My bank made electronic over-payments in condo HOA fees totaling $1863.10 to Sentry mgmt company due to the accidental issuance of double electronic bank payments from my account to Sentry Management. Although the book keeper at Sentry acknowledges and agrees there was an $1863.10 over-payment made that began in Feb and lasted through June they are not refunding me the money they owe me. Instead, the book keeper told me on July 13th during my initial call to her that she could not refund me the money that was overpaid and instead advised me to " just stop paying the condo fees until it all evens out in 6 months or so". I indicated that I was not comfortable with that plan and requested a proper refund. The book keeper said she'd look into it, however she never contacted me again and has not replied to any of my emails, voice mails or status update requests.
Since my initial conversation with them on July 13th, I have called, left messages and emailed them on June 16th and June 27th without any reply back. I called again in the beginning of August and spoke to a customer service rep who was helpful and indicated that there was clearly an over-payment in the amount of $1863.10 and couldn't understand why the company would not refund me. He said he'd send it over to accounting again and that I should expect a check in a few days or a phone call, however it's been two weeks since that particular conversation and I have not received the check nor any updates. I am concerned because this company owes me money and are neither repaying me nor communicating with me about this issue. I feel like they are either trying to dodge me and get our of repaying the money they owe or they are incompetent. Either way, I have the ledger that proves there were two payments being made since the beginning of the year as well as bank statements. I would just like a refund for the money they owe me.
A refund has been processed in the amount requested.
I spoke with Ms. Gordon on 10/7/2020. She confirmed receipt of the refund and has agreed that the complaint is resolved. I kindly requested that she notify the Revdex.com that the claim is now closed.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely
Horrendous company. Property Manager assigned to *** has lied to residents, bullied residents, harassed residents, and acts in the most unprofessional ways. When the President of Sentry Management was provided with documented evidence of such behaviors, they have gone unaddressed.
HORRIBLE!!!!!! They do absolutely nothingThey are the management company my HOA uses and they are the absolute worstThe vice president, Amber, pretty much thinks she is better than everyone elseShe literally told me that the board members don't talk to people in the neighborhood b/c, get this, they are going to get shot!!!! We live in Fishers for goodness sakeGet a lifeShe also admitted that I was lied to by my neighborhood's contact w/ SentryShe also told me that it was okay for you to not follow the HOA rulesSeriouslyWhat kind of a management company is thisI really wish I would of recorded my call with her to let everyone I know listen to this extremely rude personI will never purchase a home that is "run" by Sentry Management againAbsolutely horribleIf you are going to purchase a home that has Sentry Management as their management company do not buy it!!!!!!
The board decided we needed to terminate our contract with Sentry because of questionable practices. (The landscaper had dropped his insurance and instead of telling him not to return to our property, they asked us to sign a waiver that stated they would not be liable in case of an accident. The association would be liable. There are many instances of questionable choices and no or inadequate explanations. They certainly did not have the association's best interests in mind.)
Our original contract with this company was with *** Without our knowledge and against our contract with ***, they merged with Sentry. Against our contract with ***, they moved our money from our bank account to a new account. Again without notifying us. We did not have a contract with Sentry.
Per our contract with ***, we gave 60 days written notice of termination. A month after that termination date, they still had not turned over our accounts to us. We could not pay bills. They continued to write checks on our accounts after the termination date (mostly to themselves but not to our vendors). Finally, we closed the bank accounts ourselves and transferred the money to new accounts.
This is not a pleasant company to work with.
Sentry manages our condominium complexThey do not return their online contact form, emails or phone calls, even with more urgent items like a leak in the roofThey are not available to owners when neededThey have ignored our multiple requests to speak and to have someone come out to inspect the roofWe paid our own plumber to inspect the walls and he verified it was the roofWe have tried for nearly weeks to have Sentry fulfill their management obligations to fix the leak and the damage to the condo from the leak, with no responseEven when escalating an issue to a manger they continue to not respond to voicemail or email
Sentry recently bought out our previous HOA management companyThis week I received a "Fine Notice" from them stating that I was violating association rules because I allegedly had mildew on my drivewayThey further indicated I was being charged $per week until I fixed this violation Under our HOA rules I should have first received a notice of violation and given an opportunity to fix the problemIn addition the picture of my property does not show mildew on the driveway I tried to respond to them via email, but the email address they listed returned my email as undeliverable Sentry sent similar letters to many of my neighborsIf this is an indication of how they plan to manage our HOA, then I think potential homebuyers would be reluctant to purchase a home in [redacted]
For part of the year, the customer paid association dues to another management company before the account was transferred to Sentry Management The payment issue occurred during the change-over period the Community Manager has talked to and exchanged emails with this homeowner several times and it appears, from our records, that she is still missing a payment Her entire ledger history was provided to her on January 4, so she could see monthly assessments and when each payment was credited She has provided us some documentation (a payment schedule for automatic payments) but has not sent us the actual ACH transactions file from the bank showing proof of payments If there is an electronic payment for that missing month that was not properly accounted for, we will correct it In the meantime, Sentry is obligated to enforce the Board of Director's policy on late fees as long as the homeowner account is officially showing a missing payment
Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Starting July 1, 2016, SENTRY Management, Inchad days to act before COACHLIGHT Townhomes Association, Incwas administratively dissolved by the Secretary of State of Missouri for a “Failure to maintain a registered agent” SENTRY has had days after dissolution to complete the subsequent reinstatement process If SENTRY is unable to provide the Secretary of State Office with a completed reinstatement packet for COACHLIGHT by March 17, 2017, I ask that SENTRY please provide a date to which they will commit to finishing the job I would appreciate it if the Revdex.com would then keep this complaint open until SENTRY fulfills their commitment Thank you Sincerely, [redacted] ***
