Sentinel Real Estate Corp. Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:At this time, I have not been contacted by Sentinel Real Estate Corp. regarding complaint ID [redacted].  I called the [redacted] last week and left a voicemail for her.  She's yet to address it and the property's front office has yet to contact me directly....

I will be contacting the corporate office this morning and providing them with the complaint number and asking about a reply to that case.  Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: While I was living at [redacted] in [redacted], I was illegally locked out of my house, illegally forced out of my contract, had a firearm stolen by management, had property stolen by management, and now they have sent my account to collections totalling $2706. They have not provided itemized billing or an explanation of the charges. I have disputed the items on all three credit bureaus and they have not validated the account in over 60 days. They violated Austin, Texas tenant laws. They violated Federal and State laws and then have the audacity to put this on my credit report without warning or explanation. I have tried to contact them several times and never get a call back. I have sent letters and never get a response.Desired Settlement: I want the account (which is in the hands of Fair Collections and Outsourcing) to be removed from TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax along with any indication of negative points. I want my security deposit back to cover property loss and time homeless.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Sentinel Real Estate Corp. regarding complaint ID [redacted]. However, the company, the collection agency assigned to the debt has withdrawn the collection account and removed it from my credit report. I feel that I am still owed my security deposit from the apartment complex and would still like to be contacted by Sentinel Real Estate.

Sincerely,

Review: On Friday, March [redacted], I moved into the [redacted] apartment community in [redacted] hoping to get a fresh start after a crazy relationship that ended in a bitter breakup. My new apartment was supposed to signify the next chapter of my life; however, after dealing with the property’s manager, assistant manager and regional manager, I would rather get back with my ex.

The shady business dealings were initiated during the application process when they refused to fully complete my residency verification/history in an obvious attempt to boost my security deposit. It wasn’t until I contacted the regional manager that they re-examined this process. The success of that resulted in a lowered security deposit. I was hopeful that this would be my only issue with the front office but I was sadly mistaken.

My unit was ready 03/** per [redacted] (the leasing consultant who leased me the unit). I chose to move in 3 days later. Upon arriving and completing my move-in inspection Friday, March [redacted], I was surprised to see the number of issues with the carpet. There were minor stains here, a few paint specks there and in the doorway and the area where the kitchen ends and the carpet begins, there were obvious discolorations/stains that were clearly caused by a decent amount of traffic. To be clear, it’s not a category 5 stain BUT it’s still noticeable and it adds a raggedy, cheap value to not only the carpet, but also to the apartment as a whole. I noted my concerns on the inspection form and immediately asked the leasing consultant ([redacted]) who accompanied me on the inspection what would be done to correct the issue. She said she’d talk with management and let me know. I wasn’t home much of the day Saturday… Fast forward to Sunday, I was able to really see the carpet in a better set of lighting. It was abundantly obvious that my carpet had noticeable stains/discoloration. I took pictures and sent those to the leasing office asking that they advise as soon as possible. I spoke with the property manager [redacted] regarding my concerns Monday and she said she’d check with the vendors and keep me updated on when they could re-clean my carpet. Keep in mind, per [redacted] this would be their third attempt to remedy this stain. It was clear to me that my carpet would not be cleaned to my satisfaction because after two cleanings, there’s not much hope.

I asked to meet with [redacted] on the same Monday that she referenced having the carpet cleaned (03/**). She met me at my apartment along with [redacted], the assistant property manager. This is where things took a turn for the worst. Both of these ladies attempted to insult my intelligence by making me think that there was ultimately nothing wrong with my carpet. They explained that ‘even though there’s a stain there, it’s still clean...’ They literally said this. [redacted], the property manager, berated me by saying that if my apartment was in unacceptable condition, I should not have taken possession until it met my standards. That’s a bit hard to do when you’ve rented a truck and taken the day off to complete your move. In addition to that, I once worked in property management and NO UNIT IS MADE READY without someone inspecting it and signing off on it. So when [redacted] told me that I shouldn’t have signed off on the apartment’s inspection form, I told her that no one should have signed off saying the unit was ready to be leased.

It was clear that [redacted] brought [redacted] with her in a failed attempt to fast-talk me. I think it surprised them both when it didn’t work. [redacted] stated that “the good thing is that you have noted the issues on the inspection form so when you move out, you won’t be charged for those items.” I made it clear that I wasn’t worried about 12 months from now – Im’ more concerned about day 4 out of 365 days. It’s on this 4th day that you have the audacity to stand in my apartment and tell me to pretty much deal with it. [redacted] made it clear that she would attempt to have it cleaned but in the event that the stain wasn’t removed, I might have to look at it for the next 12 months. This meeting offered no help so we agreed to disagree and said I’d speak with them further at another time.

I called the regional manager 03/** and gave her a run-down regarding what happened. The next day (03/**) [redacted] called me and let me know that [redacted] (the regional manager) would be in town and she would go take a look at my unit. A few hours later, [redacted] called me and said that she didn’t see a stain at all. To quote her exactly “I only see some discolorations in the area that you mentioned but I can let you know now that I won’t be replacing the carpet. I will only have it cleaned.”

This is where all he** broke lose. This lady is the regional manager and she’s calling me with the nastiest attitude and telling me that I have a problem with my vision. Keep in mind, [redacted], the property manager, already confirmed that there’s a stain but I guess [redacted] conveniently can’t see that. She made it clear that I wasn’t guaranteed a brand new carpet. I advised her that I wasn’t asking for a brand new carpet; I simply wanted one that was clean and stain free.

Now I really need the Revdex.com’s assistance. I am paying $925 for my new apartment and I’m basically being told to suck it up, cover it up and move on as it relates to my carpet stains. I want to make it clear that I don’t have a huge blood stain in my carpet but the stains that are there are very noticeable and you can either see a little or lot depending on the lighting. I want to also note that I actually really like my apartment (from the location to the comfort level). But this experience has left the most sour taste in my mouth and it’s only day 5 of occupying my new apartment. I’m simply asking them to do what’s right? None of them would accept a carpet in that condition. I don’t care if 90% of the carpet is stain-free. It’s that remaining 10% that completely devalues the apartment. Please help!Desired Settlement: I ultimately want the stains removed. If that can't be done without removing the carpet and (in the event, that that's not an option), I would appreciate monthly rental concessions until the issue is resolved.

Review: Wanted to lease a two bedroom apartment at [redacted] at Twin Creeks in Allen TX, a property managed by Sentinel. At the time we wrote a check for $100.00 to hold a two bedroom , the current tenant of the apartment we were told was being held for us walked in and asked if they could stay and that someone said they had more time. We left that day with a little concerned if the apartment was really being held for us. The following day we were called and offered a three bedroom which we did not want, but felt pressured to take because we were in the process of a very time-sensitive closing on the sale of our house. We decided due to the lack of confidence that developed from the way [redacted] Handled the issue we had to push the closing on our house back 10 days and lease an apartment elsewhere.Desired Settlement: Refund $100.00 hold fee.
