Dear Ms. [redacted]:
Please allow this correspondence to serve as a response to the complaint filed by...

the above referenced complainant with the Revdex.com, received by Selective on April 15, 2015. On September 5, 2014, Ms. [redacted] called our service center requesting to add a 2014 Toyota to her policy and indicated that this vehicle would be registered in her daughter’s name. The underwriter explained that since the vehicle would be registered to someone other than herself, the vehicle could not be added to her policy. Ms. [redacted] then requested a new policy quote be produced for the 2014 Toyota registered in her daughter’s name. The underwriter obliged with a quote and emailed the application for automobile insurance to [redacted].
During the quote process, the underwriter discovered that the insured’s daughter had been licensed to drive since 08/14/2013 and was a resident of Ms. [redacted]’s household. However, it was never disclosed to Selective that Ms. [redacted]’s daughter had been a licensed driver and resident of the household. Selective requires that all residents of the insured’s household, in possession of a valid driver’s license be identified and appropriately charged, unless they themselves have their own vehicle and personal automobile insurance. The reason for this is because the personal automobile policy not only provides coverage when an insured individual is operating the policy vehicle(s), but it also may provide coverage when operating vehicles owned by others or as a passenger or pedestrian involved in a motor vehicle loss. This coverage also applies to other licensed residents in the household, thus adding exposure to the policy.

Selective underwrites and develops premium based upon driver information, driving history and vehicle information; thus, Ms. [redacted]’s daughter was added to the policy as of the date she became a licensed driver, 08/14/2013, and for subsequent terms.
The past due amount is a result of Ms. [redacted]’s daughter being added as a resident licensed driver of the household.
Please feel free to contact me at ###-###-#### if you need any further information or documentation. Thank you.

Dear Ms. [redacted]I am writing this letter to voice my disagreement with the statement provided by Selective. I am frustrated with their run around and denying my right to get my refund. As I mentioned to you in the previous letter in the policy that I signed with Selective had no mention of disclosing all individuals living in the household with driver's license. The other issue I also have is there is no mention in the policy that I have stating back billing policy holders fora policy that had already expired. If this issue continues to be unsolved, I will be seeking legal advice and Selective will responsible to pay any fees that I Incur,This has been an ongoing issue this September 17th, 20113. Review: I was with Selective Insurance for 8 years for auto insurance. I still have a contract with them for home insurance. For my auto insurance covered July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, I paid fully in advance June 19, 2014. Within two months, I switch to another auto insurance company. September 15, 2014 I fill out a form requesting for the balance of the unused premium. Incontrary I am receiving an invoice and collection notice for $420 that I do not owe. During that year, I have not had any accident, speeding tickets and no claims at all. When I called Selective, they refuse to refund the money. The response from Selective's agent was, "I don't know why. You have another person in your household that is driving." I am not getting a straight answer and have been given the run around.Desired Settlement: I would like may refund of (approximately) $700 back and stop the collection process.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Re: ID #[redacted] Dear [redacted]:This letter is in response to the statement made by selective's representative about my refund claim. I totally disagree with their statement about disclosing the names of individuals living under the same residence that are in possession of a driver's license to be added in to my policy as a second driver. There is no mention of this in my auto policy agreementI do not understand why Selective is back billing for a policy that ended 6/30/2014 when that policy is no longer effective. I am requesting from selective to show me the clause in the agreement stating that there will back billing after a policy is already expired. The last policy I got from Selective was from 07/01/2014 to 06/30/2015.I paid in advance a premium of $878 to cover one year auto policy. I cancelled that policy on 09/14/2014 and I should've gotten a refund of $695.07 from Selective Insurance. Since the day I cancelled the policy, they are still withholding my refund that I am entitled to. They are harassing me by sending me bills and phones call and even sending my information to a collection agency.I am requesting to get a full refund and to clear my name. I will be more than happy to send Revdex.com a copy of the policy I have.Best Regards,[redacted]
