Selma's Hair Expression Reviews (1)

On August 24, 2014, I had my daughter hair braided at Selma's Hair Expression by [redacted]. My daughter hair was braided in the Singalese Twist and Ms.[redacted] was paid $100.00 for this service. Later that day my daughter's braids started to come a loose. I immediately made contact with Ms.[redacted], and explained my problem to her. She indicated that she had left the salon and would not return until the next day. I called her on Tuesday, which was August 26, 2014, and made arrangements for my daughter to go back for repairs. Upon return to thee salon Ms. [redacted] made some repairs to her hair, however she did not fix the situation, because more braids continued to fall out. Keep in mind this was only one to two days after the braiding. My sister, [redacted], who recommended to Ms. [redacted], call the owner of the salon and she indicated that she would take my daughter's hair a loose and give back the $100.00, Since very displease with the services that we received. However, she never made contact with my after the last conversation with my sister.Desired SettlementSince the owner of the Salon indicated that she would refund the $100.00 cash back and take my daughter's hair a loose. I would like for her to refund my $100.00 back. My daughter's hair has been take a loose within a 12 day period. Business Response Re: Revdex.comCase: [redacted]To Whom It May Concern:On August 24th I received a phone call from [redacted] requesting a braid appointment for [redacted]. There was a brief discussion about the price Mrs. [redacted] asked me how much I charged for my services and I explained that the price would be $100 dollars. She proceeds to inform me that she would like to pay $60 I again explain to her that the price is $100. She then asks if she can pay me $50 on the day of the service and another $50 the next Saturday of the following week. I told Mrs. [redacted] that the full price of $100 would be due on the day of the appointment, I also further explained that I would be putting myself at risk by allowing her to only pay half for the service in case she decided not to pay. Mrs. [redacted] agreed and booked the appointment for [redacted]. On the day of the appointment August 25th[redacted] arrived at the salon with her mother. I installed the braids. [redacted] and her mother appeared to be very pleased with my work and they also commented on the workmanship. Later on that day I received a text from [redacted] informing me that a few of her braids were unraveling. I asked [redacted] to come back to the salon the next day so that I could repair them. [redacted] never came to that appointment on August 25th. [redacted] called me on Tuesday August 26th requesting another appointment time for repairing her braids I told her she could come in the following day on August 28th . There were two braids that were unraveling so I fixed those. Her mother picked her up from that appointment and then [redacted]'s mother explained that she still wasn't satisfied. I then informed her that I had another client and asked her to come back on day when I didn't have other clients scheduled. The next day [redacted]'s mother called the owner of the salon and requested a refund she explained that they wanted someone else to do [redacted]'s hair and they needed their money back in order to pay the other stylist. The owner asked that [redacted] return to the salon so that the braids could be removed and then she would receive her full refund even though the salon had a "No Refund" Policy. They explained that they would take them out themselves but the owner again explained that a full refund would not be given until the braids were removed. At this point [redacted]'s mother became irate and told the owner of the salon that she was going to "Drag the salon's name through the mud if I do not get a refund". The owner again explained the salon policy and [redacted]'s mother hung up the phone. I tried to resolve this issue on the first day that I was notified. They weren't pleased that they would not be able to keep the braids and still receive a full refund. I suspect that their intent was to never pay the full price of the service in the beginning. At my salon we strive to accommodate each client, regretfully we weren't able to do that with this particular client. We have a strict "no refund" policy and unfortunately even though we were willing to disregard that policy for this client she still wasn't satisfied with the terms. Consumer Response Yes, I ([redacted]), did call and made the appointment for [redacted]. My eleven, years old daughter has been a client with [redacted] and then to [redacted] for approximately 2 and 1/2 years. I have never had any problems until this appointment. Yes, I did ask [redacted] to let [redacted] give $60.00 and I could not get to Durham and I would give her the remaining $40.00. With the long client and service provider relationship, I never thought things would end up in this manner. I always paid my bill for m service and gave tips. I was the one who called [redacted], because she is the owner of the Salon. [redacted], was the one that suggested since we were not happy with the braids falling out. [redacted], indicated that she would take [redacted]'s hair out and refund the $100.00. Ten minutes later [redacted] changed her mind and then directed me to talk with her daughter [redacted]. We did not $100.00 back if the service would have been up to standards. [redacted]'s braids were coming out at school and this was embarrassing. Just as [redacted] states that [redacted] should not get a service and her money, we feel that [redacted]'s salon should not keep the $100.00 for a service that only lasted for a week and few days. I tried my best to resolved this issue without it leaving the salon. I had no argument it either service providers. They both know that I am not a dis-honest person, always paid for my services of my daughter. It is very insulting to read a response that there was a plot to get my niece's hair done at no cost. This is vey untrue and unfair. I still believe that [redacted]'s Hair salon owes $100.00 for not providing a service that last only week and an a few days. Their was no other stylist in the equation that is the reason why I called [redacted]. [redacted] indicated that she could do the hair style and she did, but it did not stay together. Please [redacted] and [redacted] just be honest!!
