I reached an actual PERSON when I called this business, who made an appointment for the next dayThe electrician was very nice and knowledgeable, quickly determined and fixed the problem, and gave suggestions for avoiding a repeat

Complaint: 9997185 I am rejecting this response because: It appears to be an outdated response. I received an email from Erin Malin on Friday, 4/4 at 10:06 am stating the following: I just received an email instructing me to let you know that we will put an enclosure over the panel that was installed by us last year. I will be ordering the panel cover today and expect it in the beginning of next week. Once received I will call you to set up a time for it to be installed. At this time, I would expect this to be completed no later than the end of next week. Our goal is to resolve this issue as quickly as possible so as soon as the part comes in, I will contact you. My response was as follows: That is encouraging news, and please understand that I must have a written statement from your company that the end result is in compliance with Code. As of this moment (4/7/14 9:30 am), I have not heard anything more from the company. Regards, [redacted]

Mr*** is correct we did replace his existing interior (with an enclosure over it) service panel on his mobile home with an indoor rated panel on the exterior of the home He is also correct that this is up to code and practice on mobile homes When he purchased the mobile
home, there was an interior panel on the exterior of his mobile home with an enclosure around it We simply replaced his "very old panel" The question that is at hand, is what happened to that enclosure in the last months I asked Mr*** to give me some time to review the situation with the electrical supervisor The electrical supervisor is out of town for days Mr*** demanded a decision on the spot and then by the end of the work day.
Not once have I denied responsibility nor has Select Electric taken responsibility for this issue Select Electric is a reputable company that has been in business for over years We pride ourselves on our top notch customer service and having the best electricians around Most of our electricians and staff have been with us for over years We are a small business that strives to stay competitive in today's market In order to be one of the best in our field and to survive in this industry, we couldn't do so, if we didn't take responsibility for our errors This is not a case of not owning a problem, it is a case of a customer that is placing unreasonable demands
This situation was brought to my attention on Wednesday 4/2/ At that time, I asked him to wait until Monday morning for a decision As mentioned earlier, he was unwilling to wait As it so happens, the electrical supervisor called into the office late yesterday, Thursday 4/3/ I apprised him of the situation Subsequently, I emailed him all documents At this time, Friday 4/4/a.m., I am awaiting further input from him Once received, I will inform Mr*** of our position and further action, if applicable

At the time the response was written that is where the situation stood At this time we have chosen to put an enclosure over the panel rather than argue that the enclosure was removed after the fact The enclosure should be completed by week's end, Friday 4/11/

[redacted] is an awesome electrician. Honest and good at what he does. And a very sweet and nice person. I highly recommend select electric.

Review: In May 2013, we paid over $2,600 for work which included replacing a very old circuit panel on the outside of our house. Eleven months later, it was discovered they installed an INDOOR RATED load center. After I contacted them, they sent someone to look at the panel and concluded that an enclosure over the panel had been installed and removed. That claim was based on markings visible on the wall. I insisted that no such enclosure was ever installed over the panel. When I told [redacted], the business owner, that I needed the issue resolved immediately, she suggested I go hire someone to build and install an enclosure over the panel myself! She then told me she would refer the matter to her electrical supervisor who happened to be out of the office and could not be reached until the following Monday. I told her that waiting until the following week was unacceptable for 2 reasons: (1) it had been raining recently, with more rain in the forecast, and (2) the deadline for our buyer to pull out of the deal to buy our house was this week. I provided her before and after pictures of the old and new panels and surrounding area. It was plain to see that the markings that she claimed to be evidence of a previously installed enclosure were, in fact, the markings of where the old panel was attached to the wall. Plus, there was no way the markings were sufficient to have secured a water-tight enclosure over the entire dimensions of the new (and significantly larger) panel. But she held fast to her opinion that they put an interior panel on the exterior of a home with an enclosure over it. Per the inspector, this is up to code.Neither the original work proposal provided by the electrician, nor the invoice given to us after he performed the work mentioned anything about installing an indoor-rated load center with a waterproof enclosure over it.Bottom-line: With time of the essence, Select Electric failed to step up, take responsibility, and fix the problem.Desired Settlement: IMMEDIATELY replace the indoor rated panel with the expected exterior rated panel.Otherwise, reimburse me for costs to fix their mistake.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] is correct we did replace his existing interior (with an enclosure over it) service panel on his mobile home with an indoor rated panel on the exterior of the home. He is also correct that this is up to code and normal practice on mobile homes. When he purchased the mobile home, there was an interior panel on the exterior of his mobile home with an enclosure around it. We simply replaced his "very old panel". The question that is at hand, is what happened to that enclosure in the last 11 months. I asked Mr. [redacted] to give me some time to review the situation with the electrical supervisor. The electrical supervisor is out of town for 3 days. Mr. [redacted] demanded a decision on the spot and then by the end of the work day.
