Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/05/19) */
[redacted] purchased tile from Seestedts in February, 2015 and had it installed in March, 2015. The characteristics of the tile she purchased is rustic. It is not intended to be smooth. There will be some slight variations in levelness. There is...

nothing wrong with the tile. She is just not satisfied with the choice she made. She mentions that our installers are subcontractors. That is true. The installer is highly qualified and is very good. There were no sub-standard materials used on her job as she refers to.
She did have a valid complaint with regards to the oak trim installation. This was not done properly, and we understood her complaint. At this point, we actually sent one of our wood sub-contractors to [redacted]'s house to redo the trim. Once he was done, [redacted] stated that she was happy with his work. There was also a crack in a board in her floor that she says was caused by the tile installers. Although we don't know this to be a fact, we did not question it and also made a repair to the board in question. She indicates that the tile installers made a mess. Again, we are not sure of this, but gave her an adjustment to her invoice to compensate for any undue distress we may have caused her. We deducted $450 from the labor portion of her bill. We did offer to have the tile installer meet with her to discuss her concerns, but she refused. She approved payment of the balance of her invoice.
Yes, we were well aware of her initial dissatisfaction and took what we feel were the correct steps as detailed above. She states that she will need to have the tile taken out and replaced. That would be her choice due to the fact that she does not like the product she selected. Again, there is nothing wrong with the tile.
We strive to have satisfied customers. We have been in business a very long time, and customer satisfaction is very important to us. Over the past few years, we have done a number of jobs for [redacted] and, of course, would like her to be happy and satisfied. Unfortunately, we have nothing more to offer with regards to this complaint.

Thank you for notifying us and giving us the opportunity to respond.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2015/05/19) */
I received the response from Seestedts, and while I am taking this complaint to another agency, I feel at this time I am going to exercise my right to rebut their statements. First of all I never said I was dissatisfied with the tile I chose. I was dissatisfied with [redacted]'s workmanship. I have spoken to many PROFESSIONAL tilers, and all of them said the tile should be level. The salesperson who has now conveniently changed her story never told us this particular tile was not meant to be level. Did this also mean grout lines were to be inconsistent, or no grout at all. The damage to my floor was done by the contractor who admitted it to the salesperson, but wanted to silicon it, instead of having it fixed. So they insinuate that I cracked the tile right where he made a saw cut. When [redacted] was here he also did not say this tile is not meant to be level. His assistant made a mess, but I of course live in a filthy house so again they insinuate that I made a mess in my bathroom. The fact the assistant had rampant BO, was apparently because he has Crohn's disease.I question that! I have said several times I was dissatisfied with the workmanship, not the tile I chose. Seestedts has no proof that I was unhappy with my choice. They do however chose to lie, which is on their heads not mine. I did contact Angie's List, and they were unaware that sub-contractors were used. I also filed a complaint with a State Agency, which they will hear from shortly. They can go ahead, and tell their tall tales to them, and see were it gets them. I was a good customer, but never again. It's actions like this, that put long standing business's out of business. Incidentally I only asked for half of what it is going to cost me, they will soon find that out. Thanks to the salesperson who send me a card saying she was SO, SO sorry. Sorry for what? I declined speaking with the contractor, as he was clearly angry over a scathing e-mail from the salesperson. I felt uncomfortable dealing with him. I was promised three days of quality work, no one at Seestedts said that meant three hours one day, six the next day to rush through the tile work, and two hours the last day to semi grout. I checked on Accent Tile, and when a customer complained, he told them to get a different contractor. Is that way he does business. Lastly to the salesperson, sleep well tonight.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

RE: Case [redacted]
This is in response to your letter of May 20, 2015. As stated in my previous correspondence, Seestedts has nothing more to offer with regards to the above complaint. [redacted] refused to have [redacted], the tile installer, come back to her home to discuss her concerns. In fact, we had a scheduled appointment which she chose to cancel. We did offer her the 450 labor adjustment which she chose to accept. She was happy with and accepted the repair work that was done by one of our wood installers. There is really nothing further we can do for her especially since she is unwilling to allow the tile installer back into her house.
There are times when we have to realize that no matter what we do, it isn't going to be enough. This is one of those times. We do not feel there is any way that we can satisfy [redacted] at this point.
Thank you for the opportunity to respond.
