Selig Construction Corporation Reviews (9)

In May of 2016 I had vinyl siding placed on my house .In March of 2017 we noticed ripples in the siding on west side of house I called Selig they sent someone out to look at siding he wasn't sure what to do he took some pictures and left. I called several times to find out what they were going to do.A month or so later I get a cal and was asked what the siding looked liked I told him he had pictures well they couldn't find them and would be out in a weak or so to take more. In about July or August they came and looked at the siding again took more pictures and sais they could probably replace it in Nov. I waited for them to let me know left several messages no return call. When I was called I was told to call certain greed to place a claim I thought I was working with Seligman not another company I filled out the claim form had to get information from Seligman because a lot of the information they I don't know and shouldn't have to know I sent pictures they sent a letter back they wanted a piece of the siding so I call Selig so they could get me a piece of siding . It cost me 97 dollars to mail the siding and I made sure they had to sign for it I got another letter from certain teed saying if they didn't get the information requested they would drop the case in 2 weeks. I called certain teed to ask if they got the piece of siding they said no I Sid well that's odd so&so signed for it at 1120 am he then states oh here it is they sent me to someone else who states it would a couple of weeks before anyone would even look at it. So 2 weeks later no one had looked at it maybe next week so I called the following Thursday and he tells me they need to send a man out to make a decision on weather they would pay or not .in May 2017 he comes and inspects siding and would send report in.On June 22 I get a letter from certain teed saying they would pay 1595 for material and labor the check was sent to me and I don't know when work will be done they state at least 2 months A contractor you selig hire will do the labor and I have no extra money if he charges more.I feel this all should have been done through you I hired you not certain teed or any contractor I also had Windows done by you. It looks like when you finish the job it's screw you I will not recommended you to anyone I have a life time warrnity and I expect you to honor it

Review: On 07/31/15 I was presented with plans for a Selig step-in bath wrap by [redacted], marketing director for Selig construction, in the presence of my mother [redacted] age 94 and my nephew [redacted].

We elected to have the step-in tub instead of the walk-in because of the price. The price quoted for this 2 day job was $4980. The supplies and materials would come from a "distributor". The planned install date was 08/17/15.

On Friday 08/14/15 O called the Selig Redding Office and talked to [redacted] to see if we could just get the faucet and that we wished to try a bench seat in the tub. We tried this and [redacted] could swing her legs around. I was told no, that we could not change the plans, that all of the materials had been ordered by the distributor. We would have to proceed on the day planned, 08/17/15.

On Tuesday, 08/18/15, I got a call from one of the two workmen and he said that they would be a little late because they had to pick up a few things at [redacted] and a couple of other places. They then started work at 10:30 a.m.

At 5 o'clock, they were done. SIX AND ONE HALF HOURS OF WORK. I was shocked. This job was supposed to take two days.

The three of us looked at the final job. There was no wooden bench seat attached to the far end of the tub. We had a tub transfer bench which stuck out of the tub.

A few things did not feel right; I refused to pay the bill. I then called Selig and talked to [redacted] about getting a breakdown of the costs. He assured me they did not use a such a place as [redacted] for materials, but had a "distributor." He then informed me that .......

Selig had to make a 10% PROFIT!!!

I explained that the transfer bench was not the same as a wooden bench attached to the end of the tub. One of the grab bars was put on the right side of the tub; it should be on the left because the left side is closer to the step-in.

On 08/21/15, [redacted] from Redding office came to my house with a breakdown of the costs and to collect $4580 (400 had been paid down). Again, I was SHOCKED at this pricing breakdown. It did not include anything that I had asked for. I discussed with [redacted] the fact that this job did not take two days. I asked him again for the material model numbers, costs, wages, and profit breakdown. He said he could not do that, that the company had to pay for workers insurance, taxes etc.

[redacted] then called [redacted] and I talked to [redacted]. He then said that he would have to place a Mechanics Lien against my property if I did not pay. He offered to pay me $100 for the bench change, then offered me $200 for the bench change.Desired Settlement: I turned this offer down I was so mad. I told him no, he needed the money more ofr his own pay and his company's pay.

I paid [redacted] with a check for $4580. I was thoroughly disgusted, upset and angry.

We have since made a couple of minor changes, getting my mother a smaller sitting bench for inside the tub which works better than the transfer bench.

On 08/22/15 I went to [redacted] and found almost ALL of the materials used on our job. I have included them below.

Response:

It is unfortunate that Ms. [redacted] is unhappy with the amount she paid for her bathroom project. Ms. [redacted] states that she can purchase all components we used at [redacted] which is not the case. We do purchase some materials such as 2x4 2x6" blocking, fasteners, cleaning products, etc. from [redacted] on the way to jobs, however, the acrylic shower surround, corner caddies, tub cut thru, fixtures, specialty colored sealants, etc. are all purchased from [redacted] with a warranty. We have received our installation certificate from [redacted] in order to purchase and offer their products. We carry contractors' license, workers' comp ins., liability ins., business licenses, etc. to be a legally legitimate contractor that carries a warranty. We cannot compete with bids from unlicensed handymen that purchase the cheapest materials they can find from [redacted].Our workers install these products daily and are very efficient and good at what they do. Because of this, we were able to smoothly complete this project sooner than what was expected (this is not always the case as some projects take longer than expected). As Ms. [redacted] stated, her mother [redacted], nephew [redacted], and herself were all present and agreed upon our proposal to order and proceed with the project. Selig Construction takes great pride in offering exceptional products and service. We have offered a discount of $200 (the cost of the shower bench) as we were not able to install a wall mounted seat that could be safely used due to the style of the existing tub. That offer still stands, and we would be happy to add or relocate any grab bars if they have changed their mind on location.

Response:

Thank you for your attention to my report regarding Selig Construction Corporation. I stand by the information that I have provided.I have returned the shower bench to Home Depot for a credit of $96.00. I had to get a smaller style so the shower curtain could close; not interested in their offer of a $200 discount for the $96 shower bench. What I came up with was $1500, or 30% for materials and $3480, or 70% to cover license, workers comp insurance, business licenses, and of course paychecks. I will not be doing any business with them any time soon or ever.Thank you,[redacted]

Review: This company took advantage of my 81year old mother who has been diagnosed with vascular dementia by selling her a ridiculously expensive tub that she does not have the means to pay as she is on SSI. They sold her a one year interest free loan and had her sign a contract she didn't understand.I am her POA and did not learn of this transaction until after it was installed on the 1st upon getting home fr work. Contract date 6/26/13 and shower was torn out and tub installed 7/01. My brother happened to be there on the 1st when they showed up for install. He tried to call to cancel but was told we would be responsible for $2k if we cancel. He called to ask me if I knew about this when I got home fr work, of which I knew nothing. As I am now out of work, I am trying to get some resolution to this matter. The tub has had to have several svc calls with one having to do with the electrical part of the install. When Selig was called, they could not send out an electrician at that time and were told to get an electrician to come in and figure out the problem and send them the bill. The only electrician that would agree to come out and bill the Co, didn't do something right as he blew the motherboard on her dishwasher. They also sent loan papers including the $2k discount that they were giving her for purchasing that day. My mother's name/address: [redacted] Way, [redacted], CA [redacted]. I do not understand how she even qualified for the loan!

This is our response to the complaint for "Case ID" [redacted]

Review: A phone number associated with Selig Construction has been calling us every day for almost two months now. We only answer phone calls that we recognize from our caller ID, so we do not pick up their calls; they never leave a message. Sometimes they call multiple times per day. We have also filed a complaint with the FCC. Our number is on the National Do Not Call registry, and we have no business relationship with this company. This is harassment.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop calling me!!!! I want them to take my phone number off their telemarketing list.

Review: Selig Construction, 337 Huss Lane, Chico,CA 95928, has been calling me for estimates on replacing my windows or upgrade in my home. I politely informed them that I am on a "No Call List" and to take me off their calling list. They have been calling me on and off roughly for 5 years. Why don't they honor my request? What can I do......maybe I need to take a trip to Chico and confront the manager of the office personally. Can you do me a favor and contact that office to see if you can do any better.Thank You.....[redacted]'Desired Settlement: Please call them and tell them to not call me!

Review: Selig installed vinyl siding on my house in 2006. On one side of the house, the siding started to "bubble" up. The siding on that side has been replaced three times throughout the years. During that time, the back side also started to bulge and buckle off in some areas which was "fixed" by putting a screw into the siding.

In 2013, I complained to [redacted] again about the bubbling. He told me to contact the manufacturer. They required pictures and a piece of the siding which I did not feel comfortable in removing due to warranty issues. On 7/22/14, I called [redacted] and asked him for help with this issue. He said he would refer me to [redacted](?) who would contact me. [redacted] commented that when he saw the siding he "was not really concerned" and "it doesn't look so bad." I never heard from [redacted] and contacted Selig on 7/28 and asked for [redacted]' supervisor. I left a msg. with [redacted] about the issues. [redacted] called back on 7/29, he will contact manufacturer who will then get in contact with me. [redacted] called back the same day saying that he will come up with a solution together with [redacted]'s local representative. I never heard from him again so I called on 11/3/14 and left a msg. to call me back with a time and date when they plan to fix the wall and that by now the back side was bulging, too. On 11/6 I was told [redacted] will contact me. I called on 11/13 haven't heard from [redacted]. Selig will put paper in mail to contact manufacturer. Representative of [redacted] came out. Sent letter to me on 12/11 stating that it is workmanship not material. Faxed letter to Selig on 1/30/15. Called 2/17/15 since I haven't heard from Selig. They called 2/18 they are in contact with [redacted]d. Since then I have called several times, leaving many messages asking to speak to the owner, etc. In May, I was told that materials should be in next week and they will come out to fix it. Never heard from them again. I called in September, [redacted] states they will come out the end of September to fix it. Now it is January 2016!!!Desired Settlement: I want front and back siding of the right side of the house replaced by following [redacted]'s concerns and solutions and not just replace materials and use same nail holes and insufficient locking of panels. It is very obvious even to a nonprofessional like myself that the siding has not been installed correctly.

Business

Response:

We have purchased all materials needed to replace the siding on the 2 walls in question. We have a certified [redacted] technician set to complete the work. He will be taking pictures throughout all phases of the work to document that everything is done exactly to [redacted]'s specifications. He will be available in approx. 2 weeks from now. The repair in question will take 1-1 1/2 days and will be completed by the end of January. We will contact Ms. [redacted] with an exact date as soon as we know from the technician that he is available. As stated, in approx. 2 weeks and completed by the end of this month.

Thank you so much Revdex.com for getting this resolved. I would have thought that Selig could have contacted me to keep me updated then my complaint could have been avoided. Too bad.
