressed in and out. I called the customer and told her that it would cost more since we had to take the spindles off and take them to a machine shop to have them pressed out and back in. I told her it would cost 300 dollars for rear bearings and I would do the right front for 50 dollars. She said go ahead and do it. My mechanic began to take both rear spindles off and he told me to come back and look at it before he took it apart. Somebody had put a piece of nail in both rear tie rod ends, I assume to tighten them up. The emergency brake was not hooked up also. He took the rear spindles off and took them along with the bearings to the machine shop. Two hours later he picked up the spindles. The machine shop showed him the right rear spindle was cracked and not safe for the new bearing. I called the customer and she said she would try to get a spindle. I told her I would try to find one also. I called all the part stores in town and nobody could get one. I called a salvage yard in [redacted] and they had a used spindle for 150 dollars. I told them to send it to me and they said it would be here the next day. I called the customer and told her that I found one for 150 dollars and she said good because she could not find one. She asked how much the total bill would be and I told her 300 dollars for rear bearings, 50 dollars for right front, and 150 dollars for spindle. We got the spindle the next day and put everything back together the way it was when we took it apart. The mechanic took the vehicle for a drive and I called the customer and told her it was done. She came and paid and picked up her vehicle and left. We done exactly what we were paid to do at the price I quoted. I do not feel we have done anything wrong and do not feel she is entitled to a refund.   Install rear bearings        300.00 Install right front bearing  50.00 Right rear spindle            150.00 Wv sales tax 6%                30.00                                         530.00 total Thank you Sincerely [redacted]
