I’m writing this letter to respond to the complaint by [redacted], [redacted] regarding Repair Issues. According to our records, on September 10, 2013, [redacted] called our office for a repair estimate and stated that he had some missing...

shingles (“Not too many.”) and he had leaking. We went out to his home on September 12, 2013 and met with [redacted]. From the ground, he showed me the area of roof with the problems and I went up on the roof. Immediately, I noticed that the roof was not installed properly, and I stated to him that this is the reason why he is having the roof leaks and shingles blowing off, and I recommended a new roof be installed vs. only a repair. I asked him who installed the roof? He stated, “It was my son.” And he told me that he just wanted an estimate for replacing the missing shingles. He then stated that he had shingles off on the garage also and wanted a separate estimate for replacing these missing shingles. On September 13, 2013, we mailed two separate estimates as he requested. One was for replacing missing shingles on house for $250.00 and one for $700.00 for replacing missing shingles on garage. On September 16, 2013, [redacted] called the office and said he was mailing back the proposals and wanted us to do the work as soon as possible. On September 19, 2013, the repairs were made accordingly. Upon finishing the repairs, [redacted] asked me if I could look at a small rubber roof over the back of the house because of leaking. After I looked this roof over, I stated that this roof was also not installed properly, but I told him I could repair the few areas where I could see obvious water entry. At this time, I did the repair as stated at NO CHARGE.On May 12, 2014, [redacted] called the office and stated he had four more shingles blow off. We went out and replaced those missing shingles and charged him our minimum service charge of $86.00, which he paid in full on July 7, 2014.On September 3, 2014, [redacted] called me for the first time and told me that the roof never stopped leaking after the repairs were made, and also said there were exposed nails all over the roof. I informed him that this is not the quality of workmanship that our company performs, and my repairs were not made to the entire roof. And the roof is leaking due to the way the roof was installed. I then asked him if I could come out to look at his concerns. He stated to me that he wanted to be there when I came; however, our schedules never allowed us to meet up, and I never heard from him further. On December 10, 2014, a woman called me and demanded our insurance information. I asked who I was speaking to, and she refused to give me her name but only said she was calling on behalf of [redacted]. I refused to give her my insurance information only on the basis of the lack of information from her as to what he was claiming. She then told me to call [redacted]. I then placed a call to [redacted] and asked him what was going on. He then stated, “My roof is leaking and he needs my insurance information.” I told him as I told him initially that his roof was leaking due to the improper way the roof was installed. He then stated, “Okay. I will call you back.” A short time later that day, [redacted] called and wanted my insurance information. I asked him what he was claiming we did. He said that we did not do the repair properly and put nails all over the roof. I told him once again that the roof is leaking due to the improper way the roof was installed, not the repairs I made, and the nails he is seeing are not from the repairs I made but from the people who initially installed it, and the leaks / shingle blow offs are only because the roof is not properly installed. Darren proceeded to tell me he has his own business and when things go wrong, he makes it right. I told him I agreed with him; I do the same thing. However, the fact of the matter is, I made it very clear to him and [redacted] that their problems are from the roof not being installed properly from the get go and BEFORE I did any repairs. I have been in business since 1996 and have been doing roofing professionally for 30 years. In my 18 years of owning my own business, I have never had a quality of workmanship complaint. If I performed my quality of work as [redacted] states, I would be certainly be out of business by now and not still going strong with no workmanship complaints for 18 years. In fact, we have an excellent reputation in our industry, and have very high standards in which we back our workmanship with a 10 year warranty – this exceeds the industry’s standard from 3 – 5 years. I also want it noted that I do not appreciate and take offense to [redacted] insinuation that I took advantage of an elderly person with a disability. This is totally a false accusation and is a defamation of my character! In fact, I spent more time than necessary, just talking with [redacted] at the time I initially went out for the estimate AND at the time of the repairs, as I do with all clients, regardless of their age and disability. I am an advocate for the elderly / disabled persons and am especially attentive to their needs and would NEVER take advantage of ANYONE, let alone an elderly or disabled person. As far as a solution to their problem of not having properly installed roofs being the sole cause of all their problems, I again recommend that all roofs be torn off and completely reinstalled properly. However, due to the defamation of my character in this complaint, I recommend them going to another company to have this done. I have done all I can do for this customer, and though I feel bad that they are continuing having problems, I believe in my professional expertise in this current situation, and it remains as stated. For your information and to further give an explanation of why this roof is improperly installed, this is why: When the roof was installed, the person installed the shingles by following the line painted on the shingles and this is intended to be the nail line; therefore, this makes the shingles installed ½” too high with little to no coverage at the top side of the shingles and is very prone to blow offs and leakage. Blow offs and leakage will continue with a roof installed this way. The only solution is to tear off the roof and reinstall it properly. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at [redacted]. I hope our response clarifies the accurate issue at hand and completely absolves our company from any wrongdoing.Sincerely,[redacted]Owner Seidl’s Services LLC

Review: Seidl's Services LLC Roofing was hired to repair a leaking roof caused by wind damage. The roofer put nails on the exterior part of the shingles all the way across the roof. There are over 53 exposed nails in the shingles. The nails chosen to do this were the same color of the roofing so was difficult to see the problem early on. The worst part of this is the owner of the home is an elderly gentleman with disability that do not allow him to climb a latter and see the work done. His son found the problem months later as the roof leaks were worse than ever. Seidl's Services LLC Roofing was called more than one time and denied they caused the problem. Seidl's Services LLC Roofing also Has denied the owner prof of insurance. They are unwilling to make a wrong right, unwilling to provide insurance information, and willing to take advantage of less fortunate.Desired Settlement: A refund of the money paid to Seidl's Services LLC Roofing would be the most desired outcome so the owner can put that money into a new roof to fix the damage done by Seidl's Services LLC Roofing. Mr [redacted] and his family do not trust Seidl's Services LLC Roofing to not take advantage of him again. WE DO NOT RECOMEND THIS COMPANY TO DO A JOB RIGHT OR FIX THEIR MISTAKES AND TAKE CARE OF THE COMPANY.
