[redacted] rented unit [redacted] on 11/**/14. Unit [redacted] is a 5x10 size storage space (50 square feet). [redacted] secured the unit with a lock that he purchased off site. He did not give us a key to...

his lock. [redacted] vacated his unit on 7/*/15 by his own means (he did not hire a moving service) When he vacated the space and reached home he claims to have noticed that 110 boxes out of 163 were missing. He did not notice that the 110 boxes were missing when he opened his unit to vacate on 7/*/15 which is quite surprising given the minute size of his storage space. He also said that his lock was not tampered with and worked just fine. We find it impossible for [redacted] to not notice 110 boxes missing when he opened his unit. The only way this theft could have occurred is if he gave his key to somebody. [redacted] says that he keys were not given to anybody else. Considering all of this Secure Self Storage denied his $3600 claim for theft .

First of all, we where missing 53 boxes not what they are saying. some of the boxes where small, and some where flat, like doors for the cabinets. We where, rushing because  we had rented a truck for 3 hours and it was getting late. When we told them about the missing boxes, they did not care.  and it seen that they knew the boxes where missing. They said just file the insurance claim. and when we said that we where calling the police, they said that there was no need to call the police to investigate, just for the insurance claim.when the police arrived, they said the only need the report for the insurance claim, not to investigate the theft. the officers said that they will investigate. their attitude had change. they look upset. (  what we did not know is that the insurance company that was charging the premium every months is the same co.) not an independent insurance company, like any other business.

Review: we rented a unit No. [redacted] since 11-**-2014 , we where advise to purchase insurance from them in the amount of $ 3,000 .00 being that we were storing a complete brand new kitchen and some appliances, there were 163 boxes,

When we pick up our merchandise, on 7-*-2015 there only 110 boxes. we realized these as soon as we got home,we went back to talk to the employee, and he was about to close. he said to return the next day. we did and got the police to file a report. there was no damage to the lock and no visible damage to the unit. so according to them that is the reason no to pay us the claim. that total an amount of $ 3596.00 we had to return the existing furniture, because the style was discontinue, and buy a new kitchen. we have proof of everything.Desired Settlement: we want the total amount that we lost. and explanation of how can 53 boxes disappear without visible damage to the front of the room or damage to the lock. we realize after the unit was empty that the interior walls could be remove from another units next to it.

Review: I rented a storage unit from Secure Self Storage-Zerega for the past 2 years. I have always gotten increase once a year. This year (2016) I was sent a notice in the latter part of January 2016 that my storage fee would be increasing by $36.00 dollars. That I find is a drastic jump to the past increases I have gotten in the past. I would get around a $10.00 dollar increase in a year. I contacted this business through e mail 2 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back. When I ask for the business home office their assistant mgr ( Uri ) states there is no contact number for their main office I have to e mail them at a website listed online.Desired Settlement: I want the $36.00 dollar increase to be lowered because I cannot afford that. I am already paying $250.00 for my unit.
