Senior Helpers

I am a 90 year old caregiver to a 96 year old Veteran , I have done this work for almost a lifetime, I have a thing for Veterans who liberated me from Nazis.
I fell and broke my arm while walking in the dark in my back yard on March 2d in the evening...however I still managed to bathe my handicapped patient then drove myself to emergency with my good arm. Two hours later I was back home to make sure my patient was safe for the night.
Eight days later, with arm still in a cast I walked my dog for our usual mile around my neighborhood as I do every morning while my patient is asleep.
Perhaps from lack of sleep but most surely being dehydrated, I fainted...wonderful strangers called 911 and next thing I knew I was in the College Station hospital being well looked after. My daughter was called, she notified my patient's daughters and the ball rolled as it should.
Three days in hospital confirmed that I had to drink more water and I was free to get back home.
My patient and good friend, retired Major John L, had been looked after. His daughters, all very efficient doctors had immediately hired a Senior Helper. I appreciated the decision very much and settled down to help said temporary worker in whatever capacity while she watched TV. I checked on patient every few minutes, emptied urinal, straightened bedding, etc...
When night came I re-leaved worker by sending her home free time for her...I was here anyway...I bathed my patient myself as usual and got him ready for night.
In the course of the second day, same TV watching but she did look after our patient with a minimal effort as obviously her job was to be done.
I cooked myself 2 eggs, ate some left over veggies and rice, drank my coffee and PLENTY OF WATER :) then left my dishes in the sink.
At night I noticed that my few dishes had been left unwashed in the sink. When I asked why they had not been washed with the few others, I was told that it was not HER job, that she was not here to look after ME...well let me tell you that I immediately asked the worker to leave my house, yes, my very own old house, and told the lady she was no longer welcomed here and she was not very smart. She assured me she was VERY smart and left in a huff.
I then went on to bathe my patient, did his toe nails, gave him a leg massage, then put him in bed.
Emergency workers like this, nobody wants, trust me. If they do not hold a little bit of human charity instinct, they should get another job.
BTW she is an African American as arrogant as hell, but my thing is: I have friends of all colors, I fought for their advancement in the MLK programs. I got recognition from government for my work with the struggling minorities. I too have rights, my ancestors were called serfs. Thank you.

If you want to hire a "Helper" from this company, you might like to hear what I have to say. They obviously hire their workers from the street without checking their real human qualities. Thank you. geny heywood
