Senior Move Managers (NASMM). Our company offers a variety of move preparations and has enjoyed a positive relationship with clients and institutions who continue to recommend our services for downsizing and moving needsAssisting clients with organizing/downsizing involves an intrusion into the client’s status quo with an ultimate goal of living with less clutter and unrelated stuff. Our services are often requested when clients need to get their current setting ready for a sale or a move. Stress is added to this process when clients have accumulated items to the point of no longer being able to function safely in their own environment. Often these situations border on hoarding. They become more complicated if the client has become less mobile and unable to perform the physical tasks of packing and hauling items away. Additional stress is added if memory loss and fatigue slow down this processThe cost of the one-on-one sorting process is also a factor as indecisiveness in making judgments of what to keep and what to toss or sell can add hours of additional time to this processAll these factors were present in the work environment noted in this complaint. Segues worked with the client on different days over a month’s time span. Sessions were limited to hours with staff present for each session. Client could physically and emotionally maintain for hour segments that were requested in the afternoon as the mornings were difficult related to her sleep schedule. During the sessions, the job lead would sort directly with the client and the other staff would pack or bag items sorted for trash (which was directly deposited in a communal dumpster), donation or a potential auction option. The client was billed for the time spent dropping off donations, coordinating a large donation piwith a local ReSale Store and dealing with an auctioneer for a small buy-out of saleable itemsThe goal of each session was to clear an area with the client present and in control of making decisions about her things. During the four sessions, Segues was able to clear a path from the doorway through the living room and into the kitchen area. Segues also dealt with opening areas in the upstairs bedrooms and began work on the aisles of tubs and boxes in the basementSessions were scheduled by email as the client needed time between our visits to re-group. After the 4th session and an email to schedule additional work, client declined to accept another session stating that the cost of the sessions was prohibitiveAt this point, Segues had a local auctioneer look at the items that were saleable and the auctioneer offered a buy-out option paid to the client in cash. Tax receipts were provided from the respective donation placesWork was performed in May and June of 2013. Segues received this complaint on 3/20/2017, four years after work was performed
